So, it is safe to flonase. It can sometimes cause loss of smell or taste and voice changes. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Hey i am so desperate!!! I have been getting this terrible taste and smell off and on for about two years now and i have no idea where it comes from. I get it almost every day and it will last all day or even a week. It seems to happen alot if i sneeze, laugh out loud, yell or scream, and even sometimes if i blow my nose. My sister gets is too and her doctor told her it sounded like acid reflux. I dont bvelieve it is .
A little over year ago I started developing a bad smell/taste in my mouth that was induced my snorting (when my throat and nose was itchy)..it wouldnt last very long. but I noticed that after about a few months later I would get them randomly like if i sneezed or breathed in/out really hard. it would last for hours or unless I lied down on my right side (the affecting nose was my right nose). however, my left side also has had the same occurences. This occured a few times a month.
I have been experiencing the same thing for about a week or so--smell cigarette smoke when no smoke exists. Thought it was coming from the AC vent in my office but then started smelling it in car and at home. The strange thing is that when I inhale, sometimes the odor is so real I feel my eyes slightly burning as if I were sitting next to someone smoking. I am 40 yrs. old, never smoked, have been off depression meds for about 8 mos. No recent sinus infections.
Hello, For a while i have been smelling a burning smell in my nose, kind of like smoke. It's not constant, somedays it's there and some it's not, i don't know what it is, i searched around and couldn't really find much, any info would be great.
Last Friday I wanted to do a good clean sweep of my head and do one spray of flonase (Fluticasone Propionate) in each nostril. The stuff knocks my sense of smell and taste out for about a day but it has always worked very well for me. At least it has until now. I'm not sure if it's just my allergies or what, but I now have this constant weird smell in my nose that I can't tell if it's from the mucus or maybe a slight infection or something (which I wouldn't doubt).
I'm not sure when this started but every once in awhile I'll get the sinus clearing feeling in my nose and it smells almost like a talc or powder smell mixed with ammonia. I will get it after working out on the treadmill or sometimes just doing simple things around the house. It isn't an everyday thing but a few times a week and it lasts for about 5 minutes or less. It isn't coming off my body but deep in my sinuses. After taking Tylenol I can smell Tylenol in my system.
Why do I have the constant smell of smoke in my nose. It used to be just an occasional thing, but lately it seems to be all the time. I am concerned that this is a symptom of something I don't know about. The smell is strong. I used to notice it about a half hour after taking my Allegra-D 12 hr. tablets, but now I smell it much more often. Am I going crazy or is there something to this I'm not aware of. Has anyone else experienced this? Please help?
I can be in the shower or laying in bed and the smell won't go away, it smells like i'm in an enclosed garage with a gas powered vehicle running. Is this common?, I have never had any allergies.
The mucus in my nose is green and dry. Probabley becouse of this, I have bad nose smell. Freinds and people told me that I have very bad smell like rotten egg. I can't close people and talk freely. Once I was advised to wash my nose with sallt every day. But this doesnot give me a long lasting solution. What shall I do ? Is it curable? Please give me your advice specially how can aviod my bad nose smell specially via home tretment.
I lost my smell and taste (like usual) but it never completely came back. I was also using flonase back then. I couldn't smell or taste much of anything (except for sage). After about 4 months I stopped the flonase (I have allergies). Now I have some smell and taste. But I can't identify food by taste or smell without a visual. I guess my olfactory nerve is damaged. Anyone else have this happen?
my doctor gave me the perfect way to get rid of the ammonia splitters in my nose. first you need an atibiotic like augmenten, flonase nasal spay, but most impotratnlty nielmed salt spray for the nose {this product is amazing, use it 4 times a day for ten days and the smell is gone!} also you need a mucinex 1 every 4 to 6 hours. and before you go to sleep you take a qu-tip and put triple antibiotic, like neosporin, up both sides of the nose. this keeps the infection from spreading.
The smell and taste can be brought on by sneezing, his nose dripping or running, or by using flonase (or other nasal sprays). In addition, the smell and taste can also come on randomly. For example, he has gotten the smell and taste while he is watching television or in the middle of eating lunch. Time of the day generally doesn’t matter, but he has noticed that he tends to get the smell and taste less on weekends.
I have simply dealt with it to the best of my ability and used OTC's and flonase. I even quit smoking thinking that was causing it, I was wrong and am once again this fall (2008) suffering from it as I type. My face feels but does not look swollen, I have deep pain directly in the center of my nose between my eyes, ( right where the olfactory gland is located BTW) and I am treating it once again with flonase and sudafed OTC.
is there anyway to stop this polyp from growing up and this polyp produce many yellow mucus with very bad smell can he does any thing to this and for the smell can he do anything to stop that .
when I get stressed out or dont exericise, I notice a flare up. I take flonase for a couple of days and it seems to get better. So you should have allergy tests done to see if it is that first. You might have problems with your sinuses causing the ETD. I would see an ENT if you havent already. both my general doc and my ENT said to use flonase to help with the ETD. I hope this helps!!! Best of luck to you!!
i have an upper respiratory infection and was put on ciprofloxacin, tussionex, and flonase. I want to know if antibotics in general can alter a womens natural smell or odor in her vaginia? not fishy just unpleasent or different from medicine. not itching or discharge just different smell when having sex and have orgasim?
Hi, welcome to the forum, the loss of taste and smell is commonly encountered with allergic rhinitis, nonallergic rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, and nasal polyposis with certain drugs or zinc deficiency. It requires relief of the obstruction and treatment of the accompanying infection, if present. You need to undergo the test for Flavor discrimination test and Somatosensory testing to know the extent of involvement.
In the past year my left nostral seems to produce green nasal fluid, which tends to happen in the day time. It has a very strong smell and tastes awful when it goes to my throat. I have been to my doctors and they have said it is environmental. I have been given antibiotics but this has not helped.
Red burning for a month and u havent gone to your ENT specialist. White lesions could be either pustules or ulcer. Is it on ur inner cheek or is it on the tonsil. For burning throat, gargle with salt water immediately and keep doing it. Take Montelukast+levocetirizine for 10 days one daily(0-0-1) preferably night. take multivitamins and gargle with Tantum before food, betadine(1:5) and hydrogen peroxide(1:10) after food for three days. Take dichlo for pain relieving for 2 days(1-0-1).
It reduces my ability to talk, smell, and overall enjoy life. I've tried relatively everything and seen many doctors. flonase and allegra seem to help most in combination, but the effect is minimal. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I can smell the dog as strong as a burning cigar, strong smell! I don't think I smell the dog because after I take antihistamine I can't smell the dog much at all. Make sense? I can smell everything else still. I have been getting allergy shots for pet but it's not helping with my specific dog but has for other dogs, cats ect. My asthma is triggered right away, chocking and sore throat. Do you think it's the dog or food or something making him smell to me and only me.
i stroke my head to the roof off a car door about 4 months ago and two weeks later started smelling bad odor from my nose, i went to hospital but the doctor the s nothing wrong with me and can't even smell anything.
I did notice a small fan helps and benadryl and flonase. It has to be allergy but i keep getting infections also when i wake i smell a pungent acidic odder that goes away if i irrigate and blow my nose.
I have to cut grass with a mask on because the smell overwhelmed me. I thougth not a big deal but now I pretty much have to ride with the windows up because the smell of dirt/dust/cornfields, roadwork(paving), strong smells etc. bothers me. Luckily I have an inhaler left over from earlier this year and it helps. My nose is always stuffy, get watery eyes not any sneezing really. I got prescribed some nasonex which seems crappy.
I've been having this bad smell in my nose and it ***** because I'm always too embarrassed to socialize w/people because of my breath too and even when I breathe from my nose it lingers in the air. What I smell is like a stinky maneuer smell...or fart. My ENT doctor suggested that I have my sinuses drained and to shrink my turbinates because they are most of the time inflated. Right now I'm gonna see if I have allergies just in case before I have the surgery.
The day before the extraction I had noticed a foul smell, but thought nothing of it. Later as in a week later I discovered that the smell was coming from my nose! I saw my Doc and apparently he says that it's a form of sinusitis and he put me on flonase to help with the nasal passages and clindamycin to help kill the infection. Hopefully it works because the smell is unbearable! Hopefully it works and I will reply to let you all know the results in about a week.
Sometimes I will need to hack at least 3-5 times to clear my throat. I have this terrible smell sometimes when I blow my nose. I feel like there is mucus just sitting in the back of my throat. I sometimes blow bright yellow discharge from my nose and hack up yellow mucus sometimes. I took 10 days of antibiotics in March and also have done another round of antibiotics in October of this year. I still have the same problem.

I have been smelling smoke for about a month now. It's awful. I hate the smell of smoke. If I was going to smell something all the time why couldn't it be fresh baked bread or something that smells good. I do not smoke myself and am never around smoke. I also am on metropol for high blood pressure and am 46 years old. I have been to the doctor and he said it could be a sinus infection but then ruled that out with an x-ray. He says he does not know what the problem is.
