When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects.

MOST docs will tell you that an OCCASIONAL single drink is okay, but the general consensus is that alcohol should be avoided when on these kinds of medications, for a few reasons. One, it can decrease the effectiveness of the medication and it can exacerbate any side effects one might experience. It's just not a good mix.
Also, alcohol is something that exacerbates anxiety something terrible, especially drinking to the point of intoxication. It can also cause feelings of depression.
Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.
Alcohol definately effects your meds differently. With me, I get drunk easier and faster. It isnt good to drink while you are on meds anyways. It makes your medication less effective and it will effect your moods the next day.
Did the blurred vision precede the headache? That would indicate a migraine or migraine-like headache. As for the anxiety getting worse, Prozac is known to be the most stimulating ssri and because of that is the least successful one used for anxiety. The good thing about it is that it's the easiest to stop taking and doesn't usually have the weight gain and some other side effects associated with the others.
I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
yes anti depressants can cause mania type reactions - usually in bipolar people, th'at is why I don't take them. Maybe get a second opinion on the diagnosis, that is not a particularly normal reaction for unipolar depression,
When they were still giving bipolar patients anti-depressents regularly I tried every variety and had a particular problem with SSRI's.

I've been since a week now on 40 mg prozac fluoxetine, today I felt very down and sick-like, I'm very concerned and feeling dizzy and not myself, panicking and sad sad sad. I feel like vomiting and feels like a fire in my stomach since the morning. I had some wine yesterday but didn't drink much though. I've been on 20 mg since a year now, but due to a blip I moved to 40 mg of course with a GP recommendation.

Fluoxetine or Prozac belongs to the group of antidepressants called selective
serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. (SSRIS). These drugs tend to cause less sedation and have different side effects to older antidepressants.
Fluoxetine or Prozac elevates mood, increases physical activity and restores

After quitting sertraline, all these went away, but the depression came back, so I tried Moclobemide, ending up with ever more severe side effects and more anxiety as well.

About a month ago I went to see a psych and he put me on 40mg of fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month and a half to up the dosage. However, I'm not sure if it's working for me... or if I'm just getting bad side effects. Within the month that the psych left me I had to go through a length and painful trial, to which the fluoxetine just made feel completely numb, I know I should feel sad but for some reason I can't cry.
The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?
Concomitant use of tramadol and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine increases the risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome. It may also reduce the pain relieving properties of the tramadol. If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Try to take tramadol and imitrex a few hours apart from the fluoxetine.
Try the generic version of prozac..called fluoxetine. It comes in white tablets. Pills and capsules seem to vary in their effects with this medication.
After about a week to 10 days the shaky side effects wore off for me and like you I went back to feeling down again. Now 3 weeks in my Doc upped my dose to 300mg, the 150mg was the starter dose. I just accepted the unpleasant effects (anxiety, lack of sleep, irritability) as my body getting used to a new med. beacuse I knew the positive out weighed the negative because WellB. does do wonders for my depression, i have started going back to the gym and feel more of a purpose in my day.
