flomax and weight gain

Saw my primary MD today. He said that the Flomax relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate, and the Avodart shrinks the prostate. He said that after a year or so, if the prostate has gone down and reduced the problems, they like to eliminate the Flomax, as it is no longer necessary. Long story short, I now have a prescription for Avodart alone. I realize that it may not reduce the surgery risk, but one less drug is a good thing.

I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?

Every year around the time I need surgery I get a really puffy face and gain some weight. I just had surgery yesterday and the puffiness has gone down and the weight will as well. I would assume it is just water retention because your kidney is being blocked off because of the stone.

The doctors at the hospital diagnosed him with postural or orthostatic hypotension and prescribed Mitradine, Flurocortisone, and Tenormin and discontinued Flomax (which he had also been taking for quite some time as prescribed by his PCP to help him urinate), saying that the medication is what caused his hypotension.

I do smoke , I do walk almost very day at least 3 miles if not more, my weight is high side of normal. The only meds I take is for prostate problem.

I am 77 years old and have been taking Flomax for about 2 years. I have had cool thermo therapy for enlarged prostrate about 2 years ago. Unrination is really no problem anymore, but I have a problem with getting erections and now when I ejaculate I have no semon in me. I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far?

I stopped, and when the urinary issues seemed to be more problematic again, I returned to the added Flomax, and immediately discovered the same lack of semen and abdominal pain (during the 2 months not taking Flomax, ejaculatory function returned to normal). My question (after all that build up) is are any other men here on Flomax combined with Detrol LA? And, if so, has anyone had the same experiences that I previously explained?

I've heard taking Flomax and hour or 2 before will soften the prostate and allow the antibiotic to better penetrate the prostate? t seem to be a great drug since it lowers blood pressure too much, I almost fainted on losartan and flomax. Is it true it permenently exhausts you and causes muscle weakness?

I am a bisexual 60 y/o male, average weight for my height. Several years ago, I began having frequent/urgent urinations associated with enlarged prostate. My urologist prescribed Ditropan, which I took for about a year, which helped at first. Flomax was added the following year, which again worked for awhile, but the symptoms returned after 6 months or so. Food intake usually stops the pain for a while, but I cannot continue to eat six or more times a day. Weight gain is a real issue. Sometimes food makes it worse. Not often. This morning it awoke me from a dead sleep at 2:00 am, even though I had eaten prior to going to sleep at 11. My doctor has done the blood work for an ulcer and it was negative.
