Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility workouts athletes

flexibility

Avatar m tn I have both and take beta blockers. I exercise probably 5 or 6 days a week. I do cardio workouts, strength training, free weights and yoga. I don't guess I qualify as an athlete but I do pretty good workouts. At first I was terrified when my heart rate went up and I must admit that there are still times it kinda bothers me. But I'm trying really hard not to let this control my life.
Avatar f tn Its hard for me to do crunches because I have sciatica and it gives me bad back pain. Anyone know of some workouts that could be helpful for my situation?
Avatar f tn m moderately active working out 3-4 days a week - mix of circuit training and jogging. Are these workouts sufficient to keep resting heart rate down?? Should I consult cardiologist for slow heart rate??
Avatar f tn have gone to physical therapy and have regained all my flexibility and have no acute pain anymore. My frustration is still not being able to run. I get almost immediate hamstring area tightness and have burning sensation and discomfort in my ankle/foot area also. the physical therapist thinks it is a compensatory reaction because I am flexing my foot too much to try and bring that weaker leg thru when running.
Avatar m tn The treatment for the enlarged heart walls can be medication the reduces the force of contractility and help increase the flexibility of the walls. If medication is not successful there is surgery that that can remove the excessive mass. There can be heart muscle damage do to excessive drinking of alcohol, drugs, some medication, virus, bacteria, etc.
Avatar m tn I have asked my cardiologist this same question and was told that pushing your heart above it's maximum predicted heart rate for long periods can damage the heart. Also, there is not benefit to your health by exercising at this rate, the most good is done between 75 85% of your max predicted heart rate. I asked for the same reason, keeping my heart rate at that level got to the point that it did not seem like much of a workout.
1007653 tn?1259385967 The reason is that, for one, huge muscles inhibit flexibility, and flexibility is much more important to human survival and reflex movement than huge muscles, and, second, muscle requires too much nutrition, which makes survival harder. So if you want muscles that go beyond what your genetics will allow, you have to cheat one way or the other, including eating too much protein or taking substances not meant to be taken such as creatine or steroids.
349463 tn?1333571576 Does anyone know if high calorie workouts are bad while ttc? I'm wondering if I should cut back while ttc. Any feedback is appreciated!
Avatar n tn Probably not, only very highly conditioned, world class athletes have LVH due to exercise. You have a very active lifestyle, but the kind of athletes with exercise induced LVH usually perform much higher on the Bruce Protocol, making it to atleast stage six and over 15 mets. Your work out is very good, but not really excessively intense. Much depends on the mets you achieve during your work out along with you heart rate.
Avatar m tn s always worth seeing a Doctor. Even athletes can have problems. I assume you do a warm down at the end of your exercises? and don't just stop and sit down.
Avatar n tn s one of the benefits of regular exercise, it actually can diminish hunger. People differ in what they need to do to exercise -- if you watch pro athletes interviewed about their eating habits pre-game and post-game, you'll find very different needs . Humans differ.
Avatar n tn Hi there. I'm 34, a few extra pounds, and I've really been working out to improve my health and hopefully lose some weight. I'm using primarily an incline trainer (treadmill with higher incline capability) and had a question about heart rate. I know the most common formula for max heart rate (MHR) is 220-34(age)=186 bpm. I try to target my HR between 93 (50% max) and 158 (85% max).
Avatar f tn Yes as you may know C section may play a bigger role than you think since some of the muscles need to get stretched to accommodate the baby. As you may know Yoga workouts and core workouts are important but you need to activate specify muscles around your waist. Those muscles are named the oblique muscles. The muscles need to be strong, activated so when you start dropping body fat you will see how your waist drops significantly.
1697806 tn?1339083319 Your reps should be between six and 12 per set for the most muscle growth, and your workouts should never last much longer than 45 minutes. use heavier weights and move through each rep at a controlled speed. Your sets should last between 40 and 70 seconds any less, and you're not tensing your muscles long enough to shock them into growth.
Avatar f tn Exercise often, and follow a varied plan that includes strength training. Use the workouts that make use of flexibility and stretching, strength training and aerobics for the best results. Fitting in regular sessions of weightlifting, calisthenics or other strength activities can help increase muscle mass and keep the body toned and strong.
Avatar f tn A vigorous workout makes you sweat, and your body gets dehydrated if you do not replenish the lost fluid during and after your exercise session. People performing lengthy workouts and endurance athletes are at particularly high risk because dehydration chances increase with lengthy workouts. Nausea is one of the signs of dehydration, so you may feel like throwing up if you lost too much water and did not drink enough to replace it while working out.
Avatar m tn ve tried the antifungal stuff for athletes foot/jock itch and the red/brown discoloration remains. I did have a straddle injury but i don't think that is the problem b/c there is no pain, and that happened 9 months ago. Maybe it's from trimming my balls w/ the electric shaver?? Can someone help me out?
Avatar n tn The question I have is, would it be ok to go back to my normal workout routine (Crossfit, i.e. high intensity aerobic workouts) or will I possibly wreck my lungs? How long should i wait? Anyone else had this issue? The strange thing is my symptoms were SO mild but my chest is still experiencing tightness 1 month later (after my 2nd infection). Welcome any comments from those who may had a similar experience.
Avatar f tn I worked out 4-56 times a week and now I can barely get 3 workouts in. I even made a schedule for a specific pregnancy workout I found on pinterest and walking and elliptical. We just have to listen to our bodies I guess! I felt Bette when I went to the doctor today because they told me to work out 3 maybe 4 days a week and only for a maximum 20 min..
Avatar n tn What do you ladies do for workouts while pregnant? Any schedules or specifics you follow? Any good advice? Im really trying to keep my body in shape.
