Avatar m tn I am currently applying a topical steroid for a fungal infection with the treatment to finish in a few days. I have been prescribed Fluticasone Furoate Nasal Spray and the information leaflet says not to use it at the same time as topical steroids. Once I finish using the topical steroid do I need to leave a gap before starting to use the nasal spray and if so for how many days?

I has underlying allergic rhinitis since childhood and currently has been use avamys nasal spray for 1 year. But my condition did not improve much and doctor advice me to use for 3 months again. However i am a high risk groyp for glaucoma as i am a high myopes around - 7. Should I stop using the nasal spray as it further increase my risk for glaucoma and cataract?
Avatar n tn What you describe is probably being caused by the inhaled steroid (ICS) in these 2 preparations fluticasone in the Advair® and budesonide in the Symbicort®. And, it may be dose related, so that the first step would be for you and your doctor to consider reducing the strength of the ICS. You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose.

2114467 tn?1358210256 Coadministration with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitors, boceprevir and telaprevir, may increase the systemic exposure to fluticasone following intranasal administration or oral inhalation. Boceprevir and telaprevir are potent inhibitors of CYP450 3A4. Since fluticasone undergoes extensive first-pass and systemic metabolism via hepatic and intestinal CYP450 3A4, inhibition of the isoenzyme may significantly increase systemic bioavailability of the drug.

212161 tn?1599427282 You should begin by using the Asmanex® Twisthaler® 220 mcg (mometasone furoate inhalation powder) or the Flovent® Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate) on a regular, daily basis, as prescribed. You should then arrange to see an “asthma doctor”, either an internal medicine specialist or a lung specialist also known as a pulmonologist. Your symptoms don’t entirely fit with the diagnosis of asthma and, if not, you will want to find out what it is and get going with the proper treatment.
Avatar f tn Lying down on my back with the back of my head firmly pressed against a pillow also gives relief, but once I rise the pressure/tightness is back again after some time. I have been on decongestants, analgesics, gabapentin, livocetrizine and fluticasone furoate nasal spray in the course of these two years, but none of them has proved effective. On the recommendation of an ENT specialist I recently got a PNS CT-scan done.
Avatar n tn I used Otrivin for 2-3 years. I needed 2-3 doses per day. Some doctor suggested me a drug Fluticasone propionate. It is generic drug called Flonase. With 30 days of regular spray, I could get away from addiction of Otrivin.
Avatar m tn hello doc i am 21 m from Punjab India i am using "Azelastine hydrochloride & Fluticasone Propionate" Nasal spray from last 3 years for my allergic nose problem , my nose gets watery and i start sneezing badly whenever it begins. So far i have tried using citrizine tablets which didn't workout for me. But Duonase the nasal spray is very effective and addicting. And i just noted that i am suffering from high blood pressure these days. I doubt it may be because of this spray.
Avatar m tn I notice that the ingredient that in Flonase is the same (fluticasone propionate) is the same one used in flonase.. It occurs to me that flonase might even work better because more of the stream of fluticasone propionate would hit the back of my throat and be swallowed, getting more to my esophagus and less to my mouth. The key point though is I can get flonase inexpensively, whereas the flovent is more than I can easily afford.

Avatar f tn He or she may recommend over-the-counter medications such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Claritin (loratadine), or prescription medicines such as a daily nasal steroid, such as Flonase (fluticasone), Rhinocort AQ (budesonide), Nasonex (mometasone furoate), or Beconase (beclomethasone), or a leukotriene inhibitor, such as Singulair (montelukast sodium).
Avatar m tn Now I am taking Fexofenadine Hydrochloride 180 mg (1+0+0), Montelukast 10 mg (0+0+1), Mizolastine (1+0+0) and Avamys (Fluticasone furoate) Nasal Spray. I also have taken Deltasone (Prednisone) (1+0+0) for one week at this month. Is the medication alright? Is there any way to cure fully? Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Avatar m tn I used mometasone furoate (a topical steroid cream) last night (for the first and ONLY time) on the base of my penis due to a minor skin allergy. Additionally, my wife and I are currently trying to conceive. When my dermatologist gave me the prescription for the mometasone furoate she knew I was trying to conceive and said it was OK to use.
Avatar n tn I'm a generic guy and used for the last year a nasal spray Fluticasone Propionate - I think it is a generic version of one of those expensive patented sprays. Even generic it cost over $20 for a month's supply. I have used it twice a day for many days in a row, then not at all, then back again. I suffer from chronic congestion at night, when lying down to sleep.
Avatar m tn But my doctor prescribed me to apply mometasone furoate and fusidic acid cream twice a day for 3 days and no moisturizer with a Cafadroxil Tablet. I am bit worried about the dryness and healing part. Over all my skin type is oily. But till now what I have heard after a laser resurfacing moisturizer is must. Please help and let me knw that is use of mometasone furoate and fusidic acid cream is good fpr post laser resurfacing treatment without moisturizer??????
612551 tn?1450022175 My personal interest in this Community is my chronic night time (sleep time) nasal congestion. I have tried the generic for Flonase (fluticasone) which didn't help much, not ow Astepro (not a steroid) which is a little more help, but none are as good as the over the counter Afrin (or similar) which can not be used for long periods. This congestion led me to recognize I have some trouble waking up with a suffocation sensession. .
Avatar n tn It could sometimes be due to the medication. As fluticasone propionate causes irritation of the nasal mucus membranes. Other adverse events that occurr with fluticasone propionate (with uncertain relationship to treatment) include: blood in nasal mucus, runny nose, flu-like symptoms, aches and pains, and dizziness. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I did an Internet search and one site gave the generic name as montelukast which is sold in the U.S. under the brand name Singulair. If this is medicaiton you have been prescribed, it is not a steroid. When you say fluticone do you mean fluticasone? If so, it is an inhaled corticosteroid. Medrol is a corticosteroid. I was not able to find any information on formanide. Corticosteroids do have side effects and should not be stopped abruptly.
Avatar f tn Last week I went to ENT and he gave me Dexamycim (eye drops) 2 drops in each nostril 3 x a day for 10 days to be followed afterwards with Avamys fluticasone furoate nasal spray suspension for 2 months. For my morning bitter taste saliva the doctors are not sure if it has something to do with my medications which are as follows: Alendronate one tablet once a week for my Osteoporosis, Calcium 600 + D3 too.
Avatar m tn A year or so ago I finally went to an ENT, she said I had alergic rhinitis and prescribed fluticasone. 6 months later I went back because I still had constant congestion and usually a sore throat. I think the fluticasone made it a little bit better. Hard to tell. She gave me cetirizine (Zyrtec) in addition to the Fluticasone. Together they help a little, but they also make me sleepy all the time, and I still have congestion all the time.
