flomax

187666 tn?1331173345 Hello, Most people with kidney stones will have blood in the urine .The urine may be pink or reddish, or the blood may be visible only with urine dipstick testing or microscopic examination of the urine. In people who do not pass kidney stone lithotripsy is the treatment of choice. It is indicated for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Contact your doctor if the haematuria is persisting. Persistent haematuria can lead to weakness, dizziness and hypotension.

Avatar f tn Back in july i posted about having several stones in my left kidney one of which was 8 mm and also one in that ureter and one in the right kidney. Well after over a month of flomax and massive amounts of water i had another x-ray which showed 9 stones in my left kidney the largest measuring 4 mm. Nothing in the ureters so i passed the 3 mm in the left and the one in the right it just took FOREVER lol. So I'm guessing that my 8 mm stone broke into more pieces?
Avatar m tn As per my doctors reports unfortunately the stone is in such a position (right inside the canal of the kidney) where they would have to puncture the kidney (PCNL) to reach it and remove the stone. I was hoping it would be possible to do lithotripsy and get rid of the stone by putting a stent. Also i have been told the passage of my ureter has formed some sort of minor blockage due to inflammation?! What will be the treatment for the same? Extremely confused and scared any help would be great.
Avatar n tn I can only tell you what I've been told over the years I've dealt with kidney stones. Drink plenty of water daily and make sure that your urine stays clear in color when you urinate. When you think you're drinking enough water, then drink another 8 oz glass of it. Additionally, recently I've started taking Flomax (generic version) on a daily basis.
Avatar f tn I've been having pain for 2 weeks that's been like my other kidney stones. I've had several surgerys to have them removed in the past so I know what I'm feeling. I went to my urologist today and he told me it's a 2mm stone in my kidney and shouldn't be causing pain. So why am I experiencing pain and was able to know it was a stone? Also I haven't been prescribed anything to help with it except narcotics for the pain. No flomax or anything. I don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin (Flomax) to speed the passage of stones. A person with a larger stone, or one which blocks urine flow and associated with pain, may need more urgent treatment. Consult. Early diagnosis and treatment will be helpful. This is only an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. a nephrologist for more queries and assistance . I hope it helps.

The size and location of ureter stones are the most important factors for predicting the spontaneous passage of the stone. Lithotripsy is a good option for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Consult a nephrologist for more queries and assistance. Hope it helped. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn Emerg visit this month showed (big surprise) on CT, two left kidney stones 2-3 mm, one in kidney and one between bladder and kidney. This is the first time CT has been done laying on stomach. If part of this has been kidney stones all along, why might I be getting severe abdominal bloat with these episodes? I have not passed stone yet (week 3) but put on Flomax 3 days ago and bloat seems to be reducing. Thanks for your suggestions.
Avatar m tn I had to visit the emergency room about a week ago with a stone blocking the flow of urine from my bladder. I often have stones and pass them with little difficulty, but this one got stuck, and I had to have a catheter inserted. I do not normally have a problem passing urine. The doctor started me on Flomax, but after four days I had to stop. I was dizzy, disoriented, and my vision blurred. Even walking was difficult.
Avatar m tn I have been having constant pains for three weeks now. They bounce around several locations in my abdomen including my back, bladder, stomach, and groin, mostly on the right. I had previously been having a lot of uterine bleeding related to throwing up my birth control pill due to stomach flu and a migraine. In the middle of having the cramps and pain related to that, I developed the back pain which has since spread and worsened.
Avatar n tn I went to ER 10 days ago with what I thought must be my appendix exploding! 10+ pain in right lower flank area. They managed the immediate pain w/ IV which worked very quickly. After a CT scan they determined I have a 3mm stone making it's way from my right kidney to my bladder. They sent me home with a script for Norco and Flomax and told me to get a follow up appt. with my Dr., drink plenty of fluids, and strain my urine. It was a week before my Dr.
Avatar f tn Simon, I tried a lot of the stuff I saw online. Olive Oil , Lemon Juice (like 20 fricken Lemons) nothing "shrunk" it. Your urologist will tell you if it's "passable" or not and if you have any blockage. What did help me was sleeping on the opposite side of the stone those days I felt the best when I let gravity help . Set a timer for an hour and have 8oz glass of water ready and drink it, if you feel up to it work out. Dont sit around.
Avatar f tn I also started taking a medication called FloMax prescribed for me by the VA Urologist and it seems to be working great, in conjunction with the bottled water. There is a generic brand for FloMax that is cheaper too. I'd sure look into getting on a daily FloMax regiment and watching what kind of water I was drinking. Oh yeah, as a non vegiterian, I'd also suggest a great big steak too! May not help you with the kidney stone problem but it sure will make you feel better!! LOL!
Avatar m tn Most 3mm UVJ stones pass without surgery, and Flomax and fluids are all you can do. If it has not passed, the treatment of choice would probably be ureteroscopy, an endoscopic procedure to break up and remove the stone.
Avatar f tn In addition the therapy for renal stones depends on the size, the location and the kidney functions. Please consult your primary care physician who will do blood tests, x- rays and may ask for an ultrasonogram to find out the cause for stone formation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn t do a CT scan so he ordered one and I find out I had two kidney stones a 3x2mm in my left kidney and a 5x3mm in my right kidneys. Non obstructive and still in the kidneys in the lower pole. I was told I was at risk for them getting bigger. I got prescribed hydro's and sent home. 8 days later I was in even worse pain to the point I was in tears and so nauseous I couldn't eat. The pain was now in both flanks.
Avatar f tn I have multiple stones in my left kidney the largest being 8mm (im assuming same from nov) a 3mm in the ureter and a teeny 1mm in the right kidney. The NP told me the 8mm was too large to pass so it was of no concern and didnt require treatment. She was very nice but honestly i no reql faith in her kidney stone expertise since i had to practically beg for the CT even after explaining my history. Is it possible the stone isnt a problem and can "hang out" w/o ill effects on my health?
Avatar n tn I have had half a dozen stones in the last year or so. I was able to pass all but the last one. It finally got to the point where I told the doctor I was ready for her to take it out. I am so glad I did. I would definitely do what I could to get this taken care of ASAP if I were you.
Avatar n tn I have a 7mm calcium based (I believe) stone that after 5 years has moved from the kidney to the Ureter. (CT Scan last week). I had a lot of pain a week ago and moderate to no pain since. Currently just feel a mild stomach discomfort. He put me on Flomax on the off chance it might pass on it's own. My doctor wants to go in with a scope and laser it out.
Avatar f tn Yup it is officially kidney stones. I was in the er again yesterday and they found a few stonea in my kidney that need to be blasted but they cant do it til after baby is born. Im in so much pain it is unbearable. This is way more paib than actually giving birth.
Avatar f tn This is where your hubby takes in the stone when it passes, and the Urologist sends it off to find out what it is composed of...the Dr. can also do a 24 hour urine test...It is good he is able to pass the stones on his own...I have only passed 3 on my own, the rest the Dr. has had to do surgery to go and get them out... Good luck to him...
Avatar f tn I passed a lot of small pieces but ultrasound still shows about 3mm stone in kidney. My main symptom since July 14th is the CONSTANT urge to urinate all day everyday. My urologist just kind of blows it off and says it is from small pieces still trying to pass. I just don't get it. I have no blockage or anything. Does this sound normal? The constant urge to urinate is becoming debilitating. Has anyone experienced this?
Avatar m tn Drugs like FloMax definitely help, and have helped me in the last 3 years to pass any stones I may have formed without problems but most of the rest of the remedies you hear about are "luck based" and you will still form a stone every now and then. That's my experience anyway. Good Luck.
Avatar m tn Common causes of urinary frequency include conditions such as urinary tract infections, diabetes, increased fluid consumption, urinary stones, prostate disorders, kidney disorders that affect the function of concentrating urine properly, and diseases of the urinary bladder. The most likely condition, based on your symptoms, appears to be prostatitis. It is an inflammation of the prostate gland which may be in response to infection or may be uninfective in origin.
Avatar m tn my son has gone to the doctors and gave him flomax, antibotic, pain meds the pain is in the head of the penis when he urinates.
