Common Questions and Answers about Flonase nasal inhaler

flovent

Avatar m tn Hi I have the same issue. esphagitis (just got another endoscopy). they say its from acid reflux. Ive tried ALL of the different reflux medications none work. My doc suggested flovent inhaler but my insurance doesn't cover name brands and its like $250. The nasal spray is $15 for me because it is generic and the pharmacy accidentally prescribed it to me. My doc has no opinion on it. Does anyone have any good experience with the nasal spray via the mouth for esophagis problems?
Avatar m tn d use my inhaler and I would get that instant relief us asthmatics feel. A few years ago I had an odd experience with my asthma, my chest was tight and I was very short of breath. My inhaler didn't do anything and nebulizer treatments didn't seem to help either. After an hour I felt better but from that day on my breathing/asthma has never been the same.
Avatar n tn The pediatrician has said her symptoms are from allergies so she has been on Zyrtec and Flonase for awhile now. That has helped in the past but for the last 4-5 months she is complaining of these symptoms even when she does not have a cold. He has also prescribed an inhaler that helps when she gets a bad coughing attack but she is still saying it is hard to breath in her throat. I am wondering if she has enlarged adnoids.
Avatar f tn The longer you wait, the better chance the Flonase has of being absorbed into your nasal cavity. The most common recommendation is 15 to 30 minutes to wait to blow your nose after using. https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-1474/flonase-nasal/details Let us know how it goes!
464237 tn?1315670793 The pain went away within two hours yesterday after shots buit woke up this morning and pain is back as well as the post nasal drip. The doctor also prescribed me Flonase nasal spray for the infection but I read the info on it and it says do not take if you have an infection because it is a steroid and it lowers the immune systom. So I'm terrified to use it because I don't want the infection to get even worse. How is it ok to use flonase for bacterial infection?
1939607 tn?1324289300 yeast infections of the throat and sinus problems (also Flonase side-effects). Almost all mentioned taking Flonase or similar nasal sprays for the initial illness (cold or sinus infection). I believe that people start taking the flonase to help cold/flu/sinus infection, and then it gives us this traveling, achy sore in the Eustachian tubes. I often cough up these dry little patches after a cold, like tiny white scabs.
Avatar m tn He also has albuterol inhaler and Flonase. However, it does not work sometime like the last 2 nights. The flonase really made it worst so I stop. He has this about a year off and on, but worse when the weather change.I have air filter and huminifier at home as well. Myself, I started having sinus issue only recently about 2-3 years. I have post nasal drop 2-3x per week. Sometime mild and sometime very bad.
746512 tn?1388807580 ve had exactly the same symptoms as you for the past 5 years or so. Like you I had the Flonase (Flixonase - here in the UK) nasal spray and it did absolutely nothing! Finally I saw an ENT Doctor at my local surgery who prescribed Flixonase (Flonase) Nasule drops which are much stronger and the relief was unbelievable. For the first time in years I could actually breathe through my nose and I stopped coughing throughout the night.
Avatar n tn He put me on Nasonex, a steroid nasal spray, to reduce the inflammation. I also hear my heartbeat in my ear at times, and he's hoping that a month on Nasonex will stop that. If not, he'll do a CT scan and other work to see what's going on. Here's my question: Are any of you using something like Nasonex or Flonase? I do have a headache behind my eyes and feel tired a lot, but I had that before too.
Avatar m tn //www.rxlist.com/flonase-side-effects-drug-center.htm - which is probably why your doctor said to stop using it. If your cough got better using it, maybe it was helping some allergy symptoms, like post-nasal drip. Did you ask your doctor what he meant, or try to clarify anything? Always feel free to ask questions and clarify anything you don't understand with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know of a medication that can shrink nasal polyps without the use of corticosteroids?? I currently take flonase, but need to discontinue usage due to the fact that I'm trying to fight off an infection. Thanks for any info that can be provided !!
Avatar m tn Called the pulmonologist in the morning. Gave my flonase and 6 days of steroids to take for my post nasal drip. he said that my post nasal drip was probably irritating my lungs pretty good and that the slight wheezing i had was coming from my vocal chords.as time has gone on i notice my symptoms mostly at night, such as coughing and a slight tightness in chest. Feels like theres a lot of stuff in my throat. Such as this morning.
Avatar f tn I'm also taking Fluticasone Propionate and have the very same issue. I think it's because the nasal spray dries out the nasal cavity. At first, I started having bloody noses, but then that stopped and this current symptom started. My doctor had said it may make the nose very dry and to try saline solution once daily after the Flonase. I have yet to do that, but it's supposed to help. Hope that helps.
579469 tn?1311705550 I know Rhinocort which is a steriod nose inhaler works awesome, its similiar to flonase, nasonex, etc. You will get releif in a week or so. With my steriod shot and allegra d, flonase and putting a cu-tip way up my nose with a little afrin on it helped big time. I am a Big baby too and I got off it in less than a week. I just read about Rhinostat and its basicly afrin diluted with saline sloution. A longer wean.
Avatar f tn Go over ingredients in your nasal inhaler with your dr. There may be things added that aren't safe for the baby. I had to change my face lotion because of an added ingredient that can cause birth defects.
Avatar n tn You can try over-the-counter medications like Claritin or Zyrtec. Steroid nasal sprays like Flonase are also helpful, but they require a prescription by a physician. If medical management fails, immunotherapy (allergy shots) might be required.
Avatar f tn I caught a cold about 2 weeks ago and I developed a sinus infection. I have a history of Asthma, High Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea and Sero-Negative Rheumatoid Arthritis. My best peak flow is 500. I am a 56 year old woman and was not on any preventative asthma meds at the time of catching the cold and development of the sinus infection.
Avatar f tn Hello! I've been dealing with stuffiness on and off for about 3-4 weeks now. Originally my doctors thought it was a sinus infection and gave me antibiotics. However, I think it started off with bad allergies (possibly) and because I used Afrin longer than suppose to, I'm thinking it turned into rebound congestion. Some days I have 0 congestion and some days I have some. Recently I started to cut down on the afrin (I went from twice a day to once a day) and I'm using Flonase.
Avatar n tn Tough question. There are many reasons for post nasal drip and tinnitus. If your nose is still running, could it be sinusitis? Do notice any weird smells from your nose? Headaches? A chronic sinus infection will cause post nasal drip. But it could be that one month with Flonase isn't long enough to get your symptoms under control. I would say 2 months would be more reasonable to decide if there is something else. this type of therapy takes a while for things to set in.
Avatar f tn Several years ago my doctor told me I had post nasal drip and prescribed Flonase. I use it every morning. But at night I snore really bad. My poor husband has really bad sinus issues, worse than mine but he doesn't snore half as bad as me. But when I wake up in the morning I have so much mucus in my throat and I can't cough it all up, just some. My nose isn't too bad in the mornings but it gets worse throughout the day.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar f tn Flonase, is that for nasal congestion? I have tried it for chronic night time nasal congestion... it "sort of" works. Has it worked well for you, bump aside? I love Afrin, but it can not be used more than a few days in a row. I have pushed it too far and have suffered some rebound. I understand Flonase/Generic does not risk "rebound".
