Avatar n tn And look to your flexibility -- huge muscles are nice for those who like them, but they can interfere with movement. Train to be fit, not to be huge, if you want to be healthy.

Avatar f tn t get swollen joints or rashes like with most cases of Rheumatoid Arthritis. My spine specialist thinks it is because of my flexibility and told me to do 4-5x/week of strength training. Other than that, he says he can't do anything else at this point and he isn't recommending I see a Rheumatologist yet. I have been seeing this doctor for probably 6-8 months. My joints just hurt so bad and the pain travels between all of them and I don't know what to do at this point.
Avatar f tn Use the workouts that make use of flexibility and stretching, strength training and aerobics for the best results. Fitting in regular sessions of weightlifting, calisthenics or other strength activities can help increase muscle mass and keep the body toned and strong. Aerobics will help with burning calories, endurance and weight management, and stretching helps prevent injuries and prepare the body for more intense movements.
Avatar n tn d be sent to physical or occupational therapy to work on it, which is where you go to learn from people with actual training what exercises might help. But without a diagnosis, that's hard to do, as you wouldn't know what is causing the wrist to hurt in the first place. The easiest thing to try is to stop doing those push-ups, and rest, elevate, and ice the wrist and see if in a couple of weeks it isn't better.
Avatar m tn s getting to the point that I literally cannot miss a single training session. If I do the pain starts coming. It then only starts to go away after two or three training sessions. More info about the pain: It hurts when I look down, and it restricts my flexibility (it hurts to much to touch my toes). When it hurts I constantly move around because it relieves the pain (kind of like when you have to urinate) The pain feels almost like the growth pains that I use to get in my legs as a child.
Avatar f tn I continued to exercise because the pain went away after I warmed up. (I am 29 and exercise routinely with HIIT and strength training.). I have never had hip pain before, but I have had aches like this that have improved with rest and gradual return to my exercise routine. I exercised fine for about two weeks with that dull, intermittent pain in my hip. But for about a month now, my hip pain has become very severe. I have been unable to exercise or do much stretching at all.
Avatar f tn These all help with inflammation. Vitamin C also helps with cross linking of collagen fibers if the connective tissue holding the tibealis anterior(the muscle on the front of your shin)to the periosteum are disconnecting a bit. The massage (as much as you can handle) is probably a good thing. Switching to a low/no impact exercise such as swimming, elliptical or ski machine might be a good option, (swimming would probably be the best if available). Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Strength exercises involve working the muscle against resistance. This can be either with or without weights. Resistance training strengthens the muscle and increases the amount of activity you can do pain-free. Conditioning exercise, also called aerobic exercise, improves cardiovascular fitness. There are countless benefits to aerobic exercise! Among them, it makes your heart and blood vessels healthier, prevents disability, and improves mood and well-being.

Hitting each muscle group with roughly the same volume (such as five sets of rows after five sets of bench presses) will ensure balanced training, allowing you to grow quickly and safely, avoiding injuries and preserving flexibility. DRINK SHAKES Surround your workout with nutrition, starting with a high protein- and-carbohydrate meal about an hour beforehand.
Avatar f tn My son had trouble with toilet training in a similar way. He would sit on the toilet for an hour and not be able to "go". This problem worsened during the school year, both because he did not like to use the school bathrooms, and because if he had to go at an "inappropriate" time, the teachers would not allow it, insisting that the 20 minute recess and the 40 minute lunch break were adequate opportunities. This contributed to a severe constipation problem.
Avatar n tn I have been to the doctors twice last week and I have another appointment on Monday to talk about getting a pump...I have been offered 2 pumps the Animas 2020 or the Paradigm with real-time glucose checks...I was skeptical about the pump but as I read on this forum and others they seem to only have good comments. Has anyone used either of the pumps I can choose from?
Avatar f tn s administration are providing his Republican challenger Mitt Romney with material for a new round of attacks, including a television ad released Tuesday. Avatar f tn You need to burn 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound, so with three one-hour Zumba sessions a week, you should lose at least 1 pound in a little over two weeks or almost 2 pounds a month. If you dance Zumba for one hour a day and eat 500 calories a day less than you need to maintain your weight, you should lose 2 pounds weekly or 8 pounds a month. This is a fast, but healthy rate of weight loss. Losing weight any faster means you're losing muscle instead of fat.
20911706 tn?1629515701 Purpose and Exercises Calisthenics is a form of strength training that uses body weight to improve endurance, flexibility, coordination, and strength. Calisthenics comes with a range of exercises with different intensity. This type of training suits beginners the best and can be easily modified for advanced workouts. With all the variety of trendy fitness forms such as Tabata, fly yoga, Zumba, Crossfit, and so on, calisthenics seems an old-school term that is long forgotten.
Avatar f tn Hi there and thanks so much for your question! Did you know that strength training can add few inches to your height? Regarding to that specific question I wish I had a clear answer to your question. Unfortunately there are many factors associated to our height. The rate of growth in females varies from female to female. Some females don't stop growing until they are 14, and for some females it is even older.
Avatar f tn This may be a crazy question, but I'm trying to figure out my summer and chemo! Is there 'wiggle' room with the chemo treatments? or do you have to go on the same day every three weeks? My six weeks is almost up and I need to get started and want to do it on Fridays so that I'll have the week-end to recover, but 4th of July falls on the Friday that I would get my second treatment and I'm assuming that they don't do chemo on that day. Thanks for any info.
Avatar m tn Usually the main predictors of aortic dissection are family history, aortic size, and aortic flexibility. For someone of your aortic size, I would take it easy. Try the ARB approach with a max or ultra-max high dosage (as long as your doctor lets you) and see if that reduces aortic size and aortic flexibility (the "pulse pressure" is one way to estimate the flexibility - Google it). If so, then perhaps you can talk to your doctor about athletics.
