Other than that, ChitChat is right - eat smaller portions, several times/day, limit the simple carbs/junk food and opt for high protein, high fiber and good fats, which tend to keep you feeling fuller longer....
Avatar f tn Have either of you looked into chair yoga or a yoga for seniors? You don't have to be a senior to use them? Basically, there's a yoga for nearly every one, that will help bring back some mobility, without doing further damage. Check with your doctors.
1816210 tn?1327354884 Probably not a good idea to try to take your mother's walker......... lol If insurance, disability or Medicare won't cover one, check out a local hospice thrift store or something; they can often be found very inexpensively at such places. My neighbor got one for an elderly family member for around $5. You can do a google search for videos that will let you see what Yoga for Seniors is like. Google "Yoga for Seniors youtube".

Business woman2 Limited physical abilities make diet so much more important. You need to figure the number of calories you need/day to "stay alive", then decrease that number in order to lose weight. The calculation is based on current weight, height, age and activity level. Talk to your doctor about trying yoga. There are yoga routines for nearly every level of ability, all the way from losing big time, to chair yoga for seniors.
Avatar m tn pool is good because the warm water is soothing and i takes the weight off your tired body - until you get out - but thats the best place to do excersize - the best excersize for fibro is walking - all systems get help from this - and gentle stretching is important - slowly - i watched a yoga tape from the library for seniors and physically challenged and found one of my fav.

Avatar f tn I love Zumba too but i wouldn't starting Zuma though if you weren't doing it before your pregnancy only because it is a lot of jumping and can be intense. Yoga is a good idea. It really is a good workout and you don't bounce around or exert too much. It is amazing for strength and flexibility and burns calories too.
Avatar f tn What about yoga and increasing your flexibility? I have noticed when I stretch and do my yoga first that my back problems are much easier to deal with while working out. What about acupuncture? I did this with my second pregnancy for my migraines and morning sickness. I'm just starting to lose my pregnancy weight from my third child who was a csection 15 months ago but I had some complications that hendered my weight loss but those are getting under control now slowly and surely.
Avatar f tn I Also do squats as the shower is running before I get in to help my thighs and butt. Prenatal yoga too for flexibility. You can get a cheap DVD from Walmart.

Avatar f tn I get them occasionally... They come and go and last for a few seconds to a few minutes. Sometimes the areas just feel sore... Like I was doing a crap ton of sit ups. I do prenatal yoga though and every week for a few days after class the pains aren't as intense... I guess from all the stretching & strength & flexibility exercises. This is ny first pregnancy. I'm 18+3.

I have been doing yoga 3-5 times a week the past 1.5 months and been to a stretch therapist 5-6 times the past three weeks but the problem persists. Background: I worked out a lot - Crossfit 5-6 times a week + a little running - and wasn't great about stretching. My hip flexibility was not good and I was sore all the time.

Yoga will help you build core strength and improve your flexibility (and can really make you sweat!), whereas plyometrics is a bit higher impact, and involves taking steps, doing lunges, and even jumping around. (no knee pain during a month where I was bed ridden due to unrelated illness). 11195379 tn?1427921527 I love walking, if your side starts to hurt its probably cause your walking to fast or started walking to fast, i start out slow and just pick up pace if I'm feeling fine, when im tired i just do slow walks, try to do them every day, and be sure to breath and stay hydrated!
