Avatar f tn I have a history of Asthma, High Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea and Sero-Negative Rheumatoid Arthritis. My best peak flow is 500. I am a 56 year old woman and was not on any preventative asthma meds at the time of catching the cold and development of the sinus infection. I am on Plaquenil 400mg Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID, Proventil HFA 2puffs every 4 hours, Flovent Diskus 250mcg (started one week ago), Nasonex, Augmentin 875 BID.
Avatar m tn Blood pressure medications work by reducing the ability of the heart to inclrease blood pressure in an emergency. Blood pressure rises as a compensatory reaction when there is an asthmatic attack. As long as it does not progress to the point where there is an acute hypertensive crisis, short periods of elevated blood pressure during an asthmatic attack may mean the difference between living and dying. Despite this fact, many physicians routinely prescribe blood pressure meds to asthmatics.
Avatar f tn I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. I went to three different endos who were not very helpful.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar f tn Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Avatar n tn A doctor MAY have prescribed you to take the ventolin before you take the flovent to ensure the flovent reached deep into the lungs but give them a call and double check. In that case - ventolin first to open the lungs and then flovent to reduce inflammation.
Avatar f tn Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
Avatar n tn my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
Avatar m tn I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well. Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.

Avatar m tn Long story....but, I have shortness of breath and a feeling of pressure on my chest along with sporadic itching and skin crawling feeling. No rash. I have had all allergy skin and blood tests (with the exception of the dermo patch test)and chest xrays which were all negative. I take zytec and singulaire and have had 3 steroid shots this calendar year. Heat and humidity seem to bring out the symptoms. I am trying to determine possible causes. Can you please assist?
581954 tn?1223391496 My doctor had me go and get a scope done of my esophigous thinking the acid might be causing me to wake up and found out I had GERD and ringing around my (Esophigitis). They gave me a steroid called Flovent to take for 6 weeks, and also my MD had proscribed me Prilosec 20mg 2x a day that I already had been on for about month and half. I noticed that if I had a beer or two the next day I would feel like I had 20? So I stopped alcohol, caffein and I would not eat after 7pm due to acid reflux.
Avatar f tn Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear. Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus.
Avatar f tn my thyroid is trashed;I have blood sugar issues and gained a ton of weight;I feel like I am going to vomit sometimes. I think I really am going to die sooner than later. And the doctors are not helping me one bit, especially the endos, who think "it's all in my head." I go to a new primary next month.
393685 tn?1425812522 It IS still present and (where the nodule is) I still feel pressure - only minimal though. Definately not the same as I experienced last week. Remember , I had a chest cold a month ago so that is why I opted to try it. Common sense tells me - IF there IS inflammation present in neck and throat - the nodule in there would cause more pressure. Right? Rest assured - this nodule conversation is NOT over and it WILL be removed. I have found two wonderful ENT surgeons / thyroid close by.
Avatar m tn What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
Avatar f tn Hi, I will try to keep this as short as possible. I am a female in my 20s and always been healthy. I do not have a history of asthma in my childhood. I have bad chest tightness with occasional shortness of breath. My symptoms are bad some days and gone on other days. My previous doctor prescribed me Flovent. Also, I was prescribed Albuterol for a rescue inhaler. Flovent didn't work so my dose was increased. I am still on it and still not working.
