Avatar m tn Good day! I have been experiencing tennis elbow (tendonitis) in my right elbow for the last 6 months. It's due to weight training and heavy lifting. I've cut back on the weight but still have soreness (though not as bad.) I've tried ice a few times each day, a brace when I exercise and Advil yet I still have it. My health insurance plan at work ***** and I don't want to go see a doctor as I don't have the money. Any suggestions? Thanx!!!
Avatar n tn I was wondering, is there any reason in particular why you play tennis every day (are you an athlete/tennis pro/instructor)? I am confident that the powerful/explosive movements required while playing tennis are responsible for the "buffness" or the increase in muscle mass, especially since you aren't doing any other type of resistance/strength training. Would it be possible for you to take a day or two off from tennis (so that you would be playing only 5 to 6 times per week)?
Avatar n tn I just got into weight training but I dint know how to eat right. Can someone please guide me and show me a plan for teens or something.HELP.
Avatar n tn t have any foot problems or anything, but as a baby and toddler, my sister was fanatical about him not wearing shoes, over concern for his feet developing properly, and attaining correct balance and flexibility, etc. She showed me several articles by different pediatric orthopedists. The articles made a strong point, and convinced me she was doing right, but that was back when he was 2 ½ years old.
Avatar n tn When you are training, your body needs fuel and nutrition to be able to get you through the workout and rebuild muscle tissue during your resting period. If you are not receiving the proper nutrition, you will likely be fatigued, fall short of your workout goals and lose weight. learn the proper foods to eat to gain weight before training, so your body will have the available nutrients for a good training program.
730826 tn?1317943334 Well my friend is a military wife also so we decided we needed to do PT like our husbands. They do PT twice a day for about an hour. Sometimes its running and sometimes its volleyball or tennis or something physical. This morning Ray and I ran for about half an hour mixed with walking half hour. She said she was going back to bed so I came home and went for a half hour run/walk combination with my pooch.
Avatar f tn The (untreated) anterior artery is 100% blocked, but its portion of my heart seems to be functioning pretty well from collateral supply. I play 3-4 sessions of tennis a week and three 45 min sessions on treadmill, interspersed with floor exercises and hand weights. My cardiologist is very against tennis (I play mainly doubles). He had suggested I take a nitro immediately before each tennis session.
20893158 tn?1579358911 s wise to alternate activities at least some, and getting some resistance training in as well and flexibility training can at least potentially reduce the costs of running. Peace.
987762 tn?1671273328 Hi Guys and Dolls, After almost 2 years of on and off looking for a companian puppy, dh unexpectantly asked if we could detour to the pet store in the centre. He heard they had 5 labradore x golden retriever pupps, look all puppies are cute to me lol Anyway, it took me all of 3 minutes before i'm asking the owner to bring out one particular pup, it may sound daft but the little guy just felt like my kind of people, if you know what i mean.

Avatar m tn I now work out almost everyday playing tennis, weight training, swimming and riding a stationary bike. I captain two tennis teams and play almost every day. After seven pain free years, after a tennis lesson that involved constant running on an outdoor court and turning and twisting, I have not been able to get rid of constant pain inside my other knee. I tried megadoses of ibuprofen which did help but which I don't want to take daily, resting it, not resting it and it continues.
Avatar m tn I injured myself 2 months ago during training and I suffer from sever pain in my chest muscle, tricep, and lat. all of the mentioned muscles are on the left side of body. Avatar f tn I recently hurt my knee playing tennis. I'm attempting to lose weight but i can't do any cardio that is too taxing on my knee; is there any exercises that have high fat burning principals other than swimming? (I dont have the avilability of swimming where i live).
233382 tn?1193658141 Hi, My son is Type I. He's 14. For the past 8-9 days he's switched from the needle to the Pen system. Doctors are trying to figure out his ratio. He's also very active, training for speedskating - summer is dryland speedskating training. Lately, he's been complaining about sore knees but most importantly at times about having no control of his knees when he walks. Today, we were walking together and I could witness it for the first time. He was walking funny and almost stumbling.
Avatar f tn Use the workouts that make use of flexibility and stretching, strength training and aerobics for the best results. Fitting in regular sessions of weightlifting, calisthenics or other strength activities can help increase muscle mass and keep the body toned and strong. Aerobics will help with burning calories, endurance and weight management, and stretching helps prevent injuries and prepare the body for more intense movements.
Avatar n tn That's the interesting thing about this current interval training fad. It seems to be a big seller for people who don't want to work out very long but get the same results. My wife has started doing it, but I had to caution her to go more slowly -- she's had achilles tendon problems recently but started running for her interval training.
Avatar m tn I’m 49 years old and have been training since I was 10. From running to playing tennis, soccer , basketball etc. I also weightlift . When I was 25 I started doing sets of jump ropes that would last 45 minutes long and immediately after would lift weights. That’s when it happened first time. I got this heavy head. I can’t call it a headache it was more of a head pressure that would spread from left side of my head to the right .
2082101 tn?1419965061 Include aerobic exercises such as running, swimming, cycling, tennis into your week which increases your energy expenditure and makes managing your shape easier. Indulge in interval training which is short bouts of high intensity training, alternating bursts of intense exercises with intervals of light activity. This will help you burn more calories. Resistance exercises may help. Consider taking professional opinion if these do not work. Do write to me again. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn I'm only at the first trimester and I'm wondering if training two nights a week and a game of sport over the weekend is too much fitness?
Avatar n tn s a combination of strength training to build your muscles, and decreasing body fat through calories. The best upper-body exercise that uses most of the muscles in your entire arm is the overhead shoulder press, Called the Arnold press. Do the Arnold presses twice a week as part of your upper-body routine to strengthen and tone your arms. Exercise all three areas of your shoulders to build the right size and shape.
Avatar m tn s getting to the point that I literally cannot miss a single training session. If I do the pain starts coming. It then only starts to go away after two or three training sessions. More info about the pain: It hurts when I look down, and it restricts my flexibility (it hurts to much to touch my toes). When it hurts I constantly move around because it relieves the pain (kind of like when you have to urinate) The pain feels almost like the growth pains that I use to get in my legs as a child.
Avatar f tn The average games like Tennis and the like Dance on broadway game and Wii fit help SO much... Trust me. It tones and on the Wii Fit you can set targets like you wanna lose this much in like 3 weeks. And if you puut in the time and effort you will do it. And ts also a fun way of doing it and you and your partner can play, Like play eachother with a game of tennis or baseball. And take it in turns on the hulahoop game on Wii fit see who can get the most. So you're more having fun...
Avatar m tn The last 4 years I was doing a lot of cycling and playing tennis too. However the doctor told me to try and stop these and only do some swimming and light walking. I am feeling that I cannot do much now and I want an opinion from an expert. I started going to gym , which has also a pool, thus I go one hour for weight training and one hour to the pool. However is cycling ok for what I have? Or can I still do? Of course as i understand i have to stop soccer and tennis...
Avatar f tn Finally, using good shoes (ideally compensating for individual foot differences) is important. The shin can be trained for greater static and dynamic flexibility through adaptation, which will diminish the contracting reflex, and allow the muscles to handle the rapid stretch. The key to this is to stretch the shins regularly. However, static stretching might not be enough. To adapt a muscle to rapid, eccentric contraction, it has to acquire greater dynamic flexibility as well.
Avatar f tn (I am 29 and exercise routinely with HIIT and strength training.). I have never had hip pain before, but I have had aches like this that have improved with rest and gradual return to my exercise routine. I exercised fine for about two weeks with that dull, intermittent pain in my hip. But for about a month now, my hip pain has become very severe. I have been unable to exercise or do much stretching at all. I even bought a cane to help me hobble around!
Avatar n tn They consist of stretching and holding different joint and muscle groups for 10 to 30 seconds each. Stretching improves flexibility, and daily stretching is the basis for any exercise program. Strength exercises involve working the muscle against resistance. This can be either with or without weights. Resistance training strengthens the muscle and increases the amount of activity you can do pain-free. Conditioning exercise, also called aerobic exercise, improves cardiovascular fitness.
