I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my
moderate severe copd, I have just started
Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I
cutdown on the combivent ?
I've had asthma for 21 years, been on Flovent to control it, I'm having sideffect with Flovent and Qvar, is this common after use of inhalers for so long, what can be done if a person become allergic to inhalers, very worred since my asthma is Modered.
Ive had asthma since I was in the 4th grade I am now 27 and have 3 kids. I absolutly can not go with out an inhaler. My kids are perfect. I don't like advare but flovent and aberterol is what I have been on for years. I would not stop taking any of the medicines that you are taking currently without your docters permission. That could be dangerous. I would ask about the flovent everyone is different and there are differnt types of treatment.
COPD Fev 45-50% , have been on Flovent,/Spiriva/ Proair 10 years and am sensitive to medications. I dont smoke.
Have had increasingly reactive airways for 3 years, had first Dxed exacerbation last fall triggered by woodsmoke. No congestion and did not take antibiotics. Pulmo said airways 'sounded just like asthma' but do not have that Dx. Airways felt raspy, swollen, inflamed. Have slowly recovered on a higher dose of Flovent.
The pulmonologist said it was laringer spasms and a viral infection in vocal cords. Hospitalized for 3 weeks. Home on 20 days of oral steroids, flovent and nebulizer treatments. I am not feeling better.The coughng and the raspy, hoarse voice is still there and the gasping for air and choking continues but has gotten a little better. Have not restarted the advair because the asthma and pulmo dr feel the powder will be irritating to my throat.
Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear.
Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus.
As of today he is on flovent, zyrtec and flounsase. And he still has a wet cough after all these months. The pediatrician isn't much help. I took him to an allergerist and he was only alllergic to dust mites. I took him to the ear, nose and throat dr. and he said he wouldn't do anything different then what the allergist is doing (he did not do an xray). The allergist is not saying if he has asthma, not sure I guess. Today he suggested to take off flovent and start taking singulair.
10 -day course of .875 MG Augmentin with pulmicort + albuterol nebulizer treatments, and Nasonex. Some improvement -- lung function up to 81%.
3. 3-week course of 2 MG Augmentin, higher dose of symbicort (no nebulizers), and Nasonex. By January 6, my lung function was up to 92%, which was for me, normal.
The allergist still thought I had a sinus infection, so she recommended a sinus CT scan, which showed no infection.

I was recently admitted to the hospital in March for 6 days. The last time I had to be admitted I was a child. I just got a nebulizer. The inhalers that I am on are Ventolin and Flovent. Last night, I started coughing a bit. This morning I was wheezing and coughing. Maybe it's the weather changing since it was 64 degrees out today.
At the emergency room and urgent care facilities they treated her with a nebulizer, these treatments gave immediate relief, but the problem soon returned during that night after returning home. She has been put on steroids (prendisone) at two different times. With our most recent visit to our pediatrician she was taken off the last dose of prendisone. The doctors conclusion was that there must be some sort of stress that's causing the problem.
He has been on everything imaginable from Flovent, alvesco, to singular and nasal sprays, albulteral treatments,predinisone(oral) and now nebulizer treatments(duo neb and pulmacort). He has an asthma specialist which is great but I feel there is something he is missing. My son has been through multiple tests to check for allegeries and cystic fibrosis and all were negative.
She was diagnosed with asthma, RSV, low oxygen saturation levels, and pneumonia. We were sent home yesterday with nebulizer to use every 4 hrs as needed.
I have a couple of questions.
1. SHe hates these treatments altogether, but the mask is completely impossible to use. In the hospital they were using the "blow by" method, and we are using this at home, too.
They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent.
Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
