464237 tn?1315670793 The pain went away within two hours yesterday after shots buit woke up this morning and pain is back as well as the post nasal drip. The doctor also prescribed me Flonase nasal spray for the infection but I read the info on it and it says do not take if you have an infection because it is a steroid and it lowers the immune systom. So I'm terrified to use it because I don't want the infection to get even worse. How is it ok to use flonase for bacterial infection?
Avatar f tn Several years ago my doctor told me I had post nasal drip and prescribed Flonase. I use it every morning. But at night I snore really bad. My poor husband has really bad sinus issues, worse than mine but he doesn't snore half as bad as me. But when I wake up in the morning I have so much mucus in my throat and I can't cough it all up, just some. My nose isn't too bad in the mornings but it gets worse throughout the day.
Avatar n tn There are many reasons for post nasal drip and tinnitus. If your nose is still running, could it be sinusitis? Do notice any weird smells from your nose? Headaches? A chronic sinus infection will cause post nasal drip. But it could be that one month with Flonase isn't long enough to get your symptoms under control. I would say 2 months would be more reasonable to decide if there is something else. this type of therapy takes a while for things to set in.
Avatar m tn I have had asthma my whole life and when I got it (maybe a few times a month max) i'd use my inhaler and I would get that instant relief us asthmatics feel. A few years ago I had an odd experience with my asthma, my chest was tight and I was very short of breath. My inhaler didn't do anything and nebulizer treatments didn't seem to help either. After an hour I felt better but from that day on my breathing/asthma has never been the same.
Avatar f tn ve had nonstop post nasal drip. Now my jaws top and bottom get achy at times and It sometimes travels down my neck. My throat feels irritated and when I eat it feels like a lump or tight. The thyroid is not causing this. I started Flonase a few days ago and Allegra. My question is should I be worried that it's throat cancer or something serious. I would think having 2 thyroid ultrasounds something would be seen. Also no swollen glands or lymph nodes. I'm scared to death.

Avatar m tn t really help much. My friend is a doctor so he thought it was post nasal drip, without seeing her he had her try Flonase. It seemed like she could be on extending non-coughing periods but she still does it. Now it's getting annoying and we have a baby on the way and it's making me feel uncomfortable to think she will be handling the baby. She doesn't speak well enough to tell me all of the symptoms. But from what I observed she's not sneezing a lot.
Avatar f tn In an effort to fight off the post nasal drip, I did some research and found that to kill the post-nasal drip from allergies, try the Flonase allergy spray. So, I went and got some yesterday and did the 2 puffs up the nose twice yesterday. So imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and my tonsils, both of them, were swollen to where it was hard to swallow.
Avatar f tn I have had seasonal allergies along with dust, cat and dog allergies too since 30 years ago. I finally had 5 years of allegy shot ending aroung 2005, This year has been so bad with all the pollen I feel like I'm right back to day one. My eyes are itchy, my nose runs and my palate is so itchy. I take Atrovent for post nasal drip, aerius for the allergies and I'm also on Advair 250 discuss. 345124 tn?1234483278 The only thing the doctors have ever noticed is that my eardrum is pulled in from allergic rhinitis with post-nasal drip. Could you tell me if your treatment successfully helped you? I'd love to get this fixed.
Avatar f tn I have chronic post nasal drip. I've had it for several years. The ENT told me I have a narrow passage and mild deviated septum. He told me Flonase wouldn't help me much. So I just take allergy meds and use saline when needed. But the past month I have been getting these pains/headache above my left eye, actually above my eyebrow. It comes and goes several times a day. It only last 30 seconds to maybe a couple minutes but I was thinking it was due to sinuses or allergies?
Avatar m tn Myself, I started having sinus issue only recently about 2-3 years. I have post nasal drop 2-3x per week. Sometime mild and sometime very bad. I have all kind of allergy meds and snose spray Nasonex, which works good most of time. Last night, when my son cough so much. And I was so deperate; I gave him my Nasonex 1 buff in each nostril and he stop coughing in about 5 mins. It's mirracle to me.
Avatar f tn I have tinnitus and post nasal drip. I notice it mostly when I'm home. When I go on vacation the tinnitus is not noticeable and my post nasal drip eases up. Could the these be caused by allergies? Could they be something I'm allergic to either in my home or environment? I have had allergy testing for foods and air borne pollens, etc. I am allergic to dust mites. Could that be a culprit? I live in a fairly dry environment.
612551 tn?1450022175 For reference, I have ongoing trouble with nasal congestion when lying down, sleep time. Afrin and generic work great, but if I use for a week or more I start have sneezing problems. I have other less effective means and use Afrin just a time or two a week when I feel I just can't take it any longer. If moisturizing give something I'll pay extra.. in fact I have on bottle on order. So I can answer my own question in the near future.
Avatar f tn Infected tooth roots from the upper teeth can go inside the maxillary sinus and cause sinusitis. The post nasal drip could be due to this. You might need a CT of the sinuses for more information. However, if you do have an infected tooth, you will still need to have this addressed as dental infections can be potentially life-threatening. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have post nasal drip and also an upset stomach a lot of the time. When my stomach is sick, the only way to help it feel better is to eat. But then that doesn't last too long. Do you think my upset stomach is de to the dripping? What do you think is the best remedy for this? Thank you - This discussion is related to HELP!! Can Chronic Post Nasal Drip Cause Stomach Problems? Can allergy symptoms change?.
Avatar m tn It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Around April last year I had a bad sinus infection, triggered by seasonal allergies. I had a bad post nasal drip, and although the sinus didn't feel blocked, XRays showed it was. I was experiencing facial tightness and tingling sensation around the same time as my sinus issues started. It was also a highly stressful period in my life. I had multiple courses of steroids, antibiotics, over the counter medication, the sinus issue remains.
Avatar f tn Quite detailed blood tests seem fine apart from elevated IgE (1000), no visible signs of allergy, but I developed lately post nasal drip. Anyone heard what may cause such symptoms and how to cure them? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I too suffer with awful post nasal drip and also gerd. I take zyrtec and Rhinocort Aqua, it is nasal spray and it does help. I have tried other nasal sprays but this one seems to work the best.
Avatar m tn The other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the wind pipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people.

Avatar n tn I have had post-nasal drip/chronic sinusitis/chronic bronchitis for all my very long life. I used to get 2 or three coughs a year that lasted for weeks, sometimes ending in pleurisy. I went to doctors, and eventually had to diagnose my problem myself: my sinuses were dripping down my throat and becoming infected and causing the cough. Eventually I had a CTscan of my sinuses and the official diagnosis: Chronic sinusitis.
