Flomax and sulfa

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax and sulfa

flomax

This time about a woman on Topamax for 7 days who seemed to have lost almost all her vision 12 hours after increasing her dose per her doctor's instructions. Some quick thinking sparked me to ask if she could see up close and lo and behold while she was blind as a bat in the distance, she could see the tiniest print about 6 inches in front of her nose. She had developed an acute myopic shift from a choroidal effusion which pushed the lens/iris diaphram forward.
If that is what the flomax is for - and you take too much of the oxy...it is going to screw up your need and ability to pee.
during that first examination, there was no blood or discharge, just the constant urge to pee but not that much,i got a rectal examination.urine culture came back negative, they put me on sulfa 2X a day and tamusolin1x a day for 14days,the syptoms ceased but i felt it wasnt working.so after i finished the two weeks i went back cause it was the same deal.the doctor gaveme a 2nd rectal examination and a prostate massag(forgot to mention i already got one)and he askedme to void after the massage.
I am almost finished with that course and have sulfa ready to go if that does not work. I almost stopped taking metro and started sulfa however practitioner advised to keep taking metro even though it is not really working. I took one sulfa along with metro and symptoms kind of went away. but I am waiting to finish metro to start sulfa fully. I hate pills, antibiotics but I will take anything at this point.
I visited my doctor and urinalysis did not show any infection but given Sulfa( antibiotic) for urination frequency and a cream for yeast inflection. The red bumps/spots come and go. Just wondering what it could be....appreciate any feedback.
Under the care of my previous urologist I underwent a Cystoscopy (with hyrdodistention and bladder biopsy) and dozens of other test including an ultra sound of my kidneys and multiple prostate exams. Having gotten no closer to being better under the care of my last urologist, I have recently switched Dr.s. Ok, there is the back ground, on to the real problem at hand now.
These were perscribed in place of Flomax and Celebrex in the hopes of reducing the inflammation and opening the neck of the bladder to release the urine now being held in my bladder. Should I take these meds even though the Flomax (tamsulosin) is not approved for women? Also considering my past medical history Im scared to take either meds, should I?
I'm on Mercaptapurine/Colozol/Prednisone/fish oil for the colitis. For prostate issues I'm on Flomax and the other one that reduces enlarged prostate. Does anyone out there have any words of wisdom on what in the world could be causing these occasional and VERY painful episodes?
