Avatar m tn I have been taking a lorazepam to sleep for many months now and it used to work great. I also take fluoxetine, lamotrigine and singulair daily. Anyone heard of this or have ideas? Thanks.
20003388 tn?1515166040 Unfortunately yes, I have tried CBT for both sleep and my anxiety disorders as well as my OCD and never had any success. As far as asking my doctor's, I've come to realize they know very little about the medications they prescribe. I recently found out the average doctor only has to take a 3 month course on medications (not sure exactly how true this is, my therapist claims this is true. He has 4 phd's and a masters.

5915940 tn?1376618634 Hi Missy! I hope you start feeling better. I have just started getting anxiety attacks recently. I take no meds and don't wish to. Tight chest and shaky. Anxiety is a terrible feeling!
Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.
Avatar f tn Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.
543959 tn?1301315419 hello, just wondered if anyone has any advice, im currently taking 40mg of fluoxetine but feel this is not quite enough, my doc wont prescribe me 60mg dose but instead has given me 10mg buspirone to take alongside the fluoxetine. has anybody taken this combination of meds and is it helpful?

Avatar f tn So this morning iv put my foot down and told my doctor I knew fluoxetine was doing nothing for me like it had done 3 years ago and needed a change after persuading him and listing all the side effects I was getting he changed me to mirtazapine 30mg to be taken a night with a good drink of liquid my post really is to anyone out there have they had this change and was it better for them?
Avatar m tn I take 20 mg of Geodone and Fluoxetine for depression. I forgot to take it one night and didn't sleep at all and later in the day, I began freaking out about my hands. It made no sense, but it brought me to tears because I thought something was wrong with my hands. I started bawling and couldn't stop, I was completely terrified. Was that from not taking my medication, or something different? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Your pharmacy and your doctor's office, probably have a record of which brands you used to take and are now taking. I only asked, so I could google and see if others have the same complaint you're raising about a particular brand.
Avatar f tn not sure what this means.. melatonin reduces the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine.. and then in the last sentence fluoxetine has lead to a measurable depletion of melatonin in people..
Avatar n tn Hello - I have been taking fluoxetine for approx 5 - 6 years (40mg/day). I've been on different SSRI's throughout the past 10 years; however, fluoxetine has worked the best and I've stayed with it the longest. My question is regarding the side effects. Occasionally I will notice an internal restless feeling -- usually lasts a few days. It's almost like I feel kind of antsy. My sleep is not disturbed -- I sleep normal as usual.
Avatar n tn Fluoxetine (Prozac) has the slowest elimination of the SSRIs.
Avatar n tn But there came a point where I was taken off of Lunesta because I have other health issues and i was tired all of the time and sleep wasnt a problem. Now it has become a problem again and the specialist treating my other health issues put me on Ambien. I try other things before taking the Ambien. I dont get sleepy with over the counter meds. So that I dont get so worried about addiction, I take my Xanax instead of the Ambien periodically. But NEVER EVER take them together.
Avatar m tn However recently I have been having bad dreams just about every night and all of them consist of me hurting myself in some way. This has been affecting my moods and my ability to sleep because often if I wake up and go back to sleep, the same dream continues. I understand one can have bad dreams when they first start taking the medication, but has anyone had problems with it and having bad dreams several years later after already being adjusted to the medications?
Avatar m tn About six weeks ago I was prescribed 20mg of Fluoxetine (Prozac) daily for Chronic Depressive Disorder. At first, it worked great. I had energy, I slept through the night and felt rested in the morning. I wasn't constantly depressed and had desire to do things. I even got my libido back. I still had minor depressive episodes, but they never lasted more than a day.
Avatar n tn I have a terrible sleep disorder and have tried numerous products to sleep @ night ie: Lunesta, Ambien, Ambien CR, Remeron, etc. The best thing I have found, and it's non addictive/no side effects , to take a benedryl 1/2 hr before I go to bed. Make sure to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep.
Avatar f tn ve started to experience what was diagnosed later as fibromayalgia/cfs, it started with bladder irritability, IBD, mayalgia, artharalgia, severe fatigue , lack of concentration and unrefreshing sleep then it proceeded to be severe spastic muscle pain, morning somnolence and stiffness , I was diagnosed fibro by my rheumatologist 5 months ago who prescribed lyrica 50mg twice daily , it failed to achieve any relief and so, after some research I shifted to amitryptaline and fluoxetine , I'm in
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar m tn Concomitant use of tramadol and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine increases the risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome. It may also reduce the pain relieving properties of the tramadol. If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Try to take tramadol and imitrex a few hours apart from the fluoxetine.
