Hi, I am 30 years old. Was changed by my doctor from advair 500/50 twice a day to flovent 220 two puffs twice a day as he believed the LABA in advair was making asthma worse. He was right and feel better. Even when I haven't been on flovent/advair my peak flow has been totally normal as well as all parts of the pulmonary function test. My only main asthma symptom is tight chest hard to take a good deep breath inward. I've never had a challenge test or anything like that.
They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Saw ENT, flexible scope up my nose foind vocal cords, larynx and cartlidge in my throat were swollen and airway was comprised.iv steroids,flovent 220 and breathing treatments. The ENT said GERD. I have been on protonix My GI says it is not GERD. ad endoscopyseveral months afo and was negative for GERD. The pulmonologist said it was laringer spasms and a viral infection in vocal cords. Hospitalized for 3 weeks. Home on 20 days of oral steroids, flovent and nebulizer treatments.
Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent.
Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well.
Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
Does anyone get a racing heart from taking flovent, or has expienced dizzeness, short of breath and lots of headaches?
I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. I went to three different endos who were not very helpful.
I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my
moderate severe copd, I have just started
Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I
cutdown on the combivent ?
Does anyone else experience hoarseness? I have been recently I notice when I get tired. I'm not sure if it's related to the MS or not. It's not really a big deal as far as symptoms go just kind of annoying and I was curious if it could be a nerve thing or not.
Hoarseness can be due to any number of causes. Reflux, cough, vocal cord/laryngeal lesions (polyps, nodules, edema, tumors), vocal cord paralysis, post nasal drip/secretions, vocal cord irritation or infections. An exam of your vocal cords by an ent would be helpful to better assess your problem. Good luck.

Try not to frighten yourself unnecessarily. A thyroidectomy is not always indicated just because you have a nodule. It's extremely common to have them and your's is small. You would have your thyroid removed only if the nodule were cancerous, and since you only have one nodule, worst case scenario they would take one lobe. The ultrasound will show if it's impinging on your vocal chords, but since it's small, that seems unlikely.
What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm.
When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.
This year i completely forgot to start my meds, so i had a minor asthma attack. i I went to the doctor. He put me on flovent, my albuterol, also to keep taking my allergy pills, Zyrtec. So i started feeling better.. Im a 28 year old, im working out alot cause i know im a bit overweight. im a runner. And since that attack i havent been able to have a full workout. I lose my breath easily, my chest feels tight, i feel like yawning all the time to catch some air.
