flomax

Avatar m tn I think flomax is bad it causes tiredness. maybe it causes permanent exhaustion and muscle weakness?
233622 tn?1279334905 My urogynecologist had me try flomax, but unfortunately after a month it was apparent it was only making my urgency worse. I am troubled by retention and urgency. Funny - they had to really work with our insurance to get this filled because I also don't have a prostate and its use in women is definitely off-label. Avatar n tn Does anyone here have detrusor sphincter dyssynergia or urinary retention and if so how are you treating it?
Avatar n tn He may not have been emptying his bladder even with the flomax and he may have developed further urinary retention. If he has taken any decongestants or antihistamines, they may have worked against the drug and, again, resulted in further emptying difficulties. Call the urologist to discuss it. He probably will need to be seen. S.A.Liroff, M.D. "This information is provided for general medical educational purposes only.
Avatar f tn The act of urinating is very complex and takes a variety of signals to do it right, and completely, Urinary retention or other problems usually indicate spinal lesions, that are interferring with the signals. There are ways to help out with this problem -be sure to talk to your doctor(s) about treating your problems.
Avatar m tn 32 year old healthy male. Have had on and off urinary frequency for about 7 or 8 years now. Been to 3 different urologists, none wanted to get invasive bc no infection, DRE showed OK, no blood...basically no signs of anything wrong. But I made these appointments for a reason. The urge frequency was sometimes unbearable!! Anyhow started on Flomax, and in just one day noticed the frequency (6-8x day to 4x) and urgency diminished. If no BPH...how is the Flomax working??? Thanks!
Avatar f tn My doc has scheduled another cystoscopy with bladder wash. I researched this and found that what he's looking for is possible bladder cancer. I have a h/o urine retention w/hypotonic bladder, neurogenic bladder, and had an interstim implant in March. F/up appt in June (3mos) went well, no problems, despite his comment that "if its not broken, don't fix it" with regard to keeping me on Flomax. Yet, a mere 2.
Avatar m tn Hi, How are you? Recurrent bouts of prostatitis or any urinary tract infection i.e., infection of any part of the urinary tract can affect the adjacent parts easily. As you already mentioned that you had recurrent prostatitis, there could be a chance of orchitis causing pain in the testicles and the cord. Also epididymitis may sometimes mimic this pain. Pain at the base of the penis could be due to balanitis. I would suggest that you get a urine analysis with culture done.
Avatar m tn You misunderstood the herpes symptoms you read online. Herpes lesions may itch, burn, etc and acute neuropathy can even cause urinary retention, but these are never the only sympoms of new herpes; they occur only in the presence of obvious herpetic blisters and sores, and usually with fever and other symptoms. All those would have happned within a few days of exposure.
Avatar m tn what is happening is that the semen is being released into your bladder. The flomax is designed to relax the urinary sphincter muscle so the semen, when you ejaculate, takes the path of least resistance- which is into your bladder... it's a weird concept but that is what is happening.
Avatar n tn Having an enlarged prostate can cause problems with urination in the form off having a hard time starting to urinate, urinary retention causing you to wake several times at night to urinate. When you go to the bathroom to urinate ussually it is just a small amount and then a few minutes to hours later you are woken up by the urge to urinate again. I was only around 30 when I started having these problems.
Avatar m tn Possibilities that may need to be considered include medication side effect, psychological issues such as anxiety, autonomic or hormonal/ endocrine imbalance, neuro-muscular issues etc. There is no specific time limit before urinary retention becomes an emergency; it usually depends on the amount of urine and more commonly on the severity of symptoms.
Avatar m tn Hi, my wife have a difficulty in urinating (Urinary retention). This happens only when she doesn't drink enough water especially during weekend or any off schedules days. She also experience the pain in the back where kidneys are located.Once she starts drinking water, problem resolves in couple of hours. I want to know that how serious is this a problem ? What is the reason and treatments ? Thank you !
1831849 tn?1383228392 I saw my urologist he other day and she said that she now like Rapaflo (slidosin) more than Flomax (tamsulosin) for urinary hesitancy. Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3.
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar n tn Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
Avatar m tn new symptoms -- pressure in the lower abdomen (pelvis and groin) and right side of what feels like bottom part of urinary tract, more uncomfortable when I stand (gravity?), and a constant urge to urinate (I am drinking more than 2 liters of water daily to try flush the stone). The pressure comes and goes, fluctuating in severity (like in a urinary tract Infection), and is alleviated by sitting in a warm tub. There is no pain in urination. I use a strainer, and thus far – no stone.
Avatar f tn I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Avatar n tn I was then sent to urologist who said postatitis, gave me flomax and said to alter diet to avoid acidic drinks/foods. After 6 weeks of flomax and eating a bland diet there was still no improvement. Went to another urologist who said prostatitis, gave me flomax and new antibiotics and prescribed 600mg ibuprofen 3 x day.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.
1221035 tn?1301000508 Urinary problems of all sorts are common with MS. Retention is a serious issue, as urine can back up into the kidneys and cause all kinds of problems from there. Also, the longer urine is in the bladder, the greater the chance of infection. UTIs can be dangerous, as many here know from experience. I urge you to see a urologist, or if possible a urogynecologist, as soon as you can. There are tests that can tell a lot about the state of your urinary functioning.
Avatar m tn Unexpectedly, 2 months ago I had my first Acute Urinary Retention episode, which I think was triggered by some “ejaculatory stress”. A series of catheterization and 2 more AUR’s followed, one after the other. Twice now I have removed the catheter (at doctor’s direction) to see if I could urinate without it. Both times I failed, and had to be recath’d The third test is coming up soon.
Avatar f tn That is if there is more than 200+ cc left in the bladder after you void. If you do have this problem (also called urinary retention), you should have bladder testing to determine why you are in retention; is it because your bladder muscle is refusing to contract to squeeze out the urine? or is it because your bladder outlet muscle is not relaxing to let the urine out?
