There's no such thing as a nervous breakdown. You need to get into therapy. As for the medication, you won't know if it'll work until you try it -- we all react differently. Alcohol increases depression and stomach problems, so that's a problem, not a remedy.
i am not on zoloft but i am on fluoxetine wich is the same as prozack, and i have had a terrible time with side effects, upset stomach , loss of appetite, weak very weak legs and muscle cramps, headachs im just waiting for them to go away and get on with it , i hope that you have good luck let me know how you do ! this is the first time i have dealt with anxiety also so its all new to me but this forum has helped put my mind at ease a lil , just knowing im not alone!!!
Unfortunately, most of the SSRI-type AD's cause weight gain, that is one of the more bothersome effects.
I'm with Maddie above, personally, I would rather be somewhat overweight and my issues (mine are severe anxiety and panic attacks) in check than worry about weight and be in constant mental turmoil. Everyone is different, however.
I have found that once I found the right AD, I was better off just sticking with it than "rocking the boat", so to speak.
I experiended severe nausea and no appetite. 6 weeks later, I still have nausea from the Fluoxetine. Panic attacks are a little better but I am beginning to think I should have stayed on Zoloft because I can't recall feeling this bad. I am now seeing a psychiatrist and they have taken me down to 30 mg. of Fluoxetine in hopes of helping my nausea. They feel the Fluoxetine 40 may have been too much. This is now my 6th week and feeling frustrated.
So I've struggled with various forms of anxiety for 10 years. These include heart palpitations,social events and entering new relationships.
Have just been prescribed 20mg Fluoxetine by my doctor and have been on this for just over 2 weeks. If anything my anxiety has increased slightly and I've lost my appetite. Could anyone tell me if this is pretty normal for the first couple of weeks??
Anxiety can cause a loss of appetite, but when you actually begin to lose weight and must force yourself to eat, it's time to see your doctor. Which you will be doing tomorrow and can discuss all your concerns with him at that time.
You didn't mention if you were on any medication for your anxiety, but some of the benzos and AD's out there do cause loss of appetite and weight. If you ARE on meds, a simple change may be all that is required to fix this.
Lack of appetite is normal. I had on and off with both of my pregnancies. Just eat small snacks throughout the day. Also if your Dr is not concerned about how big you are you likely don't have a problem. I didn't show till about 25 weeks and I only looked about 7 months pregnant when I was 9 and my MIL swore my son wouldn't even be 7 pounds but he was a full 8 Pounds 6 Ounces. A large part of it is how tall you are how you are built and how the baby is sitting.

Everyone around is asking me to ensure that I eat my full! Hope.the initial loss of appetite would not have affected the growth of the baby!
My name is Crystal. I'm in my 3rd pregnancy and i have loss of appetite. I don't feel hungry at all, and i have to force myself to eat. And when i do eat, i only eat like 3 spoons full of whatever I'm eating. Does that seem normal? Had anybody else had this problem?
