fluticasone hair loss

I noticed that there is a small patch on my left chin, where beard is scanty. It is not completely gone but the hair is scanty and the patch is obvious. I went to my dermatologist and he told me it is Alopecia Areata, though it could be in "initial stages" and it is "too hard to say anything". He told me to apply fluticasone cream twice a day, for a month. And if the hair doesn't grow back, he will give me steroid injections. Should I get those injections?

A year or so ago I finally went to an ENT, she said I had alergic rhinitis and prescribed fluticasone. 6 months later I went back because I still had constant congestion and usually a sore throat. I think the fluticasone made it a little bit better. Hard to tell. She gave me cetirizine (Zyrtec) in addition to the Fluticasone. Together they help a little, but they also make me sleepy all the time, and I still have congestion all the time.

You are correct in wanting to wait until you have achieved optimum benefit from the Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol, before any consideration of oxygen use. It could sometimes be due to the medication. As fluticasone propionate causes irritation of the nasal mucus membranes. Other adverse events that occurr with fluticasone propionate (with uncertain relationship to treatment) include: blood in nasal mucus, runny nose, flu-like symptoms, aches and pains, and dizziness. Coadministration with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitors, boceprevir and telaprevir, may increase the systemic exposure to fluticasone following intranasal administration or oral inhalation. Boceprevir and telaprevir are potent inhibitors of CYP450 3A4. Since fluticasone undergoes extensive first-pass and systemic metabolism via hepatic and intestinal CYP450 3A4, inhibition of the isoenzyme may significantly increase systemic bioavailability of the drug.

When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.

I notice that the ingredient that in Flonase is the same (fluticasone propionate) as is found in Flovent.. It occurs to me that flonase might even work better because more of the stream of fluticasone propionate would hit the back of my throat and be swallowed, getting more to my esophagus and less to my mouth. The key point though is I can get flonase inexpensively, whereas the flovent is more than I can easily afford.

I'm taking amoxicillin and my cheeks are very red, like i'm sunburnt, and very hot. It's only on my cheeks no where else on my face or body. I've been givien this same medicine many times and have never had this reaction, The only other thing I can think about is I was given a corticosteroid shot and nasal spray called Fluticasone. It's not shown as a side effect of the nasal spray, but could it be from one of these other medicines. Should I call my pharmacist or doctor?

The risk of death you mention is a very, very small risk. Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) is generally well tolerated by most people with asthma but more than a few side effects have been reported, especially with the dose that contains the highest amount of fluticasone.

Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!

Especially after combing my hair,there is a ton of hair in the sink. However my hair seems to be growing as fast as it falls out so I have thickness still. Someone told me to drink more milk and I find on the days that I do I see less shedding.

I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx. On a 12 week treatment with peg , ribavirin and sovaldi should I experience hair loss ? I am a hairstylist with very long thick hair ,still planning on working . Not planning to tell clients about treatment ,mostly due to fear they will not understand . How much hair loss should I expect?
