Common Questions and Answers about Fluoxetine with wellbutrin

cymbalta

Avatar m tn I took Zoloft for several years, till it stopped working and I was switched to Wellbutrin. That was 10 years ago, and it's still working fine for me. The part of Wellbutrin that stopped workking, though, is the appetite suppressant. That part just worked for about 3 years before it left.
Avatar f tn To try and shorten the story- I had a cerebellar astrocytoma about 9 years ago. I was on Wellbutrin before the tumor/surgery and was feeling great. Afterward they put me on fluoxetine and topamax (I no longer have migraines and weaned myself off both). About a month ago I wanted to try stopping the Wellbutrin, and my gp told me to just stop it (300 xl). I was hesitant but decided to try it.
Avatar f tn I also take Wellbutrin & fluoxetine. I just started the Wellbutrin about 3 weeks ago. After about a week to 10 days the shaky side effects wore off for me and like you I went back to feeling down again. Now 3 weeks in my Doc upped my dose to 300mg, the 150mg was the starter dose. I just accepted the unpleasant effects (anxiety, lack of sleep, irritability) as my body getting used to a new med. beacuse I knew the positive out weighed the negative because WellB.
Avatar n tn I'm on Bupropion 300mg/day and Xanax (0.25 - 0.5mg as needed). Also taking Metoprolol 25mg/day for hypertension. I'd like to ask my doctor to add Fluoxetine to boost my serotonin. Are there any bad side effects from combining these meds?
Avatar f tn I'm curious if you are on any prescription meds? I have had patm for over two years. I take Wellbutrin (bupropion) for depression. I'm experimenting with a few weeks without the medication and I think it may be reducing reactions. Any one else on prescription meds, specifically depression medication?
Avatar f tn This is entirely dependent on your individual reaction. For me, neither was much of a factor with any of these things, and most ssris other than possibly Prozac tend to be sedating when they work well, but still, some will get these problems and some won't. These two meds are very similar. Celexa came first, and when the patent ran out, they played with the structure, took some things out, and made Lexapro. Reportedly it has fewer side effects, but who knows if that's really true?
Avatar f tn I have the same dilemma as you had in 2010 with your donor, my donor has major depressive disorder and takes wellbutrin and fluoxetine. My RE also said that drugs do not effect egg quality.. My questions to you is: are your twins from the eggs donated by same donor who was on wellbutrin? How are the twins doing...did every thing go normally during your pregnancy, delivery and babies are healthy? PL if you see this post pl DO answer me.....
Avatar n tn After i was switched from wellbutrin XL to Aplenzin, my hair has gotten very thin. has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar n tn In double-blind clinical trials, it was found to be at least as effective as Fluoxetine (Prozac) with a better side-effect profile. The active ingredient Hypericin also works in a very similar way to Fluoxetine. It isn't perfect. It does have side effects, and it also doesn't suit everyone- just as Fluoxetine doesn't suit everyone. There are also quality control issues, specially with cheaper preparations, due to the lack of proper regulation of herbal medicines.
Avatar f tn I am a 31 year old female suffering from ocd for 15 years. I take fluoxetine 20mg. Is it safe to take this longterm. Can this drug cause high cholesterol overtime?
Avatar m tn Doctor diagnosed me with Obsessive compulsion disorder and depression. Along with this I had thyroid disorder also and taking 100 mcg thyronom daily. My depression is since I was 20 years old , it can be say 20 year old depression . I have been on medicine for some time on and off. Now I started to took medicine continuously. Doctor has given me fluoxetine 80 Mg per day morning (4-X-X),Clomipramine 50mg (X-X-2) Respiredone 1 mg at night .
471949 tn?1236904026 I get my medical care at the Dayton VA hospital. An RN there prescribed me both Wellbutrin (Buspar) and Trazodone. Come to find out, that's a HUGE no-no. The drug interaction between those two causes serotonin syndrome. I found out too late. I've been sick the past several days with it. It's horrid. I'm now self-tapering down my Wellbutrin. The RN that I used to see was promoted a couple of months ago to a position where she no longer sees pts---gee I wonder why???
Avatar f tn I've recently been put on Fluoxetine to help deal with some issues of anxiety and unhappiness. It's been 5 weeks of a 20mg dose a day and up until about 5 days ago I really thought it was helping. I felt balanced and normal again and didn't feel like everything was too much for me to handle. My doctor and I discussed the drug and decided that it was working for me, although he did ask if I was feeling 'too happy'.
Avatar f tn but unfortunately I hear it takes at least a five week gap from going from fluoxetine to mood stabilizers because they interfere with each other and can cause serotonin syndrome or something. So I'm really hoping I can see the pdoc again before next year, so that might be able to worked out, as I really want to get off this antidepressant as it is certainly not doing anything to help.
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar m tn Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?
Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.

1679320 tn?1306382914 His hun im 38 years of age and im experincing the same as you withe nausea felling alday x I have been on fluoxetine 40mg for 4 weeks now and have had the same as you with the sickness to the stomach feeling 24/7 it is also causing marital problems for me as I'm suffering agoraphobia as well and cant leave the house does any 1 know how long it takes before istart to feel the benefits of the fluoxetine as having panic attacks 3/4 times a day x also Ive tried metroclopramide and cyclizin
Avatar f tn m on 10mg of Prozac and have noticed some weight gain within the past 2 months or so and my doctor has suggested I start taking Wellbutrin along with the Prozac but my biggest concern is having panic attacks. I suffer from panic disorder w/ agoraphobia and the Prozac has been helping but I'm afraid that adding on the Wellbutrin may counteract that. (I know it is considered a stimulant for a lot of people - hence the usual weight loss.
Avatar f tn m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
Avatar n tn m wondering what antibiotics are available to me with my previous allergies to Fluoxetine Hcl, Diphenhydramine Hcl, Doxycycline, Venlafaxine Hydrochloride, Fluoxetine, Azithromycin and Amoxicillin-Pot Clavulanate.
