prozac

Avatar f tn A study published in the journal Endocrinology (2004) reveals that giving Prozac to children may result in a loss of bone mass. The study was conducted on mice and showed an average 9.4% less bone formation in the thighbones of the mice taking Prozac, compared to mice who were not given the drug.
543959 tn?1301315419 we just started the lexapro slowly as i slowly decreased the fluoxetine. fluoxetine stays in your body for several weeks, so withdrawal effects are less likely (and/or less severe) than with other SSRIs. i would speak to your dr. about a slow transition from one med to the other... or give the buspirone a try. buspirone is supposed to be similar to valium in terms of it's anti-anxiety properties. so if you are having trouble with anxiety or panic, this might be a good combination for you.
Avatar f tn t think about it for a few days and see if it is gone, in which case it was likely just in your imagination.
Avatar f tn Things have to be a certain way in his room at night for him to sleep. He hides this well at school and has a lot of friends. He does well at school. Our family doctor seems to think he is doing it all for attention. A child psychiatrist and counselor have both suggested putting him on Fluoxetine along with Cognitive therapy. I'm reluctant to agree to the drug and wonder if we should just accept him the way he is. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...
Avatar m tn I have noticed that in the prescription of the fluoxetine tablets it says that fluoxetine should be spread out and be taken one in the morning and one in the night. But the doctor said that he should take them all together at the same time. So, today we gived him two fluoxetine tablets together. But me and my parents are really getting confused as to whether we should listen the doctor or should we follow the instructions written in the prescription of the medication.

Avatar m tn i just started on fluoxetine and it depends on when you take it, if your taking it in the morning then switching to the evenings should solve the problem.
Avatar n tn Ive been to the doctors and they put me on Fluoxetine tablets. One a day until they tell me to stop. However I've had two so far but want to stop. I know you have to slowly come off of them but if I've only had two can I just stop? Please help!
Avatar f tn Hi, everyone. I'm posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
527657 tn?1214051850 Fluoxetine is generic Prozac. I've been on it a few times, and I'm back on it again. It will take 4-6 weeks before you begin to feel a difference (sometimes sooner). But it will happen. The only side effect I've ever had from it was insomnia, but that always goes away in a few weeks, so give it some time. As far as alcohol goes, you don't say how much you drank, but I have had a couple of beers now and then on fluoxetine without any problems.
1817640 tn?1323045243 i am taking fluoxetine for anixety, panic i feel sick and nausea all day , i can only eat a little bit then i feel very full. i am also having heartburn with this does anyone else take this medication and if so do you have or know if these symptoms are normal?
Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.
1679320 tn?1306382914 Heya my doctor has put me on fluoxetine to help calm my anxiety. Has anyone had some luck using this?
Avatar n tn I tested positive but I am allergic to Fluoxetine Hcl, Diphenhydramine Hcl, Doxycycline, Venlafaxine Hydrochloride, Fluoxetine, Azithromycin and Amoxicillin-Pot Clavulanate. What antibiotic can I take to treat this? Amoxicillin?
Avatar n tn Do not stop taking fluoxetine without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking fluoxetine, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as mood changes, irritability, agitation, dizziness, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, anxiety, confusion, headache, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.
Avatar f tn Inositol is a vitamin and the way it helps is thought to be by affecting certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Your fluoxetine is an SSRI so it is affecting Serotonin. The last thing I would want to see is you going through serotonin syndrome, i.e., too much serotonin. So before you start this I think you should just check it out with your doctor first. It could be that an increase in your fluoxetine may help with the skin picking.
1063764 tn?1272821064 Hello, I have a question about taking melatonin and fluoxetine in the same day. I've been on fluoxetine for almost a year now. I stopped taking melatonin when I started it because I read a few articles that it might potentially interfere. I was jw if anyone here take the two, and what your doctors have said or side effects you've had. Thanks.
Avatar f tn ve just been prescribed Fluoxetine 20mg a day, and been taking them for 11 days now. The anxiety symptoms have worsened and I feel v anxious and queasy quite a bit of the day. I've read that these are passing symptoms and that these side effects will go after a couple of weeks. can any one offer a word of kind reassurance? Thank you.
Avatar f tn About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.
Avatar f tn I have. 62 20mgs if fluoxetine....i skipped a few days of my pills and want to take them all..what will happen?
Avatar f tn I take 40mg of fluoxetine a day in the mornings. I didn't start leveling out until after I had been taking it a month. So, just give it some time. Make sure you take it at the same time every day, that is really important. And don't drink alcohol, that is important too. If you think it's not working for you after two months, then I would go back to the doctor and discuss it with them.
Avatar m tn I have been on Fluoxetine (40mg, 1xD) for some time now for Chronic Depressive Disorder. But lately I have been having bouts of depression again that last for several days. I am in a funk right now and can't seem to get out of it. I have no outside stresses right now other than the usual work and home stuff, but nothing major. I only drink socially every once in a while and don't do drugs other than the Fluoxetine and Aprazolam (as needed).

Avatar f tn ve been taking 40mg propanolol 3 times a day for 2 years for anxiety and have just been prescribed 20mg of fluoxetine to be taken daily to tackle depression but the doctor never said anything about stopping taking the propanolol, although everything I've found online says it's a dangerous combination. Is it safe to take them both together or should I be replacing the propranolol with the fluoxetine?
