Avatar n tn If you have the flu you need to see a doctor. It can be dangerous for prego women.. I had the flu a couple weeks ago and they prescribed me tamiflu but you need to see a doctor first. Good luck!
Avatar n tn i have heard alot of women think that they had the flu til they found out that they were pregnant. Lol i had two cuzn that were feeling like they had the flu. bubbly stomach tired couldnt eat smells of food made them sick feeling hot and cold etc. so the fam thought they had the flu especially cause the two girl were feeling sick we thought it was spreading. lol Come to find out they were both pregnant. true story though it could be the flu you should still get a pg test just to be safe.
Avatar f tn Apparently it is going to be a bad year for the flu. I got a flu shot while pregnant, it is strongly recommended by all the sources and I couldn't find any that thought it would be dangerous (and I read up on it). Pregnant women are considered one of the three most vulnerable populations for getting the flu (children, the elderly, and pregnant women). I think 14 children have died from the flu so far this year.
Avatar f tn It doesn't sound like typical pregnancy symptoms. Maybe you have a bug. Pregnant women are more suseptible to tummy upsets. That's why food should be reheated to piping hot or made fresh. It's a pain.
Avatar f tn Yes. There are two types but i cant remember what the pharmacist said they were.
Avatar n tn But I work In Residential care looking after the elderly, and where the staff and residents were coming down with bad flu symptoms I just had mild cold symptoms that went after a couple days of early nights and lots of warm fluids

8828802 tn?1409757465 Actually pregnant women are usually supposed to get a flu vaccine! But again I'd talk to your Dr instead of just going to a pharmacy. I too have been having similar symptoms today. It's just the left side of my face and eye that feels super sensitive and almost painful.
Avatar n tn I am 23 and 19w4d with my first pregnancy. Last night, about 2 hours after eating dinner, I started to feel very nauseated. This continued through the night, along with flu-type aches. I also kept waking up because I was too hot or too cold, although the temp in the room was cool and I usually sleep through the night with no problems. I've continued to feel exhausted, achy and generally ill today, but my appetite is normal, and I do not have swollen lymph nodes, fever, vomiting or diarrhea.
Avatar f tn The flu season is here and the flu symptoms actually resemble a lot of pregnancy symptoms..
Avatar n tn s recommendation for pregnant women. I have seen many people who get the regular flu shot for the first time become very ill within 24 to 48 hours. I have a fear that because I have never received a flu shot that the HINI will make me very sick and put my baby at risk. Can you please comment on this for me.
Avatar n tn I have also chosen not to have the flu vaccine. They have never trialled flu vaccine on pregnant women so I'm not taking the risk! Far to many other toxic substances in that vaccine that make me worry! It makes me angry really as they say don't take aspirin or painkillers other than paracetamol but hey want the flu vaccine?
Avatar f tn re saying that I should request to get the igg HPV blood test or is that included in a standard blood test when being checked for stds? Also another question - if my friend had all the flu-like symptoms and an outbreak 3 weeks after she had sex with our/my.... ex-hook up (yep, still awkward) is it most likely that she caught it from him or could it have been dormant for awhile?
1194973 tn?1385503904 It seems that as a lot of women get closer to actually having their babies they start to get flu/cold like symptoms. Is this normal, and it actually happens, or do a lot of women just actually get sick before they have their baby?
Avatar f tn it doesnt seem that you are pregnant, it sounds like you only have the flu, some women get their periods when they are pregnant and dont know that they are pregnant till they get their symptoms, but that is rare, if you are pregnant your breasts would start to hurt, you would start craving, feel nauseated, tired and other symptoms of pregnancy, but the symptoms you were just talking about are symptoms of a cold.
938718 tn?1323783514 There are two type of flu vaccine. Pregnant women should get the "flu shot"— an inactivated vaccine (containing fragments of killed influenza virus) that is given with a needle, usually in the arm. The flu shot is approved for use in pregnant women. The other type of flu vaccine — nasal-spray flu vaccine (sometimes called LAIV for “live attenuated influenza vaccine)—is not currently approved for use in pregnant women.
427258 tn?1266445242 s vaccination on their unborn children was demonstrated in a study of women in Bangladesh published last year in the New England Journal of Medicine. It found that flu shots given to pregnant women reduced flu in infants by 63 percent. Only about 15 percent of pregnant women get seasonal flu shots, experts noted, so it's not clear how many will get the new shot.
1029233 tn?1263966032 flu is only likely to cause serious complications in people who already have chronic health conditions. Healthy pregnant women will merely experience flu symptoms and a high temperature lasting over about 4-5 days, then will get better. The key is (as with all flu) to take a paracetemol, keep your fluid intake high, and if you wish, get better a little quicker with a course of anti-viral meds. I also believe the media has made a huge deal of this.
Avatar f tn s worth considering since flu rate deaths are highest in children, pregnant women and the elderly. Other effects of the flu can be preterm labor but typically I think that it cause from dehydration. Weigh your risks. I personally have been having a lot of gi upset from the meds and I'm only on day 3 of taking it.

Avatar f tn The flu shot is not harmful to the baby in any way. It's important for pregnant women to get the flu shot because influenza can cause serious complications in pregnant women (and you're more likely to get it since you have a weakened immune system). Also it's important that anyone living with you once baby is born also has their flu vaccine because you are creating a wall of protection for baby, since baby cannot be vaccinated for flu until 6 months.
