869568 tn?1248372915 I think I might have a yeast infection or bacterial infection. I don't know for sure though. I made an appt with my doctor this morning around 10:45am so we'll see. I wondered, though, have any of you ever experienced this during pregnancy? Is this dangerous? I had a yeast infection once before a looooooooooong time ago and was treated with cream; is that safe during pregnancy?
Avatar f tn For yeast infections I was always given either monistat or fluconazole. A bacterial infection like BV would require metronidazole (flagyl).
Avatar m tn In all cases the cause can be either a STD or a non-STD infection. If you have been sexually active, then it is important to test for STDs, bacterial vaginosis and fungal infection. Non-STD infections can be either bacterial or fungal. Emperically (or without testing), usually a combination of antifungal and antibacterial cream is tried. This usually involves metronidazole with either of these antifungals: Clotrimazole 1%, Miconazole nitrate 2%, Tolnaftate 1% and Butenafine hydrochloride 1%.
Avatar m tn A month ago I self diagnosed and treated a yeast infection based on my previous yeast infection (diagnosed by a doctor a few years ago). I treated with Monistat (miconazole)cream, which mostly cleared up my symptoms. I still felt somewhat irritated down there so I went to the doctor. She took a swab sample that came back negative for yeast/bacteria/gonorrhea/chlamydia.I felt fine for 2 weeks, then felt intense burning during intercourse . A few days after that, the itch was back.
Avatar m tn It most commonly occurs due to bacterial, viral or fungal infection. An intertrigo usually appears red and raw-looking, and may also itch, ooze, and be sore. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical zinc oxide cream like Sudocrem, Desitin are very helpful(apply with a paper towel and not directly with hands).
Avatar n tn But the swab test showed Gram Positive Cocci in group and small chain. I am guessing it is the bacterial infection i caught from the anilingus. Upon seeing the tests the doctor prescribed me Clotrimazole mouth paint, Azithromicin 500 mg for 3 days and Fluconazole 150 mg on alternate days. It has been 5 days since i have been taking the prescription but there is no visible changes in the throat infection. Infact my tongue and palate has turned numb due to the constant use of mouth paint.
Avatar f tn My penis glans became yellowish nearly 2 months ,I think its neither a bacterial nor a fungal infection as I had applied antibacterial creams such as kz cream fusidin cream lulifin cream and taken tablets such as azee and Fluconazole but there is no improvement I am really worried what to do

Avatar f tn So just a quick question for all the women that have taken this before for bacterial vaginosis. So I started this a couple days ago and today I had a heavy amount of sticky discharge. This isnt normal for me. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else. Is it just the antibiotic clearing the infection.
1054108 tn?1314298660 Has anyone was treated for bacterial vaginosis infection or yeast infection during first trimester? What medicine is safe to take for treating these two infections during 12w of pregnancy? My OB has prescribed me fluconazole 150 mg (one tablet only) for yeast infection and metronidazole 500 mg (to take for seven days) to treat bacterial vagnosis infection. She said it is safe however I am still hesitating. Please I need your advices.
Avatar n tn Ask for the fluconazole tablet from your doctor. It'll treat your yeast infection better and faster than Monistat and is far more convenient since it's a single pill you only have to take once. Honestly, yeast isn't the only thing that can cause the same symptoms of a yeast infection, so I'd go to your ob and request a culture to make sure you're not working with a bacterial infection or anything more sinister...
Avatar m tn Best thing is to go and see your doctor and get a swab taken to identify if there is a fungal or bacterial infection. That way you will be treated with the appropriate medication/cream. As well as being able to buy creams for fungal infections, you can also purchase a single dose one oral capsule of Fluconazole 150mg. This is taken by mouth. And symptoms can take up to a few days to clear up. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Avatar f tn my dr gave me fluconazole for my infection ,3 pills in 3 days .should we skip or take it regular.because she told me take it wednesday ,thursday ,and sunday,,thank..
Avatar f tn It may be a bacterial infection. A doctor would do a swab to find out if that is the case and prescribe the correct medication for you to use and possibly your husband too. The other condition it may be is a yeast infection called Thrush. A swab test would confirm if this was the case. If you have a white discharge this usually indicates a fungal infection, a yellow and very smelly discharge would indicate a bacterial infection.
Avatar m tn If you need an antibiotic, take the cefuroxime before the fluconazole, the antifungal. Try showering with neem soap or tea tree oil soap. Wash underwear and socks in hot water with measured Tide and baking soda to kill yeast. The cefuoxime is an antibiotic.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed to take penicillin first and then fluconazole after the penicilin was done. After I finished the doses I went back because the itching still persisted and so did the pelvic pain.
Avatar m tn Does not work in many, fluconazole. Your doc may put you on terbinafine, or griseofulvin for best results.
Avatar f tn So I had to visit the doctor after 10 days and he got me tested for HSV 1 & 2, HIV 1 & 2, VDRL. All the results came negative. HSV 1 & 2 IgG (ELISA) - 0.07 Ratio HSV 1 & 2 IgM - 0.23 Ratio HIV Antibody (Elisa) 0.01 VDRL / Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR Test), Serum - Non-reactive Blood Sugar - Normal B12 - Very Low (So I am taking weekly B12 injections now) I was told that it could be a bacterial infection and he prescribed the following: 1) Anti bacterial cream called Fourderm.
