With that being said, perhaps you should try an MAOI. EMSAM is the popular MAOI on the market right now, and luckily, there are no food restrictions at the lowest dose. There's mixed opinions about the effectiveness of MAOI's, but generally they are effective when reuptake inhibitors aren't doing the job. If you don't notice a significant reduction in symptoms after an MAOI, maybe its time for an antagonist of some sort like: remeron, nefazodone, trazadone, or a tricyclic.
Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.

Took it for about 4 years and it worked wonders during that time for my Severe depression and anxiety. Then it just kind of started fading away and became less and less effective so I had to switch meds. Then I switch to Effexor and got around another 4 years effectivness from it until it also pooped out slowly.
I have never heard of hair loss being a side effect of any AD medication. I know for me it never caused any hair loss.
My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night
So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Concomitant use of tramadol and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine increases the risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome. It may also reduce the pain relieving properties of the tramadol. If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Lately, I have been having bradycardia issues, specifically in the evening time. My pulse is usually between 48 and 52 beats per minute... which is a bit low for me. I am taking the medicine for hypertension... but since heart disease runs in my family and fish oil has some pretty good evidence behind it, I thought I would take it 2. Any comments, suggestions?
i just started on fluoxetine and it depends on when you take it, if your taking it in the morning then switching to the evenings should solve the problem.
I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.
