fluoxetine dosage for anxiety

m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?

My Fluoxetine was increased from 40 mg to 60 mg two weeks ago because I was still have panic attacks and a nervous feeling in my stomach. So now I have been taking Fluoxetine for 8 weeks total. Since the increased dose I have noticed for the past four days that I get a shivering feeling inside. I know that sounds weird, but that's the best way I can describe it. My doctor said two weeks ago if this 60 mg increased dose didn't work for me then she was going to switch me to Celexa.

please let me know if the dosage i am taking i.e. 1/4 of 20 fluoxetine and 5mg olanzapine combo and 3/4 lorazepam is high or low.

I was given 20mg of Lovan 7 months ago, I had the 4 - 6 weeks of dry mouth, increased anxiety, insomnia and jitters but when they subsided the Fluoxetine (Lovan) worked to a certain degree. 7 weeks ago I quit smoking and after 2 weeks anxiety and depression increased again. I returned to the doctor who increase the fluoxetine (Lovan) to 40mg.

My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.

About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.

I cannot seem to kick the Daytime sleepiness. I am taking 40 mg, fluoxetine, 150 bupropion. When I was on the bupropion with lamictal it seemed like I had less of this sleepiness. Is there a possibility that lamictal may help? Anyone with experience on this? Should I up the fluoxetine, up the bupropion, switch bupropion for lamictal , add lamictal, up bupropion? Thoughts?

Stablon is an SSRE ( selective serotonin reuptake enhancer ). It is not available for Rx in the USA, UK, or Canada, but has been used for over 20 years in Europe, Asia, South America, and elsewhere. I wonder if anyone has used it and what their experience has been.

Hi all! I just started back up on Prozac about three weeks ago now. Come to think of it, it has been 22 days. For the past 22 days, I have been having some awful dizzy spells. When I say dizzy, I don't mean lightheaded or faint. I mean it literally feels like the world is moving when it's not. Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? And if so how long did it take for it to pass? I experienced this with Effexor, previously, and it took exactly one month for it to pass.

people in the HIV prevention forum say its anxiety etc, but my symptoms lasted for about a month, then i was ok;ish for a week, and now im ILL again!

Most flush-free niacin isn't very strong, especially niacinamide, which probably does nothing. So if you're going to try large doses, you might have to endure the flush. You also should do this in conjunction with your physician or a naturopath, as too much niacin can be dangerous. It can also affect your levels of other B vitamins. I've heard of it being used for anxiety, and it does calm the heart. It energizes those who need it, so I don't know about it making you tired.

ve just been prescribed Fluoxetine 20mg a day, and been taking them for 11 days now. The anxiety symptoms have worsened and I feel v anxious and queasy quite a bit of the day. I've read that these are passing symptoms and that these side effects will go after a couple of weeks. can any one offer a word of kind reassurance? Thank you.

I have been off fluoxetine for about 2 weeks now, because nomattterhow strict my diet, i cant seem to loose weight I gained whilst taking fluoxetine, which was getting me very down. I went to gp who has prescribed me paroxetne. Looking on the web, it seems that this ADis even worse for weight gain, So I now dont know what to do. Should i stay off all ad and see, or take the prescribed paroxetine or go bak to fluoxetine, i just dont know.

i am taking 80 mg fluoxetine plus 45 - 60 mg buspirone and i was wondering if there is reason for concern about serotonin syndrome with such a cocktail at those dosages. if it's a bad idea to be taking so much of the both of them, it's not necessarily a big deal for me to d/c them as i still lay in bed all day! -- but what's next? thanks...

This is a very common fear for people with anxiety disorders, but you have to understand that anxiety disorders and psychotic disorders are very different conditions, it's not like an anxiety disorder will morph into a psychotic illness. Those conditions present in their own unique way, and the diagnostic criteria are VERY different from that of anxiety disorders.

we just started the lexapro slowly as i slowly decreased the fluoxetine. fluoxetine stays in your body for several weeks, so withdrawal effects are less likely (and/or less severe) than with other SSRIs. i would speak to your dr. about a slow transition from one med to the other... or give the buspirone a try. buspirone is supposed to be similar to valium in terms of it's anti-anxiety properties. so if you are having trouble with anxiety or panic, this might be a good combination for you.
