t know which doctor told you to continue taking the fluoxetine, but the ONLY doctor who should be prescribing meds for you right now is your OB/GYN. I am not a doctor, so I have no idea if this drug is harmful for your baby or not, my drug books just state that if pregnant or if you plan to become pregnant, to see your OB immediately. I think you are right to be concerned.

I have been on Fluoxetine (prozac) and Amitriptyline at night for insomnia and today I had a side effect that had me dizzy light headed and faint feeling and tonight when I took my Amitriptyline instead of making me tired it has givin me energy that I didn't have earlier.... So FRUSTRATED!!!!

I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.

Recently I started on Amitripylline,after initally refusing it two yrs ago, because I also take Fluoxetine and Venafluxine, and worried about interactions. My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.

So this morning iv put my foot down and told my doctor I knew fluoxetine was doing nothing for me like it had done 3 years ago and needed a change after persuading him and listing all the side effects I was getting he changed me to mirtazapine 30mg to be taken a night with a good drink of liquid my post really is to anyone out there have they had this change and was it better for them?

When I get hot or sweat I smell differently than I used to. It started in early spring of 2008. The only thing changed in my diet has been that I've doubled my prescription of Fluoxetine from 20 mg to 40 mg. The only place I notice it being different is on my torso, like my back, stomach, and chest. It's strange, I know, but I smell vaguely of peanut butter (or something similar). And no, I am not eating a lot of peanut butter, or anything else in abundance.

I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?

Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.

I went to the doctors and saw a new doctor 5 weeks ago and he said he would take me off trazadone 50mg and to start taking fluoxetine i asked him when i take the fluoxetine he said today and in 4 weeks he will cut down my trazadone. But the 4 week appointment he was not in so i cancelled it.

Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.

There's no such thing as a nervous breakdown. You need to get into therapy. As for the medication, you won't know if it'll work until you try it -- we all react differently. Alcohol increases depression and stomach problems, so that's a problem, not a remedy.
