flomax twice a day

The urge frequency was sometimes unbearable!! Anyhow started on Flomax, and in just one day noticed the frequency (6-8x day to 4x) and urgency diminished. If no BPH...how is the Flomax working??? Thanks!

(sporadic sharp and dull pain, no other symptoms) I went to my GP and was diagnosed with a mild case of epididymitis and prescribed 500mg of cipro twice daily for seven days and 500 mg ibuprofin 2 times a day for 10 days. The pain subsided for two weeks and then returned. Went back to my GP and he prescribed me with 500mg cipro twice daily for 10 days. After a week without improvement I went to a Urologist. He confirmed epididymitis and instructed me to stop taking the cipro.

-) Intermittent self -catherization to empty the bladder completely may be a solution for you. Yes, I know there is a huge ick factor to the thought, but it really does make a difference. i have also had bladder botox twice to handle the mixed messages and am so glad they have approved that use. Both of these are game changers and i no longer fixate on where the nearest bathroom might be.

Hi, Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.

Do this once or twice before you want to ejaculate...can be over a period of a few hours too. This will increase the volume of your ejaculate. YES, Flomax seriously reduces the amount of ejaculate (to almost zero, in my case). Skipping one day will cause much more come on the following day (check with DR. first).

I have had foamy urine for about a year now. I went to my doctor and he did a blood workup and checked my urine. Everything came back normal. My PSA was fine, thyroid, liver, kidneys, cholesterol was 164 and my good and bad cholesterol were fine. My potassium level was 4.4 . He said everything was fine,but I still have real foamy urine. The Flomax was not working very well, initially and my MD switched me to Jalyn, mostly because of the CombaT Study which looked at combination regimens for BPH. The Jalyn (Flomax & Avodart) does a GREAT job and I am pretty much symptom free. My thought was that switching to Avodart alone would leave me with one less drug going into my system, keep my good results, and, hopefully reduce the IFIS risk.

I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of. The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day..... If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.

I read a question that a person was taking flomax and found he had dry ejaculation, just wanted to confirm it. I have been prescribe flomax.

The only remarkable change has been starting on Flomax, so it would be a strange coincidence to suddenly develop a urinary infection. Can Flomax have anything to do with this? He is inclined to suspend it if only on the basis of no results, but now this new turn of events is worrying him.

The urologist put me on macrobid as a prevenitive medicine to take before intercourse a few years ago. Following those instructions lessened my UTIs to no more than 4 times per year of getting UTIs (much more bearable). Then on Feb. 2nd 2010, I had what I will call an "episode".

Flomax increases the risk of 'floppy iris syndrome". Eye surgeons don't stop the flomax as has a lasting effect. Also if the person tells the surgeon then special drops are used to prevent floppy iris syndrome.

Hi and sorry about your father, I just looked up side effects and flomax and it said see a physician right away if you get fainting, so it could be the flomax and is a serious side effect. He needs to get in to see a physician right away. It can also be the blood pressure med that is making his blood pressure go too low possibly. Both things need to be checked. I'm also very sorry about your mother. This is a lot to deal with.

FWIW - my Dr said 1) stop taking flomax. I don't think he thinks highly of it 2) Don't take saw palmetto 3) that I'm a good candidate for a TURP. I'm doing a ct scan tomorrow, and next week we schedule the surgery. Yeah - the end is in sight!

In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?

I don't think it's a good drug, I have normal BP and it lowered my BP 10 points. does flomax cause exhaustion and permanent tiredness like one forum says?

I have been using finesteride instead of flomax for the last 4 month.

Unexpectedly, 2 months ago I had my first Acute Urinary Retention episode, which I think was triggered by some “ejaculatory stress”. A series of catheterization and 2 more AUR’s followed, one after the other. Twice now I have removed the catheter (at doctor’s direction) to see if I could urinate without it. Both times I failed, and had to be recath’d The third test is coming up soon.
