my heart is racing all the time and my mind won't stop worrying. Is this normal side effects? If so how long do I have to wait them out, I don't think I can last much longer, I feel worse than when I started but my doc says it should subside. Anyone have any experience with this that can help ease my mind? I have even started taking them every other day and am taking lorazapam to help the anxiety. Any advice please.................

Hi! I have been on anti-depresants for 20yrs!! and for 16 of them Prozac!! i dont know how i'm still alive suffering depression for all of my life but I too cannot function normally without Prozac. I do sometimes deteriorate and i wonder if it even works anymore but i would rather take a tablet for the rest of my life and function than totally be in despair of depressive illness. It hasnt done anything so far to me so i think i would just continue taking it like myself.
I have heard that it is only a couple of weeks for side effects to diminsh but for some reason they start later and last longer with me. How long have you had side effects on the 5mg dose? I went to a counselor and she said, "Well, you have been on Prozac for almost 9 weeks now. It should be doing something." I believe that it is and will even more if I ever get to stick at one dose for more than 4 weeks.
i was under the impression that prozac isnt that bad especially at such a low dosage. can anyone tell me how long this will last. I want it to get better but it is like i am obbessing about it and it is making it worse.
how long will i experience the side effects of my med , i started it about a week ago tomorrow, i think i have every possible side effect that there is for fluoxetine! HELP!!!!!!!
Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor. Side Effects While Seroquel is not considered addictive, it does come with some inherent risks, much like any other prescription medication. Some of the most common side effects are fairly minor in nature, including headaches, dizziness, drowsiness or fatigue, stomachache or abdominal pain, congestion and weight gain.
I have come off them three other times before and never have the side effects of it lasted up to two weeks.I guess they effect everyone differently. Hope this is of some help.
So, my cardio put me on 50mg of Metoprolol and gave me 1mg Ativan to take as needed. Well, the Metoprolol was hell getting past the side effects, but I did it just to not have my heart pound so hard and loud out of my chest. I used less and less Ativan as time went by. I still had some palpitations (rare) and some occasional "thuds" in my chest. I was told this may happen DUE to the Metoprolol. I was also told to by my psych to take 20mg of Prozac.
( How do I gain self-esteem, and learn to trust, etc? OR how do I do something so that I can fix our relationship?
I am beginning to have very uncomfortable side effects and would like to stop taking it. I would appreciate your guidance in how to quit with the least withdrawal symptoms possible. Also, should I be taking any milder substitute during withdrawal to avoid severe depression ? Thank you very much for your help.
How can you discard someone else's pain as "nothing". How can you say "it's just anxiety". Do you really have any idea how much we want to shove our anxiety aside and pretend it doesn't exist. This just isn't possible for most people on this forum. I know panic attacks won't kill me, but when your in the middle of one you feel like crawling out of your skin. You want to run away from yourself and your feelings.
The best way to stop any SSRI is to take fluoxetine for two weeks, and then just stop the fluoxetine. The medication (also called prozac) has a super-long half-life, and tapers itself without causing withdrawal. The technique is fairly common and works very well; it is usually done to treat withdrawal from paroxetine or Paxil, which has a very short half-life.
Couldn't catch up for the last weeks, not really sure how long. I did miss posting and wondered how everyone was doing. Although I must say that I don't recognize most of the names here anymore. Taeme, I know where you are coming from. That anxious, tight, crappy feeling we can get is a bumber. Have you tried GABA. It has worked for me. I can go into all the chemical bs and stuff if you really want to know. The bottom line is that it works as a sort of natural valium.
seems like people are really struggling here with side effects and its totally understandable. im wondering if you are drinking tons of water? it really helped me. i even drank it during the night even if i had to get up for potty stops. because it did help the side effects. it cant be stressed enough. im thinking with your heart problem if you rest as much as possible during tx. as its hard on your body. my heart would race a lot on treatment and pound hard.
You said the side effects of FLUOXETINE are nasty and how long do these side effects last? If i take the this meds for 4 weeks and stop completely, will the symptoms come back up again as soon as i stop taking it?? If not, how long will it take for anxiety symptoms to show back up again??? Thanks for sharing your experiences on this.
IM SCARED AND HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS LIKE . 1. IS DETOX BAD AND WHAT TO EXPECT ? AND HOW LONG WILL THE BAD DETOX EFFECTS TAKE TO GO AWAY ? 2. IS THIS A GOOD WAY OF DETOXING WITH THE XANAX BEING REPLACED BY THE KLONOPIN ? 3. MY NEXT STEP AFTER THIS 3MG XANAX WILL BE GOING DOWN TO 2 1 MG'S PER DAY WILL THAT BE EVEN HARDER THAN WHAT IM GOING THREW NOW ? 4. DID YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW HAVE BAD DETOX EFFECTS FROM WEINING ME OFF THE XANAX THIS WAY TO KLONOPIN ?
It's important that patients on these medicines don't stop taking their medicines because serious side effects can occur, such as worsening of the depressive symptoms that they initially took them for, including thoughts of suicide for some patients. This is just one study that will be further examined. The great thing is that it's been published in the Public Library of Science online journal.
Please dont stop your meds without weaning off. How much do you take and for how long? why do you want to stop them? It took me along time to get back to a "non -severely depressed state" once i started them again and even now, Im still depressed, so i dont think they work as good again once you stop them.
Hey how long have you been on the fluoxetine for??? today for me is week 4 and a 1 day i felt good at first but was weaning of effexor at the same time as it didn't seem to be helping me with my anxiety and depression. Iv now been off the effexor 17 days and the last couple of days have gone down hill I carn't seem to work out weather its the withdrawing from effexor or the fluoxetine trying to get into my system and keep me at a steady balance. what dose of fluoxetine are you taking???
There are no special creams to reduce sensitivity on the penis and if there are some, I would be very cautious using them because you don't know what long term side effect it could have on your penis.
Perhaps I need to up my dosage... but if I do this, should I expect any side-effects? I don't know. I only finished councelling a month ago because I was doing better... now I think I should go back.
I stopped taking the omeprazole as it didn’t appear to be working and last thing I feel I need if I have anything to do with nerves is a medication that depletes vitamin B 12, one of its side effects. Horrible intermittent sensations in chest and throat (either side of windpipe) that can last for up to or over an hour. Difficult to describe – internal quivering/discomfort almost pain. Also under ribs on both sides. Slight headache.
As the online specialist suggested, Fluoxetine (or Prozac) has been in use for a number of years with great results and very few side effects. The drug is indicated for use in children and, by all accounts, is quite safe and effective.
The mechanism may be related to induction of metabolism. The risk of CNS-depressant side effects, such as sedation and apathy, may be increased with this combination. MANAGEMENT: If these drugs must be used together, observation for clinical and laboratory evidence of altered clonazepam effect is recommended.
The psychiatry told me the ssri, fluoxetine are very good and not much side effects but i hardly believed they are more good but hard to say because everyone react to medications different.Have you read the book by Dr claire weekes, hope and help for ur nerves i think she explained the best way on how to cope and recovered from both depression and anxiety as she was once a sufferer herself too.
How long have you been on it? This side effect tends to dissipate over time. One approach is to divide the dose to twice a day to minimize the sedation. Also a good idea, if you're not doing this already, to have a regular exercise program that will charge you up naturally. There are some natural foods and adaptogens that can also help, but if you're new to the med it's best to get used to it first to see how it'll be long-term.
Can someone please tell me how long it took for the side effects to go away? It has almost been 7 weeks for me. I am better but on 0.375 of Klonopin... Please help! I did not have any anxiety or panic symptoms before this. Thanks!
Introduction - Common Medications for Anxiety Disorders Here you will first find a list of all the major medications and the problems they address. Then you will see each of the major problems (panic attacks, generalized anxiety, and so forth), with descriptions of the commonly recommended medications for that difficulty. The one caveat that I'm sure you're aware of is that most, if not all, side effects do abate over time, so it's possible you just didn't give the diazepam a long enough trial. (?) Your pro and con reasoning for the alprazolam v clonazepam is also well thought out and you've reached a decision you feel would work the best for you. If I told you I thought clonazepam was worthless or had terrible side effects, would that really affect your decision?
