My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night
So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
I am a 31 year old female suffering from ocd for 15 years. I take fluoxetine 20mg. Is it safe to take this longterm. Can this drug cause high cholesterol overtime?
please let me know if the dosage i am taking i.e. 1/4 of 20 fluoxetine and 5mg olanzapine combo and 3/4 lorazepam is high or low.
About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.
I honestly do not remember the dosage however, I mainly took the Fluoxetine for about 3 years and 9 Months, Seroquel for about 2 years along with the Benzo. I took the Zoloft after stopping the Fluoxetine that would be for about 3 1/2 months and the geodon was for about 3 months as well. Well the taper for the geodon was under a doctor's supervision, the Zoloft i tapered off for about 2 weeks.

I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness.
Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion?

m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
Hi all! I just started back up on Prozac about three weeks ago now. Come to think of it, it has been 22 days. For the past 22 days, I have been having some awful dizzy spells. When I say dizzy, I don't mean lightheaded or faint. I mean it literally feels like the world is moving when it's not. Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? And if so how long did it take for it to pass? I experienced this with Effexor, previously, and it took exactly one month for it to pass.
I was better on medication when I started it, now my Doctor is suggesting to increase the dosage to more than 20 mg fluoxetine but Im afraid it would damage my nerve system or cause psychosis, is that possible? Plus, what irritates me the most are these crazy thoughts, are they common among anxiety ocd sufferers, to be 24/7 afraid of hallucinations, or spirits, ghosts, mirrors, possession? I am 29 years old. 10yrs before, i was diagnosed as OCD. my ocd is related with my studies.i used to remember all things i studied. Confusion, can not understand the core meaning in studies, etc. i was serverly affected and depressed a lot. After one week of hospitalization and taking medication [Fluoxetine 20, Clomipramine 25]. some how i managed and made my mind peacefully and achieved in my academic.
When I say issues I mean I just still have certain things that cause anxiety, or I still have some ocd things like someone tapping makes me explode, I can't read a magazine without re reading the last few words on each page about five times by turning the page, turning it back and reading the last words and do that five times or so. I still have to check and re check locks and stuff. And I have recently read that the dosage should be higher for ocd.
There can be a trade off as being tired is not as bad as depression but understand that it is cumbersome. Prozac/fluoxetine is a great medication and you can switch when you take it for better energy. When do you take the clomipramine? That's a trycyclic agent for ocd. I would talk to your doctor about timing of meds. Also, this may sound strange but if you don't exercise, start. It gives one more energy overall, Eating well, getting proper nutrition too. You mention thyroid.

i am taking 80 mg fluoxetine plus 45 - 60 mg buspirone and i was wondering if there is reason for concern about serotonin syndrome with such a cocktail at those dosages. if it's a bad idea to be taking so much of the both of them, it's not necessarily a big deal for me to d/c them as i still lay in bed all day! -- but what's next?

Anyway I have a new panic attack issue today. On a recent night out I was kissing a man I met who later came back to my hotel room. We had a drink and a kiss etc. I remember him trying to take it further and me saying no one major reason being no protection.
However I'm now worried I did sleep with him and am panicking about hiv etc. would I remember?

First of all, talk to your prescribing physician. 40 mg is generally not a therapuetic dosage for Prozac treatment for OCD. It is 60 to 80mg or sometimes more. Secondly, you need to get some exposure/response prevention therapy. Find a provider that knows this treatment. Go to this site to look for someone qualified in your area.

I've been taking Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) for a few years now and about 6 months ago I upped my dosage. My sex drive on the lower dose was already low, but now it's almost non-existent. At first it wasn't a problem because I haven't been seeing anyone, but now that I am I would really like to try and fix this problem.
Since I'm female feel like this is going to be a more difficult process.
Would anyone know of any supplements that can help this side effect??
