Did you start at full dosage or is your psychiatrist tapering you up to full dosage, as is recommended? This can minimize side effects.

please let me know if the dosage i am taking i.e. 1/4 of 20 fluoxetine and 5mg olanzapine combo and 3/4 lorazepam is high or low.

About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.

I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?

m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?

Can I take both 20mg fluoxetine and 25 mg amytriptyline to help with my depression. I'"ve taken both seperately without any problems I had an ECG when I was taking 100mg amytriptyline and no probelms excerpt hypertension with the amytriptyline (I take 10mg of atenolol daily and have done for some time) On Fluoxetine my BP is 120/80 - just wondered if I can combine safely the drugs smller dosage for my dysthmia.

My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.

Yes you are prone to serotonin syndrome as both are serotonergic. You should reduce both your fluoxetine and buspirone dosage to play it safe but don't break any capsules (I think Prozac is in capsules and you should never open a capsule). I think the Buspar is in tablets so its okay to break in half.

I've been taking Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) for a few years now and about 6 months ago I upped my dosage. My sex drive on the lower dose was already low, but now it's almost non-existent. At first it wasn't a problem because I haven't been seeing anyone, but now that I am I would really like to try and fix this problem. Since I'm female feel like this is going to be a more difficult process. Would anyone know of any supplements that can help this side effect??

Hi, I've been on levothyroxine since July, the smallest dosage. I'm also taking 20 mg of fluoxetine. The past few years I've been very tired (which I contribute somewhat to the fluoxetine and is normal), and my memory seems to be declining (way before I started taking the fluoxetine). I am only 22 years old, so I'm HOPING it is due to the hypothyroidism. My question is if this is a possibility or not? I have trouble concentrating, but I'm pretty sure it's not ADD or ADHD.

I was given 20mg of Lovan 7 months ago, I had the 4 - 6 weeks of dry mouth, increased anxiety, insomnia and jitters but when they subsided the Fluoxetine (Lovan) worked to a certain degree. 7 weeks ago I quit smoking and after 2 weeks anxiety and depression increased again. I returned to the doctor who increase the fluoxetine (Lovan) to 40mg.

we just started the lexapro slowly as i slowly decreased the fluoxetine. fluoxetine stays in your body for several weeks, so withdrawal effects are less likely (and/or less severe) than with other SSRIs. i would speak to your dr. about a slow transition from one med to the other... or give the buspirone a try. buspirone is supposed to be similar to valium in terms of it's anti-anxiety properties. so if you are having trouble with anxiety or panic, this might be a good combination for you.

I have been off fluoxetine for about 2 weeks now, because nomattterhow strict my diet, i cant seem to loose weight I gained whilst taking fluoxetine, which was getting me very down. Hey, I have been taking the generic fluoxetine hydrochloride 10 mgs tablets for about 1.5 years now. My pharmacy recently changed manufacturers and the tablets are now blue... I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-...

I was on 20mg of Fluoxetine but it wasn't making me feel any better so I got put on 50 mg of Sertraline. On the packet it says that I have to increase to taking two tablets after two weeks of taking one. Even though I'm only taking one, I still feel extremely tired and I've begun sleeping much more than I should and it's made me late for college (I'm 17). If this is the case, should I still increase it to two tablets? Thanks!

My Fluoxetine was increased from 40 mg to 60 mg two weeks ago because I was still have panic attacks and a nervous feeling in my stomach. So now I have been taking Fluoxetine for 8 weeks total. Since the increased dose I have noticed for the past four days that I get a shivering feeling inside. I know that sounds weird, but that's the best way I can describe it. My doctor said two weeks ago if this 60 mg increased dose didn't work for me then she was going to switch me to Celexa.

The average dose for Cymbalta is 60mg per day, and although some doctors do prescribe it 120mg per day...there is no evidence to prove that it helps any more than the 60 mg per day. The maximim dose for Prozac is 80mg per day so you're still below the highest dosage on that one. I doubt your doctor will increase the Cymbalta anymore, and if he tries to...find another doctor!
