Avatar m tn The VA [ Veterans Administration ] has looked into using fluvastatin as a treatment for HSV with some impressive results. One patient had a 1/50th load count after 4 weeks of treatment. Some others showed dramatic reductions in load counts also. Has anyone out there tried this treatment ? It does have FDA approval as a treatment for high blood pressure. 1579934 tn?1431268911 I just read a recent article (March 31) about Fluvastatin enhancing HCV response in combo with SOC. www.esciencenews.com Search Fluvastatin Has anyone on the forum had first hand experience with it? I'm just searching for all options.

They found fluvastatin to be the most effective at killing the virus, and lovastatin to be the least effective, but all had some negative impact on the virus. I just thought that this was an interesting find and since it was in the AMA journal, thought I would pass it along for what it's worth.
Avatar m tn There is currently a Phase II study going on with Fluvastatin along with regular SOC treatment and because Fluvastatin, like Alinia, is already an approved drug, it would be available sooner and more easily than the PI drugs, for example, currently in trial. http://www.hepatitis-central.com/mt/archives/2008/04/fluvastatin_low.html These links really made me sit up and take notice.
Avatar n tn Not sure if I can start a new topic or not, I had a low risk exlosure goot retested last week with an intermediate result, gave more blood today. I was in shock and I'm. Not really sure what that means for me? Any advice would be great. I'm very worried now.
Avatar n tn Accordingly, Plavix may interfere with the metabolism of phenytoin, tamoxifen, tolbutamide, warfarin, torsemide, fluvastatin, and many non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, but there are no data with which to predict the magnitude of these interactions. Caution should be used when any of these drugs is co administered with Plavix.
Avatar m tn 25 in the non-dominant eye, calculated to emphasize uncorrected intermediate focus, can work to do that since neg diopter spreads light whereas an intermediate focus requires condensing light. I'm missing something fundamental here; can you help me out?
Avatar m tn With my monofocal lenses at plano and no residual astigmatism or other problems affecting my acuity, I need glasses to use a computer, cook, and do other intermediate tasks comfortably. If you're concerned about your intermediate vision, consider having your second IOL targeted for good intermediate vision.
Avatar m tn If you are going on a statin - which are safe for people with Hep C, by the way - you might consider asking for fluvastatin, which has been shown to inhibit HCV replication in vitro, and has the same efficacy and heart protection as lipitor or crestor. Congrats on svr and Good luck!
Avatar f tn I choose the intermediate/distance vision option (have my nondominant eye set for intermediate with a toric monofocal; wear a distance contact in my dominant and will eventual have an IOL set for distance). I like this option. As a near sighted person I was always struggling to see distance and like to be able to do so without glasses.
Avatar m tn Sorry, something went wrong in my previous comment. afaik the normal value for Troponin I is : normal range <0,10µg/L (some say 0,50µg/L So, according to this you are measured high in the intermediate range. Is further testing planned for you?
Avatar f tn If I go with a single focus IOL I was thinking of having it set for intermediate rather than distance because I do a lot of work on the computer and I sew, etc. However, I am active (ski, bike.) My surgeon has said he has only set single focus IOLs at intermediate for wheelchair bound people and that it only gives you clear vision for 3 to 5 feet and he strongly recommends against it. I don't know what to do (my surgery is next week.
Avatar n tn I had a ReStor lens implanted in my left eye last October. My distant and intermediate vision was good immediately after the surgery. The reading vision didn't completely settle till one month later. Since then, I have lost the intermediate vision and the distant vision is not as good as before.
Avatar f tn s if they are set for diatance is that you will lose intermediate and near vision. Chrystalens HD gives good distance and intermediate and can give good near if you can make it accommodate. The Restor gives good distance and near, but not so good intermediate. It operates by making a near and far image and the brain sorts it out. The newest restor extends the near to about 2 ft. I have one of each.
Avatar f tn Is Intermediate westernblot very common in uninfected individual. Coming to me i never even had a fever or cold from past 2 1/2 years. But am schoked with Intermediate result.I am very much trying to keep that Intermediate westernblot with p18 equivocal at 6weeks post this incident. But am not able to. I saw many of your posts about hiv rna pcr not used for diagnosis. I hardly had an unprotected oral sex (cullinguis) for 2 to 3 mins.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply! Could you please give me some idea of how big a problem the intermediate vision is with these lenses? Does it make daily vision distracting or unpleasant? Or is it that when you view something at intermediate range, that is the only time it is bothersome? For example, If viewing a computer screen is considered intermediate, would wearing glasses just for those times correct it when needed? As it is now, I wear glasses all day.
Avatar m tn I was told that some IOLs also do well for intermediate distance vision. What exactly is intermediate distance? If my computer screen is about 1.5 to 2 feet from my face, is this intermediate distance? 3. Will a monofocal IOL give good intermediate distance vision? Or is that possible only with a multifocal IOL? 4. What is the difference between a mutifocal IOL and a toric IOL? 5.
Avatar m tn m new to progressives and have been unable to adjust, the progressives i have take away peripheral completely and just give me a very small intermediate area, computer use is almost impossible and gives headaches with them. i was told my prescription is preety high that is why peripheral distortion is so much. I would also not mind advice on the lens length i'm thinking 27mm, i don't want to have to bump my head up and down.
Avatar m tn my results are as follows right eye technis - very good near vision - blurry intermediate - good distence vision - BAD NIGHT HALO problem I also had yag laser on right eye a couple of days ago - no change left eye crystalens - very good near intermediate - blurry after 10 feet can not read large road signs till very close my - profile 64 yrs old ,using reading glasses prior to operation , no glasses at present question what can I do about night halos ?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have a cataract surgery in my right eye(distance, dominant) and I am currently checking out mini monovision in my left eye with contact lens set for refrective errro of -1.5D to simulate mini monovision before going for cataract surgery in my left eye, with(Lft eye) which I can read computer, though to be more sharp and clear I need to go little closer. When I read for e.g.
Avatar m tn However, covering up my dominant right eye provides a somewhat blurry intermediate vision. I am concerned that if I have both eyes with a Restor lens that my intermediate vision (conversing with people, shopping, eating ,etc) will be blurry. I have never worn glasses in my life but developed cataracts in both eyes. My vision is excellent now because my dominant eye gives me the majority of good sight along with the clear Restor.
Avatar n tn re: "They say I am not a candidate for the Crystalens because my cataracts are advanced. " Perhaps someone with more knowledge about the Crystalens might be familiar with this, but to me that sounds odd since usually the details of the cataract have no impact on the replacement lens you use. The natural lens with the cataract is removed, and then the artificial lens is inserted afterwards.
