Fluoxetine therapy

Common Questions and Answers about Fluoxetine therapy

prozac

Avatar f tn There's no such thing as a nervous breakdown. You need to get into therapy. As for the medication, you won't know if it'll work until you try it -- we all react differently. Alcohol increases depression and stomach problems, so that's a problem, not a remedy.
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar f tn A study done in 2009 by the Department of Behavioral Science at Eastern Virginia Medical School concluded that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, are one type of prescription medication effective for this disorder. Some common SSRIs include fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine and sertraline. The study listed other pharmacologic treatments for skin picking, such as inositol, clomipramine, doxepin, inositol, lamotrigine, olanzapine, naltrexone and riluzole.
1679320 tn?1306382914 Heya my doctor has put me on fluoxetine to help calm my anxiety. Has anyone had some luck using this?
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
1063764 tn?1272821064 If you took a lot of both drugs, Melatonin and fluoxetine. Would/could they do any serious damage? I am on fluoxetine and take melatonin regularly.
Avatar f tn Our family doctor seems to think he is doing it all for attention. A child psychiatrist and counselor have both suggested putting him on Fluoxetine along with Cognitive therapy. I'm reluctant to agree to the drug and wonder if we should just accept him the way he is. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...
Avatar f tn I've finished therapy after going each week for two years but it has made no difference, doctors just fob you off and you're made to feel like you're wasting their time.
Avatar f tn I have been on the 40mg dose, then got changed to 20mg of fluoxetine. Even though it was a change in med and a lesser dose, I felt good. Good enough to go off meds altogether. I'm not saying this will be the case for you, but definitely go see your GP and talk over your options. Have you tried counselling? Meds are great, but they don't deal with the issues which lead to your depression.
Avatar n tn I am on Fluoxetine, will this help speed the process up? I guess it is kind of comforting knowing the reason behind all this and I can just sit back and enjoy things as much as I can...
Avatar f tn If you are depressed, you might want to wait until you get the depression under control with meds and/or therapy before getting pregnant. You may also be at a higher risk for severe post-partum depression. Speaking as someone who has been there, you really need to find out why you are depressed. I didn't realize that the way my husband treated me was making me feel depressed until I had some serious therapy. I "thought" I was happy enough.
Avatar f tn I was started on Fluoxetine 7 weeks ago and I have noticed that my severe panic attacks are better, but I still wake up every morning with a nervous stomach which escalates unless I take a 1 mg Klonopin. I can usually go untill around 2 or 3 before I start feeling jittery and have to take another Klonopin. I started on the Fluoxetine at 40 mg and I just went to the doctor today and she increased it to 60 mg. Does this medication really work for panic attacks and anxiety?
505857 tn?1329681517 I'm feeling really down tonight, i was given 2 weeks of fluoxetine on Friday as my doctor thinks i'm suffering from anxiety or depression. This has been going on since i was 17 years old and i'm only now looking for a solution to the emotion changes at the age of 25. I need IVF and was told by my doctor i would be given treatment unless i got my BMI down from 37 to 25 which i am finding extremely difficult.
Avatar f tn i eat very well, watch my sugar intake, and exercise 5-6 x a week. I take 20mg of fluoxetine every morning as well as 88 ml of synthroid (started thyroid meds about a year ago,) and on hormone therapy (patch progesterone/dim) for 3 years (post-menopausal.) My guilty pleasure has always been a glass or two of w/r wine a day (while cooking and during dinner.) Overall ive alway felt pretty good but for the last 2 years i've been feeling a burning sensation on my tongue.
Avatar f tn My Fluoxetine was increased from 40 mg to 60 mg two weeks ago because I was still have panic attacks and a nervous feeling in my stomach. So now I have been taking Fluoxetine for 8 weeks total. Since the increased dose I have noticed for the past four days that I get a shivering feeling inside. I know that sounds weird, but that's the best way I can describe it. My doctor said two weeks ago if this 60 mg increased dose didn't work for me then she was going to switch me to Celexa.
Avatar m tn I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?
6021583 tn?1413069126 I went to the doctors and saw a new doctor 5 weeks ago and he said he would take me off trazadone 50mg and to start taking fluoxetine i asked him when i take the fluoxetine he said today and in 4 weeks he will cut down my trazadone. Avatar f tn I had started fluoxetine and a BP set on my table and checking it every 10-30 minutes. Plus I have an exam up coming. Anyone feeling the same kindly share your thoughts though I talked to my Doctor sister and she yelled at me that am all fine but just lame excuses for studying.
Avatar f tn m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
527657 tn?1214051850 Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.
Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.
1817640 tn?1323045243 i am taking fluoxetine for anixety, panic i feel sick and nausea all day , i can only eat a little bit then i feel very full. i am also having heartburn with this does anyone else take this medication and if so do you have or know if these symptoms are normal?
Avatar n tn Ive been to the doctors and they put me on Fluoxetine tablets. One a day until they tell me to stop. However I've had two so far but want to stop. I know you have to slowly come off of them but if I've only had two can I just stop? Please help!
Avatar n tn Do not stop taking fluoxetine without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking fluoxetine, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as mood changes, irritability, agitation, dizziness, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, anxiety, confusion, headache, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.
Avatar n tn I tested positive but I am allergic to Fluoxetine Hcl, Diphenhydramine Hcl, Doxycycline, Venlafaxine Hydrochloride, Fluoxetine, Azithromycin and Amoxicillin-Pot Clavulanate. What antibiotic can I take to treat this? Amoxicillin?
