Avatar f tn Anyone have experience with any over the counter depression medicine that works well?
Avatar f tn I think she mentioned that she could prescribe a cream. Is there a difference between over the counter creams vs prescription creams prescribed by a doctor?
Avatar f tn Sounds crazy but I've battled them a lot this pregnancy and have been told to pick up over the counter treatments. The 3 day treatment. But I was also told by my ob that inserting yogurt yes yogurt 1 tablespoon every other day is a natural cure. I was skeptical but its worked for me.
Avatar n tn All you need to do is get an over the counter treatment from the pharmacy. You can get something like a cream (Canesten, Monistat) or you can get fluconazole (Diflucan) which is a tablet. The tablet takes a little longer to work as it needs to get into your bloodstream first. The cream gives you relief faster.
Avatar f tn I agree, it could be thrush. All the treatments are over the counter. You can get the tablet (fluconazole) or any of the creams or pessaries ie Canesten over the counter at the pharmacy.
Avatar f tn She told yes but their not recommended for pregnant woman. So she told me to use one of the over the counter treatments like monistant (not sure if spelled correctly) I personally wouldn't risk taking it. Even the pharmacists told you its not recommended. And like I mentioned my doc also said its not recommended.
869568 tn?1248372915 the cream over the counter inserts are safe during pregnancy. You are just not supposed to take the pull diflucan/fluconazole.
Avatar f tn I have a cold an taking no medicine is killing me. Is there Any over the counter meds I can take?
4371309 tn?1357956329 My Dr at Kaiser said that the OTC and the ones they prescribe are the same. I didn't argue with her since she has the degree and just bough some from the pharmacy. When ever your next visit is with your OB check with her/him.
5079728 tn?1365549989 So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.
Avatar f tn An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.
Avatar n tn But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.
765828 tn?1306263868 , there could be a serious reason why this is happening, i dont mean to scare you, it could be that you are constipated and pushing to much, but if the bowl is filled up, i would call your doctor right away, and this way, they can rule out different causes and hopefully get to the problem, i wouldnt take anything over the counter until i was seen by a doctor, good luck, let us know how you make out.
Avatar f tn yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.

Avatar m tn Ask a pharmacist since this is sold over the counter they can answer that question for free. Or do what I do call a 24 hour one that is in a different area and ask on phone do you do not need to be embarrassed.
Avatar n tn Could be thrush and you need to be treated with an antifungal like fluconazole (single does tablet) or clotrimazole (if you prefer a cream or pessary). Both available over the counter. If the area is tender than urinating will irritate it and make it sting. But it could also be something else. Have you been having unprotected sex because there's the risk of an STD? Probably worth you going to your doctor but might be worth trying the antifungal.
Avatar f tn You could have thrush that needs to be treated with an over the counter antifungal. You may want to take a tablet (ie fluconazole) or use a cream or pessary (ie clotrimazole). What did the doctor say when you saw him the last time. But at any rate you probably need to see someone and get it diagnosed.
525485 tn?1314361301 In my experience, the over the counter creams do not work for me but I am extremely sensitive to medications. I alwasy call my doctor and she'll call in a script for me. But, I think Diflucan is the only oral medication (at least it's the only oral medication I've ever heard of for yeast infections).
Avatar n tn t know which country you live in, but in the UK you can Canesten, Canesten HC and Trimovate. Some you can buy over the counter, other medications can only be prescribed by the doctor. If you are sexually active, make sure your partner is treated too, otherwise you just spread it to each other. Make sure you wear cotton underwear and do not use soaps, bubble baths, shower gels or feminine sprays down below. This changes the PH level down below and aggravates the condition.
