It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.
Please, guide me on how to deal with a Kidney Stone Episode (last one -- 10 years ago -- stone passed spontaneously)
March 7: a sudden onset of an episode of excruciating pain on right side of abdomen, accompanied by nausea and vomiting and bloody (pink) urine. Percodan + Zofran help.
March 8: The severe pain disappears and has never come back. (thought I passed the kidney stone.) Internist finds blood in my urine (not visible to the naked eye).
I have been experiencing retrograde ejaculation from taking Flomax and Uroxatral for several years. Will normal ejaculation return if I stop the medication? How long will it take?
If you can review and advise only for Flomax/Urimax instead of VELTAM,it may help me to discuss with my physician who started treatment once again after a month break.

Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is
a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
I'm not sure where you're getting the info that stent removal has all this pain attached to it. Have you had a stent before and had severe pain when it was removed? I've had a stent and there was discomfort when it was removed but not the severe pain you are indicating. There may be a burning sensation for a day or two afterwards when urinating, and even then the amount of that burning sensation differs from person to person and male to female.
1. Do not stop taking avodart. That medication and other like it such as flomax can cause "floppy iris syndrome" here's the deal even if you stop it can still happen so don't stop. The eye surgeon needs to know ahead of time you're on the medicine so special drops and techniques can be used.
2. Swimming is BAD after surgery and should be avoided. I ask my patients not to swim for 6 weeks.

This spring, I passed 3 years without having a stone, which for me is great! I used to get one or more a year. I also started taking a medication called FloMax prescribed for me by the VA Urologist and it seems to be working great, in conjunction with the bottled water. There is a generic brand for FloMax that is cheaper too. I'd sure look into getting on a daily FloMax regiment and watching what kind of water I was drinking.

We are just guessing that the way Flomax works by relaxing muscles is causing these effects. (Could the enlarged prostate end up pressing even more on muscles?? Also I was taking some over the counter medication for frequent urination problems when I took the Chlamydia and Ghonorea test, would this affect the test?

It is very difficult to know anything based on what you posted.
First, lab ranges even for the different labs in the US differ so without ranges - have no idea if you are low, high or normal.
Second - no idea if you are sick or how you are sick. The tests run are not really run for adrenal except DHEA (and that is really more of an adrogen - e.g. it converts to testosterone and estrogen) so not sure why it belongs in this forum.

Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms.
Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate.

I was diagnosed with BPH a year ago and was given Flomax. I had to go to Iceland and forgot my Flomax. My friend was taking a local product available over the counter called SAGAPRO made from a herb called Angelica.
I used it and to my suprise...it worked. It even works better than Flomax!
Do you know why this herb is so good for the prostate?

I have recently been taking flomax for kidney stones two days ago. Last night when duing sexual intimacy when I orgasimed there was no semen at all! It feels like I am just busting off a big one but there is absolutely nothing! The same thing happend tonight. Me and my girlfriend are getting kind of worried. Is this a normal side effect? And if it is how long does it normally last?... I mean its not something that can cause serious or permanent damage is it?
