Avatar m tn Had radiation for prostate cancer which worked. PSA virtually undetectable. Does Flomax interfere with Viagra?
Avatar f tn An elevated PSA is scary. Unfortunately, there is a lot of waiting and down time with it. They'll do a lot of things to get you very alarmed and then schedule something for 5 weeks later. BonzoDog, one of our other members, wrote a post a few months back that mentions some other things he might want to do and make sure he gets done - https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Prostate-Cancer/Prostate-cancer-recurrence-/show/3068149?
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was given cipro and Flomax for pelvic pain and a UTI. the pain was through the whole pelvis and also individual veins or spermatic cord. does Flomax permanently shrink your prostate or reduce testosterone levels? I read one forum where people where saying they had a permanent loss of strength, could not throw the discus as far?
Avatar n tn The pain from chronic prostatitis can be relieved by NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxen) or alpha-blockers (flomax, terazosin). Have your PSA followed regularly and have your urologist follow PSA velocity, PSA density, and free PSA.
Avatar m tn I am a 25 year old male. My symptoms are as follows: (1) Cloudy urine; (2) Frequent feeling of urgency; (3) Occasional burning on urination and ejaculation; (4) Weak urine flow. I am very frustrated, as I have seen two urologists (one for about a year) and neither have made any significant headway. First they hypothesized that I had a prostate infection and put me on all kinds of antibiotics -- to no avail.
Avatar m tn At the age of 75 these would be normal/ near normal flow rates and the post void volume and PSA levels have shown improvement over time. Though the post void volume is slightly higher than normal, it would not be considered particularly abnormal at the age of 75 years. If there are no specific symptoms such as recurrent UTI or urinary issues, I do not see a clear benefit in undergoing the surgery.
Avatar m tn I am 61 pre diabetic and have an enlarged prostate. My psa has been 1.2. I have been taking flow max for the past 3 years and had noticed a decrease in the amount of sperm but I always ejaculated. Recently I have had several dry orgasms. I have also experimented while taking flow max I have also tried taking Viagra and other times Cialas. Would taking both Flowmax and Cialas or Viagra be causing the retrograde. I didnt like it and after the sex I did not feel satisfied.
Avatar f tn Male friend having difficulty emptying bladder--had to be catheterized by urologist. Prostate and PSA apparently all right. I guess his brain is not telling him when he needs to urinate and then when he gets a chance, he's so full he cannot empty entirely. Is on Flomax but wants to know if there are some 'natural' remedies, supplements? Is it possible for the bladder to stretch or expand too much?
Avatar m tn did your doctor do a PSA blood test? this is a test to determine if the prostate is overactive and will help rule out other problems. this test was helpful for me because it help my doctor diagnose my prostate cancer before it spreaded. not intended to alarm you!
1516809 tn?1345082764 I went to a urologist who told me that my prostate because of my age is starting to enlarge like all men, and that I am retaining urine in my bladder per ultrasound. He prescribed Flomax for me to take indefinitely, and told me that the hematospermia will heal on its own and clear after a few more subsequent ejaculations. Recently, I experienced hematospermia again, red blood in the semen again.
Avatar m tn Saw my primary MD today. He said that the Flomax relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate, and the Avodart shrinks the prostate. He said that after a year or so, if the prostate has gone down and reduced the problems, they like to eliminate the Flomax, as it is no longer necessary. Long story short, I now have a prescription for Avodart alone. I realize that it may not reduce the surgery risk, but one less drug is a good thing.
Avatar m tn I saw a Urologist and he gave me flomax, but I had to stop it because I was have bad side effects from it. The flomax was before the drippy ejaculation problem started.
Avatar n tn I've taken flomax for several years, and want to undergo cataract surgery. What should I expect? This discussion is related to Cataract surgery and Flomax.
Avatar m tn feel weak and shakey and lots of pain alittle worse every day and im on cipro and flomax and uta and ibuprofen.no 24 hr. urine did have ct scan of pelvic area and psa level test but hasn't come back.thank u for your help.
Avatar m tn I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
Avatar n tn 6, then repeat after 5 week, PSA come back 3.8, at the same time did free PSA, but fPSA is very low, and up %fPSA/PSA about 11%, and this may need biopsy. But as I mention, PSA shows so much difference in such a short time. What is his means and the if PSA and fPSA really correct or accurate? If hose test results can be trust to determine the biopsy. I read about tests, and all point cPSA id better than PSA, to calculate % to determine if biopsy really needed. Specailly if PSA is under 4.
Avatar m tn Dr performed a DRE and found a nodule, followed by an ultrasound and found calcifications. Volume was 27 (so PSAD around 14%?). Free PSA around .53 (ratio around 13%?). He opted not to biopsy but said follow-up in six months. I've seen that prostatitis and BPH can raise the PSA, but haven't read anything about calcifications causing the rise. Is he expecting the PSA to level off or decline in six months? 27 doesn't seem "enlarged" to me anyway.
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar m tn Thanks I got another psa and a free psa . Results psa 3.7 and free psa 17%. Psa up again and free psa should be 25% or higher. Not good enough to say no to biopsy. Scheduled for wed. With agleason of 7 what option did you take radical, seeds, radiation or other.
Avatar n tn My husband is 50, recent PSA was 4.1 and free PSA was 12%. MD has put him on Bactrim DS BID for ten days, then will repeat PSA and do a transrectal ultrasound. My husband is convinced this is cancer. What would be the next step?
Avatar n tn i did some research and found that if i had ejaculated within 48 hours of blood test that can elevate my PSA. I dont recall but might have had sex both nights before morning test. My two questions.. What are other possible reasons for high PSA other than cancer and which are the most common? Should Doctor have talked about the other possible reason rather than leave me and my family worried about a shortened lifetime on my part?
