Flovent and ventolin

Common Questions and Answers about Flovent and ventolin

flovent

Avatar n tn I would go for the Ventolin. Flovent is a corticosteroid with serious side effects Among them are osteoporosis, overgrowth of Candida albicans, adrenal problems, cataracts, and on and on. In addition to Ventolin you can use natural anti-inflammatories. There are many - vitamin C, vitamin B6, mullein, marshmallow, boswellia, ginger, and on and on. I use a nebulized albuterol combination (Duoneb) as the only prescription. I no longer use inhaled steroids after developing serious problems.
Avatar f tn The inhalers that I am on are Ventolin and Flovent. Last night, I started coughing a bit. This morning I was wheezing and coughing. Maybe it's the weather changing since it was 64 degrees out today.
Avatar f tn I am ok during the winter months. I told my doctor and he said it was ok. I just worry about coming down from the Advair like I used to with Prednisone. Does anyone know about inhalers that can be used in between Advair usage when the asthma isn't bad?
1679876 tn?1304743615 My son has severe asthma and uses a separate steroid inhaler (Flovent) and uses his ventolin inhaler for emergencies.
Avatar n tn I'm a 44-year old female, with asthmatic allergic response to cats since childhood. I smoked off and on from 18-39, about 5 pack-years. I've lived near a cat (outdoors with access to my husband's study) for 18 years, and have treated my asthma with albuterol, adding ventolin when necessary. About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks.
1232362 tn?1333135406 However I am on FLOVENT inhaler and Albuterol inhaler as a rescue backup, and I use the albuterol only when I feel an attack coming on. So I basically keep it in my purse for security. The FLOVENT is very effective in my case. I too have had asthma for about 30 yrs. But have it under control. Please read my other posts concerning asthma on this site as I don't want to repeat myself but perhaps my advice listed can help you some.
1580703 tn?1651904887 It was so chronic and I could not even sleep on my back. Then I finally got a prescriptiion for the ventolin and Flovent. I had worsening asthma will the Flovent which can happen with any med, so I went back but the doctor did not believe me again. It was so bad that I went to the emergency doc where i worked and begged him for 10 day course of prednisone. I felt the difference with the first pill. However after the prednisone was done my inflammation came back.
Avatar f tn Flovent is a corticosteroid for asthma. I take albuterol, a fast acting inhaler, that does raise my heart rate for about 10-15 minutes. A normal response to the medication. Since Flovent is a steroid, it shouldn't normally raise your rate. However, you may have a sensitivity to that particular medication. You should talk to your doctor about it, see if s/he can prescribe a different one for you.
881463 tn?1245345649 acid reflux The medicines I take are alluporinol(Gout) Ventolin, Prevacid, Flovent, Serevent. Celexa and ativan as needed for panic attacks I have a benign fatty liver confirmed by Biopsy 5 years ago, which causes elevations in GGT ALT AST ALP. Billi is always normal. Recently about 3 weeks ago I started having mid chest and back pains and thought I was having a heart attack.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar f tn These help greatly and thee are no side effects. As to diet, be very careful about sweets and too much starch. These cause a proliferation of Candida albicans. Candida worsens asthma and allergies. I almost forgot. If you can find chewable bromelain, use that. Very, very helpful.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar f tn I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist. I suspect my little guy needs oral antibiotics + a topical treatment to get rid of this.
Avatar f tn Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
Avatar m tn I have had a endoscopy and was told I have a fairly serious case of this disease, which is why I have swallowing difficulties and I given a prescription for flovent to treat it. However, I now have a $4000 deductible on my health insurance, and can no longer afford to spend $200 or $250 for the flovent inhaler. Canadian versions of the inhaler are slightly cheaper, but not by much.
Avatar f tn They then gave us Ventolin puffer to try to see if that helped, it didnt. Today they gave us Flovent to try twice daily. The only things he's really said to us are: it feels like something's pushing on his stomach, and a couple times he's mentioned the "throw up" and once he said about the "juicys in my throat". But then a couple other times he's said it feels like it's hard to breathe. We have no idea what to think.
1570941 tn?1295664225 Use only the prescribed dose of this medicine and talk with your doctor about your individual risks and benefits of using Ventolin. An overdose of Ventolin can be fatal. Watch out for nervousness, headache, tremor, dry mouth, chest pain or heavy feeling, rapid or uneven heart rate, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, dizziness, seizure, feeling light-headed or fainting. Take care always.

Avatar m tn I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well. Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
20811006 tn?1518459943 s over works (Renal doc explained it that way to me) and a slow heart beat 46+ average at rest (Have been tested multiply times by cardiologist and he cannot find a cause and says heart is healthy and not to be concerned) so also very concerned what taking Flovent everyday could make these problems worse.
Avatar f tn I went to three different endos who were not very helpful. The edema spread to my hands, face and neck and I took myself off Flovent two summers ago and vomited several times from withdrawal and had a major stomachache. I had two asthma attacks that summer and was put back on Flovent. To make a long story short, my entire body is now swollen and it kills me to stand on my feet----I'm on my feet 8 hours a day at my job.
