Flomax use for women

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax use for women

flomax

233622 tn?1279334905 My urogynecologist had me try flomax, but unfortunately after a month it was apparent it was only making my urgency worse. I am troubled by retention and urgency. Funny - they had to really work with our insurance to get this filled because I also don't have a prostate and its use in women is definitely off-label. Be sure and visit their website and signup for their promotions. I just got another $20 off coupon in my email the other day. Glad it works for you!
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. How does Flomax help you? Are you able to fully empty your bladder now?
Avatar m tn I am 77 years old and have been taking Flomax for about 2 years. I have had cool thermo therapy for enlarged prostrate about 2 years ago. Unrination is really no problem anymore, but I have a problem with getting erections and now when I ejaculate I have no semon in me. Also have a runny nose mostly in the a.m. What is your advice and opinion for this problem. Thank you This discussion is related to use of Flomax.
Avatar m tn Hello, Flomax is used for the treatment of BPH and if you are having side effects to this drug then you can use other alpha blockers like doxazosin, terazosin, alfuzosin or 5 alpha reductase inhibitors like finasteride and dutasteride. Effects may take longer to appear than alpha blockers, but they persist for many years. But they are available under prescription and should always be taken under a medical guidance. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
Avatar f tn My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar m tn I did not associate it with flomax until recently. Is it harmful if I stop taking the flomax and is this the cause of my retro? This discussion is related to Retrograde Ejaculation from Flomax......permanent or not?.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far?
Avatar f tn 4 mg for 4 days for a kidney stone. I think this drug should never have been approved for use for anyone. I had no idea why I was feeling like I have a cold, very stuffy nose, headache, blurred vision, abdominal pain, lower back pain and lastly a bloody nose that started me looking at the side effects of this medicine... It causes all the symptoms I just listed. Why would anyone prescribe this medicine unless they are receiving payment from the drug company manufacturing it!
1831849 tn?1383228392 I saw my urologist he other day and she said that she now like Rapaflo (slidosin) more than Flomax (tamsulosin) for urinary hesitancy. Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3.
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
Avatar m tn Hi, I suggest you seek follow up consult with your physician for a thorough testicular examination. This may have been present prior to use of your medications. A testicular ultrasound may be able to help. In your part continue doing a self testicular exam and note any further changes in the scrotal structures.
Avatar n tn Having done some research before recieving your reply, I did come across information regarding the use of tamsulosin, also known as Flomax, being used for orgasmic pain. The only problem is if you are on Viagra therapy you cannot take Flomax because of the interactions. You can stop the Viagra but then taking Flomax will be of no use if you are not able to acheive an erection without Viagra.
Avatar n tn I'm a male, age 18, and I'm having a whole lot of trouble urinating. I've had trouble with this in the past, but god, it's never been this bad. A few years ago I first noticed difficulty peeing at my ex girlfriend's house. Looking into the condition, I figured it must be paruresis. However, last year, after getting surgery (I had a pilonidal sinus removed), I found that I COULD NOT pee when I got home.
Avatar n tn While I am not an expert in the use of this medication for the treatment of BPH, it seems that it is available as an over the counter supplement in parts of Europe. Evidently it is considered to be relatively safe, but as with all herbal medications, it should be used with caution. This herb may be contraindicated in individuals with active bleeding (eg, peptic ulcer, intracranial bleeding).
Avatar n tn In my opinion, sounds like the flomax which he probably is taking for his prostate. Either the dosage should be decreased or the medication changed completely. Does he have a heart issue, a bp issue or just this prostate issue? He definitely needs to have this followed up with a physician; good luck with that.
Avatar m tn Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
Avatar f tn It seems that the surgeon had difficulty implanting the intra-ocular lens as I had been taking Flomax. He stopped the procedure to get my permission to use a more flexible lens to which I agreed. The procedure was completed. On follow up two weeks later my vision had not resolved (blurred) and the surgeon advised that there was an inflamation which he hoped would go away with heavy application of Maxidex eye drops.
