Common Questions and Answers about Fluticasone inhaler side effects

Avatar f tn ll get used to the inhaled medicine better or later he will reduce the number of times you need to take the inhaler---or give you an inhaler that delivers less medicine and doesn't have this effect. I hope it's better by now.
Avatar n tn You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose. Along these same lines, unless your doctor is absolutely certain that you have persistent asthma, you might be able to get by without an ICS. You should, without fail, always use a spacer with the inhaler and rinse your mouth and gargle after each treatment.
Avatar f tn I therefore took myself off this inhaler and told my asthma nurse about it. I have been off the inhaler for two years and practically symptom free. I only need my blue inhaler if I catch a cold. After two years nearly symptom free my asthma nurse wants me to go back on a steroid inhaler so has put me on cleril modulite 100mcg inhaler. I've been taking it for two weeks and notice my asthma getting worse and a build up of phlegm again. Why would the inhalers be making my asthma worse ?
212161 tn?1599427282 to start ive been to 4 drs none of the asthma drs just reg drs one in er oters at a med first i had a cold in oct had 3 weeks started whezing, went back got inhaler, didnt take scare because i have paps of heart week later took because could not breath, felt better. now its been almost two months, still have the whez now and than and a little cough, running nose/stopped up nose.
Avatar f tn I liked your quote without any exertion I can breathe normally...whatever the hell that is. What is normal when you have been short of breath so long. I totally agree. I myself I have COPD as well. My guess would be if it is day 5 without the inhalers, then they should be out of your system. I too had problems with Advair and Spiriva. I was diagnosed in Oct. 07 with moderate COPD. Was put on Advair, Spiriva and ProAir as my rescue inhaler.
746512 tn?1388807580 I was just wondering if anyone here gets side effects from taking albuterol. I have only had the inhaler for about 2 weeks and notice very painful calf muscle cramps that occur a couple hours after taking the inhaler (suppose to pre-treat for a lecture hall that really bugs me). They seem to be getting worse with every dose (only noticed the last couple of times of using it), today my legs are still very sore and crampy and I took the dose 10 hours ago.
Avatar n tn When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
1425157 tn?1311651679 i could call the doc and ask him/her if there is anything out there on the market that they can prescribe to you to keep your bronchials open w. no side effects of the adrenaline rushes....you have to weigh out the benefits and what is more acute and has to be dealt with and not getting enough air to me take priority over an occasional fast heart however you want to make sure that the doc has okayed you to take an aspirin if you are going thru this to ward off the threat of clotting....
Avatar n tn However using a long-term control medicine, like Advair, Diskus (fluticasone/salmeterol), should help clear it away quicker. Sometimes this test is repeated after he has used a rescue inhaler like albuterol. When there is a 20% increase the test is positive for asthma. Advair Diskus (fluticasone/salmeterol) and albuterol as needed are recommended for the treatment for asthma.
Avatar m tn t grow back, he will give me steroid injections. Should I get those injections? What could be the side effects? Can this spread to scalp as well? As Maatson would know, I tried applying fluticasone on my white spot (IGH) and I had hypopigmentation. Is it really alopecia areata or should I seek a second opinion? If it is alopecia areata, what must I do to help myself? I read somewhere that it is related to vitiligo. Could my IGH spots be vitiligo, as I have alopecia areata too, now?
Avatar f tn Im just a little concerned because i used it once so far, and i know that sometimes the side effects can be really severe (ive been having REALLY bad drowsiness, but thats just annoying not much of a big deal) but it also seemed that the inhaler actually made my chest pains worse. It just made it seem like i had this huge gulp of air caught in my chest.. like i needed to burp but couldnt make it come out.
Avatar f tn Also ask the nurse to watch you take your inhaler, improper technique will increase the chance of side-effects (your headaches). One reliever that works in a slightly different form is atrovent, you could ask to try that one and see if it helps at all. Hopes that helps!
Avatar m tn No you want to use the salmeterol/fluticasone mix. Part of asthma is the inflammation which ventolin does NOT treat at all. If you end up abusing it, you could get to the point of having so much inflammation and muscous in your lungs that you can't breathe, even with extra medication. The study will salmeterol that showed the increase in death gave salmeterol to the patients in addition to their current medication, thus some were not taking anything other than ventolin.
2114467 tn?1358210256 I have had good luck with Benedryl (diphenhydramine) I am not crazy how sleepy and thirsty it makes me but just about all antihistamines have anticholinergic side effects. Sure, ask your doctor about it but my guess is that it will be OK. If it works for you now then I would definitely take it. It helps to have as many knows as possible when you are taking new meds & new rescue meds.
Avatar f tn i have done salt therapies in past , many kinds of therapies like halotherapy , silinetherapy , speleotherapy , they gave me great benefit for asthma , by passing 101 days in a salt cave reduces my asthma that I was feeling that I have new lungs , that was amazing !!!!
1047019 tn?1256719961 Medications are not candy and are used for treating actual conditions. There side effects to every drug, and that needs to be taken into consideration when treating disease and balance of the two should be sought.
