We fall into depression and then we start taking medicine and I will advocate for the medicine because it does help. What we don't do often is use the medicines along with some life changes in order to keep the happiness going.

Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.

Heya my doctor has put me on fluoxetine to help calm my anxiety. Has anyone had some luck using this?

Now I started to took medicine continuously. Doctor has given me fluoxetine 80 Mg per day morning (4-X-X),Clomipramine 50mg (X-X-2) Respiredone 1 mg at night . I can feel i am less depressed than before but the main problem is I have extreme fatigue , I felt it very difficult to travel highty places got extremelly tired.I told this to doctor but he is not reducing medicine.I am having difficult on my daily life with this extreme fatigue .

I've just started up fluoxetine (prozac) for the second time and am having trouble functioning. Does anyone know when they started to feel ANY relief from anxiety? also, I really need to gain some weight back so does fluoxetine give anyone an INCREASED appetite? Thank you for your help! Hi, see your doc and tell him now your feeling. Maybe you need some medicine to help you relax. Stress can kill so also have a good checkup and manybe an EKG.

My pulse is usually between 48 and 52 beats per minute... which is a bit low for me. I am taking the medicine for hypertension... but since heart disease runs in my family and fish oil has some pretty good evidence behind it, I thought I would take it 2. Any comments, suggestions?

Hey there... Years ago I took Paxil, I had an allergic reaction to it. I turned lobster red like I baked out in the sun nude. You need to research Paxil, I thought I read somewhere where it isn't effective as they thought, it seemed they had a few others like Effexer, and fluoxetine, not sure what the name brand was off hand. My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.

I take 20 mg of Geodone and Fluoxetine for depression. I forgot to take it one night and didn't sleep at all and later in the day, I began freaking out about my hands. It made no sense, but it brought me to tears because I thought something was wrong with my hands. I started bawling and couldn't stop, I was completely terrified. I currently take 20mg of Fluoxetine daily. I was recently prescribed Tramadol for migraines; however, through my research it appears as though these together may have significant increased chances of seretonin toxicity. What is the likelihood of a problem with taking these two medications? What should I be concerned with? Is it okay to take these two together?

I take 20 mg of fluoxetine daily. I have gained lot of weight because of it. I now worry that if I dont stop it, my organs will be destroyed. My parents tried lot of times helping me to drop medicine, but I go depressed again and they are afraid that I cannot stay without medicine. Now since 1 month I have tried to drop medicine every Sunday and Thursday of the week .Please advise.

but i fear that switching over of the present medicine to new medicine of new psych may creat lot of anxiety to me again. or my new psych should slowly taper off old medicine? because i have also gone through switching over.new doctor/new medicine means everything new?

I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?

I went to the doctors and saw a new doctor 5 weeks ago and he said he would take me off trazadone 50mg and to start taking fluoxetine i asked him when i take the fluoxetine he said today and in 4 weeks he will cut down my trazadone. But the 4 week appointment he was not in so i cancelled it.

I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.

There's no such thing as a nervous breakdown. You need to get into therapy. As for the medication, you won't know if it'll work until you try it -- we all react differently. Alcohol increases depression and stomach problems, so that's a problem, not a remedy.

Ive been to the doctors and they put me on Fluoxetine tablets. One a day until they tell me to stop. However I've had two so far but want to stop. I know you have to slowly come off of them but if I've only had two can I just stop? Please help!

I think you need to concentrate on meditation which will be very helpful for your mind medication is not a permanent solution for these thing, generally what happens when you are taking any medicine from long time then your body get used to that and it may show slow effect.

I have been taking prozac for about two weeks now, this is my second time taking this medicine for depression and anxiety. Lately I have burning sensation in my arm, wrist and hands.
