Flonase and bloody nose

Common Questions and Answers about Flonase and bloody nose

flovent

42 YO Female. Over a year ago I was prescribed flonase to deal with inflamed sinuses and air hunger. After a short time, all was well.(We adopted cats around that time). Overtime, I developed mucousy/white discharge every morning (not a lot). I basically left it alone as the flonase was working and I had no real complaints.
I'm a first time mommy and I've never had a problem with nose congestion before I became pregnant but now I have to blow my nose 12+ times a day and its mixed with blood every time I'm now 16+2 and its been going on since week 6 everyday is this normal?
At first, I started having bloody noses, but then that stopped and this current symptom started. My doctor had said it may make the nose very dry and to try saline solution once daily after the Flonase. I have yet to do that, but it's supposed to help. Hope that helps.
or just left over mucus of nasal sprays etc - im trying to stop using any nasal spray now apart from saline spray which has no drugs in it today i woke up and blew my nose and was not too bad - as soon as i leave the house and get to work - my nose is running and when i blow its clear mucus - on a good note my nose doesnt feel sore at all - its definatly snotty though - when i breathe in through nose its not clear like im sure most people's are!
I have been using Warfarin for many years and only after the troublesome nose bleed a couple of months back did I start getting some blood when blowing nose hard.. and only on the left side, the side that had the bleed problem. There must be something weak on that blood barrier. The ENT didn't want to do and cauterization work following the troublesome nose bleed..it may be (don't remember) the is nothing to cauterize as the whole area is just "weak"...
very often at least one nostril becomes fatter as though a spot has formed inside my nose, even though it hasn't and my nose goes tough and sore - i got that dry nose thing (forgotten terminology) as a kid how it all crusts up and u cant breathe and even tho i never get ill i always seem to have a sore nose - :( x
I also have had sinus infections, the same crusty, bloody nasal passages that Cougareyes described, and my doctor says that the meds make us extra sensitive to allergens and it simply is part to tx. Saline irrigation, Flonase (which irritates my nose and I don't use it often),and antibiotics for bacterial infection is about all we have to fight back with.
Due to recurrent sinusitis and/or bronchitis, I started a nasal wash/Flonase regime 2 yrs. ago, which initially helped considerably. Then, I recently underwent a spate of bronchitis bouts (audible wheezing and phlelgm from bronchi), which then appeared to travel to the sinuses. However, the sinus congestion has been much less than before the wash and Flonase. I got clear to yellow phlegm from my bronchi, and then a little from my sinuses.
She said Ragweed and another alergen are vey high in Dallas from Sept to Jan. When I asked about the bloody nose on the left side only, she said that the left side of my nose looked irritated and that, it was also a result of allergies. She prescribed R-Tanna. 3. When I asked why my lymph nodes in the left jaw have continually swelled off and on for 7 weeks, she said that it is not my lymph nodes. She said that she suspects I have a stone in my salivary gland.
Since I have been taking these daily, I have found breathing out of my nose to be easier however every morning when I wake up I am coughing up thick globs from my throat that almost look like snot. They are white/yellow in color and are very thick. One time when waking up I blew my nose and there were trace blood spots and when I coughed up the thick mucus it was bloody. Throughout the day I do not cough up any of the thick mucus globs, it is just initially when I am waking up.
it didn't show up on my ekg so the dr. put me on a halter monitor. it all started when i took flonase for a bloody nose and i discontinued using it after 5 days. what is causing this problem? is it a serious condition? can i die from it? please help.
After some CT scans, heart and blood pressure monitors, blood work, etc, they haven't found anything majorly wrong and determined it was a blocked eustacian tube and told me to take Claritin and Flonase nasal spray. I've been on that for 3 weeks and it's only partially helped. Now the dizziness/imbalance only bothers me when I am walking around alot or moving my head/neck alot. Don't feel like I'm going to pass out but it's still an unpleasant feeling.
My GP ordered a sinus x-ray in 2006, no polyps or infection at that point were seen (this was post antibiotic course for sinus infection in right cavity). Just saw an ENT for the bloody nose catheter removal about 8 months ago and was told he didn't see anything abnormal except that my sinuses must be the cause of the bleeding from visual inspection.
The nasal congestion that results blocks the sinuses, preventing drainage of mucus into the nose and mouth. The sinus mucus then builds up and thickens, and infection in the sinuses becomes more likely. Infectious sinusitis can also be caused by a bacterial infection or sometimes by a fungal infection. Allergic sinusitis is caused by an allergic reaction to dust, mold, pollen, or another substance in the environment.
After a round of Augmentin and daily use of Flonase and a sinus wash, I am feeling much better. Just wanted to say thanks for helping me find the courage to go to the doctor!
His nose is now clear but he always sounds like his head is full. He has had frequent bloody noses since he was a toddler and last year in school, he was hit with a football and his nose bled so bad they called us to come get him as they thought he needed to go to the hospital. We got the bleeding stopped. I guess my questions are: 1. Can getting strep so much be harmful? Can it hurt your heart? 2. Do these bloody noses mean he might have a structural problem? 3.
I literally could not get out of my bed four about 5 days. I was taking flonase and decongestants regularly because my doctor assumed it was a cold that was blocking my eustachian tubes and causing fluid build up in my ears and sinuses. I was taking a lot of ibuprofen during this time for the ear pain so I don't know if a fever would have otherwise been present.
I just finished my 3rd round of antibiotics and Flonase but I still have facial/neck pressure and feeling like my nose it stuffy all the time and someone is pushing on my cheek. I had a CT done in the ER because the pressure was so intense, that showed Mild Para nasal sinus disease/mucoperiosteal thickening. I saw my ENT and she said since I have been having issues for so many years that she wants to go in and clear out my maxillary sinuses, reduce my turbinate's and shave my septum.
So I’m guess the pain I’m feeling is a mixture of a lot of tissues removed and a broken nose probably doesn’t help. I can’t even open my eyes, I’m so puffy and it hurts way too much to look at anything. Right now since I’m on meds I’d say the pain was similar to someone smacking you in the head with a hammer and getting kicked in the face. 5:00 p.m. A few instructions and some medication, I’m sent home. There is gauze under my nose to catch some of the blood and oozing from my stitches.
I say this because I can't remember ever being this sick! I started with a bloody nose maybe in middle of Feburary. I felt a little congested but not bad. By the end of Feb I broke out with the worst sinus infection in my life! I was draining everywhere. Heres how it started the day before I got sick I was eating dinner and felt as tho I got something caught in my throat. I went to the doc the following day and she said ooh its something viral.
I never really got bloody noses, on occasion id have a little blood, but this was unusual and never flowed like a bloody nose. Recently ive noticed a kind of slit inside my right nostril on the bottom of the cavity, sort of where the base of the septum(i think thats the divider of the cavities) meets the bottom of the nostril...it looks like a little chip in my nostril, like a tiny valley between two hills, rather than smooth across.
Heed these warnings and it won’t. WHENEVER YOU BLOW SNOT AND PHLEGM AND PUS OUT OF YOUR NOSE, ALWAYS BLOW IT OUT ONE NOSTRIL ONLY. Press the other nostril closed with your finger. IF YOU DO OTHERWISE, YOU CAN BLOW THE INFECTION INTO YOUR EARS OR THE PART OF YOUR NOSE WHERE YOUR SENSE OF SMELL IS. NEVER BLOW YOUR NOSE AS HARD AS YOU CAN. THIS CAN BLOW THE INFECTION INTO YOUR EARS OR THE PART OF YOUR NOSE WHERE YOUR SENSE OF SMELL IS. Blow very very very gently.
the surgery caused me to have chronic headaches and migrains, constant plem from chest and nose, nerve pain with my teeth, cheeks, nose, and eyes, plus i have lost my sense of smell most days and my sense of taste is gone most days. i also have severe allergies, but not to any foods. i also, i know this is really gross, i also get huge, and i mean huge green, yellow and bloody chunks of mucus from my nose. i have chronic nasal drip and chest congestion!!!
That just made it worse and made me have a sore throat and feel very sick. I also began getting some blood in my snot, not a bloody nose. I thought maybe I had a really bad sinus infection and the prednisone was relieving the inflammation and allowing all of the yucky blue and green snot to come out. Since, the prednisone didn't help, I had a sinus CT scan.
Hi there........my nose drips and gets so stuffy and sometimes gooey yellow stuff and blood. I go se the GI tomorrow.......I bought a humidifer and it does help.....the nose bleeds have stopped...but the drip, and stuffiness still plays havoc.....Other than some fatigue, i consider myself very lucky compared to some..... I will do #9/48 tomorrow......

I went to the Dr and they put me on Allegra and Flonase since they think that I have allergies and I can feel mucus going down my throat and since I have a hyper active gag reflex that its making me want to gag. I have been on the medicine for almost a week now and I notice no difference and I see feel like gagging all the time! The only thing that makes me feel better is having a piece of hard candy in my mouth. I was also put on acid reflux medicine a while back b/c the Dr.
The nose was so sensitive to touch, if my husband leaned close to kiss me and his breath touched my nose it would tickle it and cause a sneeze! Weird! The terrible thing is some times the sneeze itself triggers another you get so stuffed up but drippy too, that you can hardly breathe for fear of more sneezes. You can stand up and start to sneeze! A fan blowing can trigger it, cooler air form an air con, then going into warmer air.
with it (dizzy, feeling of leaning to one side, preasure behind eyes and top of head, chest burning and tightness, difficulty swallowing, the feeling that my arms and legs are not really attached even though I can see them, panic attacks, ears blocked all the time)  I never had sinus problems in my life and one day I was just standing against a wall minding my own business and all of a sudden I felt like I was on free fall at six flags but I was standing completely still.
He's also on DDAVP for bloody noses, Singulair, Patonal, Flonase, Allegra, Flovent, Albuterol, and topical cream for eczema.
