Fluconazole vs diflucan

Common Questions and Answers about Fluconazole vs diflucan

diflucan

Avatar f tn was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Avatar f tn C albicans can be resistant to drugs ending in azole. Diflucan is Fluconazole. They can give you Amphotericin B but it has bad side effects. I would the infectious doctor.
4928337 tn?1362751166 Yes its diflucan the main ingredient is fluconzole my father in law just told me to take it lol I trust his opinion as a Dr I'm just anal lol
525485 tn?1314361301 I know that you cant take diflucan (fluconazole ~generic for diflucan) but I was wondering if there was anything else. My doctors office is not open yet so I will be calling them when they are available, but was wondering if any of you ladies knew anything about this. Any help would be much appreciated!
Avatar m tn Yeah, the Fluconazole I'm taking is just a generic brand of Diflucan. So taking a single dose of Diflucan usually gets rid of your yeast infection? Lucky, haha. I'm on day 11 right now of taking Diflucan and I can't say its doing anything. I've heard that taking probiotics while taking antibiotics is also good for avoiding yeast infections, especially Acidopholous (which is the bacteria found in yogurt naturally).
Avatar f tn hmmm... what form of terconazole did he write you? diflucan is fluconazole, another anti-fungal. so if the terconazole didn't work, i don't know if the fluconazole will. and they both are category C during pregnancy. it's safer to use anti-fungals in cream or suppository form as they would then not enter the blood stream and carry the potential to cross the placental barrier. But i don't know...

Avatar f tn My doc usually calls me in terconazole goo, he said the diflucan or fluconazole pill isnt allowed during pregnancy which ***** because having a yeast infection isnt bad enough, add dealing with the goo treatment to it.
20797525 tn?1510602613 I have had candida for a little over a year now. It all started with strep throat that I required penicillin to combat. Penicillin helped but never fully eliminated the problem. I began to notice a lot of itching underneath my left arm. A few times I would put deodorant on and it would sting to high heaven. Then I noticed that classic yeast smell. I tried all types of treatments with no result, relief or answers.
Avatar f tn ve had 4 different doctors look at my penis and they all say it looks normal and suggested I had a mild yeast infection on the glans of my penis due to the cracking and some patches that appeared. I was prescribed Diflucan (fluconazole) and also applied anti fungal cream for a week. After a week, it didn't really do much. I feel as if the brown color of my penis makes it easy for dermotologists and the doctors to overlook what i KNOW i see.
Avatar f tn Background info: I was given 3, 150 mg Fluconazole tabs to take, every other day. I started this Tuesday, I have taken 2 pills and will take my last one Saturday. My question is, before I started the medicine, my symptoms were pretty consistent with that of a mild Yeast infection: minor swelling, and my cervix was covered in thick, clumpy white discharge. No pronounced itching or burning, but some slight redness.
Avatar m tn You don't need to take fluconazole (Diflucan); it wouldn't make any difference in your wife's risk for recurrent infection. Women do not acquire yeasts from their partners. Yeast is present all the time -- it resides normally in the vagina, rectum, on the skin, etc. When an apparent new yeast infection appears, it arises from within -- i.e. the yeast already there grows to larger numbers or causes more inflammation.
Avatar m tn I've had this irritation in the area under my foreskin for over a year now. A fungal cream seems to keep it at bay and I've even taken Diflucan/Fluconazole (200 mg daily) for a week. They seem to help but yet it comes back. It's manageable and I can masturbate (with some temporary redness and slight burning sensation).
Avatar n tn You can get something like a cream (Canesten, Monistat) or you can get fluconazole (Diflucan) which is a tablet. The tablet takes a little longer to work as it needs to get into your bloodstream first. The cream gives you relief faster.
Avatar n tn No really recommended, but it helps eating plain yogurt or even apply it external helps treating yeast (candida) infection. Diflucan/Fluconazole is still your best bet. Plain Yogurt is the super sour tasting one with no sugar. Sugar helps those bacterias to grow, so stay away from the sweet stuff..
Avatar f tn You can use a cream or pessary ie clotrimazole (Canesten) or take a single dose tablet ie fluconazole (Diflucan). At the same time you might want to take some probiotics to help recolonise the good bacteria in your gut.
Avatar f tn t need to go to the doctor. You can get a once only tablet (fluconazole - Diflucan) or you can use a cream or pessary such as canesten (clotrimazole). It is very common to get thrush after antibiotics as they kill off all the good bacteria and allow there to be an overgrowth of Candida (the yeast that causes thrush).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a mild yeast infection. My doctor prescribed fluconazole pills but it only helped a little bit. I'm still having symptoms. I think she mentioned that she could prescribe a cream. Is there a difference between over the counter creams vs prescription creams prescribed by a doctor?
Avatar f tn Hi - We don't look at pics here. We aren't doctors, and sure wouldn't disagree with a doctor who has actually examined you. If your doc thinks shaving bumps, it's probably shaving bumps. Add the irritation from monistat (and doesn't that stuff BURN), and a yeast infection, and I'm sure you're quite irritated. Ask your doctor for oral fluconazole.
Avatar f tn Hi All- I didn't know I was pregnant when I took 2x150 mg of fluconazole in a span of week during my 4th and 5th weeks. After I came to know about my pregnancy, I am now scared, that I might have harmed my baby. Please help me out here. Has anyone taken it during first trimester ? Is the baby doing well? Help me out here.
Avatar n tn These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil) Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone. It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn For the Gonorrhea she gave me 400mg (1 tablet) of Suprax (Cefixime), for the Yeast Infection she gave me two 150mg tablets of Fluconazole (Diflucan) and for the Chlamydia she gave me 1g (powder) of Azithromycin (Zithromax). I took the Suprax right when I got home, then 1 tablet of the Fluconazole a few hours later, and that night, before bed, I took the Azithromycin exactly as it told me to do. The next day I took the last Fluconazole tablet.
