Avatar n tn I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?
Avatar f tn Xopenex is a rescue inhaler, that means you have to use this when he has an episode of Asthma. Flovent is a steroid inhaler. This are preventive inhalers. The type of drug commonly used in preventer inhalers is a steroid. Steroids work by reducing the inflammation in the airways. When the inflammation has gone, the airways are much less likely to become narrow and cause symptoms such as wheezing. Steroid inhalers are usually taken twice per day.
Avatar n tn Understand your predicament. Flovent inhaler contains steroids and is given to prevent an attack of asthma. Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar f tn ll get used to the inhaled medicine better or later he will reduce the number of times you need to take the inhaler---or give you an inhaler that delivers less medicine and doesn't have this effect. I hope it's better by now.
746512 tn?1388807580 s are accurate after that.. and usually rads is asthma.. You can buy Flovent inhalers in generic form which is part of the advair which is all you need. much cheaper.. also just get refills dont buy the cannister each time. Advair takes about 2 weeks to work.. the anti-inflammatory action that is.. and also flovent.. it is not an as needed drug and should be continued . I have heard of docs ordering it for a few weeks and then telling their pts. to stop.. no such do..
Avatar f tn Does anyone get a racing heart from taking flovent, or has expienced dizzeness, short of breath and lots of headaches?
Avatar m tn I take Singulair for my asthma and it works wonders, but I am told, it's effect on allergies is very minimal. I have lots of allergies too but I have noticed, that over the counter meds like Alavert (or Walgreen's version) or ones similar, are better with allergies. My father says Singilair does help with his nasal polyps, but he also agrees it doesn't do anything for allergies.
212161 tn?1599427282 oh and i also have the inhaler flovent 110 whic h would be better thanks again your great.
Avatar f tn For asthma is it dangerous to use only your rescue inhaler, especially if you've been prescribed a steroid inhaler to control your symptoms. Asthmatics have died due to badly out of control asthma, where they have over relied on their rescue inhalers. I would not recommend that you do this. The problem is that due to the presence of excess inflammation, the airways tend to get get hypersensitive and constrict the muscles around them, which in turn reduces the airflow even further.
212161 tn?1599427282 i use the xoperer inhaler and i have the asmanex to do at night which i have not and now i have the flovent inhaler have not done. will the last two clear it out and keep it away. am 49 years old never has asthma before so am so lost with this can you plz shed some light on it.when over this will i get again with each cold . do you think its asthma thank you so much.
Avatar f tn I was then given Advair Diskus 250/50, after 2 1/2 months called the doctor because of using emergency inhaler Albuterol Sulfate 90mgc min 10 times a day. Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema.
746512 tn?1388807580 I'd say it's the increased triggers. Advair can definitely be pricey. Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective.
Avatar f tn We did test out the flovent inhaler again (the allergist was interested to see if this had the same effect as last time.) Sure enough within 2 days the rash cleared up perfectly, we stopped after a week and the rash was back. At this point our next step is to continue to wait for the dermatologist appointment or go back to the allergist and discuss the oral antibiotics. So frustrating if this turns out to be an undocumented side effect of stopping flovent.
Avatar n tn It sounds like asthma to me also. First she does need an accurate diagnosis from a doctor. If she is diagnosed with asthma, I would recommend discussing the pre-treatment use of her rescue inhaler before she engages in very active play like running. She should use the inhaler about 15 - 20 minutes before playing if possible. If she can't do that, use the inhaler and then have her start playing at a slower pace than normal - ie warm-up pace. This should really help her play time.
Avatar f tn I am on 2 kinds of asthma medication. Pulmicort inhaler twice a day, morning and night and a Bricanol inhaler as needed. One idea, perhaps, is to make an appointment with your family doctor and review your asthma medicaiton. Just an idea. You could mention that you're coughing and wheezing etc. Perhaps your famlly doctor could give you a referral to an allergist. Based on what you've mentioned in your comments, I'm wondering if you're allergic to something in the environment.
Avatar m tn i have used proair and the little red abuteral inhaler and now im on flovent none of these has worked for me. abuteral makes me really shaky and nervous and flovent is useless and really expensive. do you know of any other good inhalers or medications to try and also is there any meds to stop the irratation and itchy feeling in throat and chest due to asthma.
1754037 tn?1327886811 ) the bigger I get I am noticing I need my inhaler more! I take it like 3 times a day. Especially because I live in Hawaii & the weather here is awful like vog & sugar cane smoke!
Avatar m tn I am now 21 and it seems like I get shortness of breath a lot lately . I use flovent everyday twice a day and I use my ventilin as needed. but you can only use the venilin 4 to 6 hours after each use. sometimes my ventilin doesn't even help. i do have anxiety and that gives me shortness of breath a lot too. i have been using vicks up to 3 times a day everyday for a little over a month now. is it safe to use it everyday?
Avatar f tn ( anyone know any tips to get me to relax? I do take my inhaler but doesnt help my anxiety, makes my heart beat faster! Also i was wondering if all of you do take your prenatals? I had stopped for a while cause it made me throw up and i believe the reason to constipation and lately ive been sooo weak!;( i get dizzy really fast even when washing dishes or small activity.. Was it cause i stopped taking my prenatals? I just took one right now cause its bothersome to be soooo dizzyyy!!
Avatar n tn I never saw a doctor. I had two MD’s say anxiety is my problem I had one MD give me Flovent which really made my stomach bad and soon after my breathing discomfort turned in to exercise induced asthma or spasm. I stopped the Flovent after four months because it would help for a week and then stop working. My stomach improved after stopping.
Avatar f tn the Orange one could be Flovent is an inhaled steroid that takes down inflammation, it is NOT a rescue inhaler. This is usually given one in the morning and one at night, every 12 hours, it works for 12 full hours. BLUE inhalers are the ones that open your airway within 5minutes, they are the rescue inhalers.
1754037 tn?1327886811 Hi has anyone have asthma & taken their asthma medicine while pregnant?? & did your baby come out fine? Someone told me that they knew sum1 & her baby came out with birth defects & she thinks it's cuz her asthma medicine she was taking which was her inhaler. So I'm a lil freaked out about taking my inhaler but I NEED to cuz if I can't breath my baby can't breath. I just don't want to take it to often.
Avatar f tn I went back to the doctor who diagnosed an upper respiratory infection, prescribed an antibiotic (doxycycline), along with an albuterol inhaler and a steroid inhaler (Flovent). I started the antibiotic but had a bad reaction to it (fever, chills, heart palpitations, etc.). Went back to the doctor the next day who took me off the antibiotic and told me just to proceed with the two inhalers. I did this for about two weeks with no results whatsoever.
