Fluoxetine and fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Fluoxetine and fatigue

prozac

Avatar m tn There can be a trade off as being tired is not as bad as depression but understand that it is cumbersome. Prozac/fluoxetine is a great medication and you can switch when you take it for better energy. When do you take the clomipramine? That's a trycyclic agent for ocd. I would talk to your doctor about timing of meds. Also, this may sound strange but if you don't exercise, start. It gives one more energy overall, Eating well, getting proper nutrition too. You mention thyroid.
Avatar m tn Concomitant use of tramadol and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine increases the risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome. It may also reduce the pain relieving properties of the tramadol. If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Try to take tramadol and imitrex a few hours apart from the fluoxetine.
Avatar m tn I was referred to a psychiatrist, who suggested an anti-depressant, and then discharged me when he found out I was already on one. The fatigue and the anxiety definately feed into each other, and probably lower my mood because I find it hard to enjoy myself because I am so tired all the time. Typically, the more anxiuos I feel when I wake up, the more tired I feeel throughout the day.
1063764 tn?1272821064 If you took a lot of both drugs, Melatonin and fluoxetine. Would/could they do any serious damage? I am on fluoxetine and take melatonin regularly.
Avatar f tn Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.

Avatar f tn not sure what this means.. melatonin reduces the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine.. and then in the last sentence fluoxetine has lead to a measurable depletion of melatonin in people..
Avatar f tn ve tried Fluoxetine and it worked to some extent, but I had to discontinue because I experienced severe dry mouth/throat to the point I'd wake up in the middle of the night and cough for a half an hour (even drinking a full glass of water at bedtime didn't help) and that affected my sleep quality ... Could be due to the high dosage (60mg) I was on ... It took this much for Fluoxetine to ease my depression. Now I've switched to a combination of Bupropion 200mg + Fluoxetine 20mg.
Avatar n tn Fluoxetine (Prozac) has the slowest elimination of the SSRIs.

Avatar m tn Lately, I have been having bradycardia issues, specifically in the evening time. My pulse is usually between 48 and 52 beats per minute... which is a bit low for me. I am taking the medicine for hypertension... but since heart disease runs in my family and fish oil has some pretty good evidence behind it, I thought I would take it 2. Any comments, suggestions?

Avatar f tn I've had depression for some time and was prescribed fluoxetine a few months ago. In the second and third week of taking it I experienced what I can only describe as mild euphoria and a sort of agitation- not being able to sleep, restlessness and the shakes- which was not unpleasant because of the euphoric feeling that accompanied it.

Avatar f tn m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?

Avatar m tn Hello there, Fluoxetine or Prozac belongs to the group of antidepressants called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. (SSRIS). These drugs tend to cause less sedation and have different side effects to older antidepressants. Fluoxetine or Prozac elevates mood, increases physical activity and restores interest in everyday pursuits. Prozac is used to treat depression , to reduce binge eating and purging activity ( bulimia nervosa) and to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Avatar n tn Do not stop taking fluoxetine without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking fluoxetine, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as mood changes, irritability, agitation, dizziness, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, anxiety, confusion, headache, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.
