Avatar f tn It really hinders my ability to increase my fitness level by walking or running. When I look in the mirror I see that my legs (below the knee) are slightly bowed. I often wonder if that might be the reason and if so is there anything I can do to overcome that problem? I would love to know how to overcome this.
Avatar f tn I was training for a half marathon when I found out I was pregnant about a month ago. I gave up all training because the first few weeks I had major fatigue and cramps. Now I am feeling better and the race is Saturday. I was debating on jog/walking it. I've been reading mixed opinions on running that distance during the first trimester. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I just got into weight training but I dint know how to eat right. Can someone please guide me and show me a plan for teens or something.HELP.
Avatar f tn I used to think running meant running forever and at a fast rate like a speed racer. But as long as your heart is pumping, and you don't over-exert your limits, running slower at a longer distance is always your best bet! It burns more calories!
Avatar n tn I am easing back into execise and would like to eventually run some 5ks. would this training likely help the pvc problem or make it worse. also about 4 yrs ago I had an episode of a-fib. also would this possible bring on afib again. I have had all the cardio tests done several time and all is normal.
Avatar n tn m not a marathon runner but I do enjoy running n ran on a daily bases b4 the pregnancy. I also kept on running after pregnancy I ran 3 miles 4 times a week till 25 weeks with this pregnancy. . I went to bike riding because my husband kept insisting that he felt more comfortable that I use a bike instead of running. He thought something might happen. So I did for him but my last pregnancy I ran til eight months. I'm still weight training.. N I feel awesome.
Avatar f tn What food is beneficial after running? I am losing weight. After running, when can I eat? Thank you!
Avatar m tn I am a 28 yr. old male. I am overweight at 270 lbs. I am working out with a trainer 2x a week, and I go running in between training sessions. I haven't run in the past couple of weeks, but trained very hard, and my average training heart rate for the hour I work out is around 138-143ish. I've reduced my body fat from 31% to 25% in a little less than a month. Today, I got on the treadclimber for the first time in about 4 weeks. I went over, got on the treadclimber.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I just started running outdoors and indoors to train for a half marathon next year. I love it! But I seem to have gained weight and I don't know why. My legs are definitely more muscular and very firm, but I don't know HOW much weight that could possibly be. I am usually around 141-142 lbs with proper diet and exercise, and now I can't get below 147. What's the deal? I don't know if I'm really eating THAT much differently since I've been running.
Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar f tn Is it true as your profile states you're 16? Here's the thing about running -- it's really enjoyable, you get to be outside instead of locked up in a smelly noisy gym, you get to look at flowers and trees. But every physical activity can cause injury and soreness, and everyone has a different natural ability to do that activity and so your level won't be the same necessarily as someone else.
Avatar f tn i am also a runner and have been running since 77. i am in love with the feeling of running and don t know any other way to get to that "place" BUT i agree with moose on this one every line that he wrote. if i were you i would get my levels in the best place and start looking forward to next year. i ran endurance for many years and now i am very happy running just a few miles with lifting and yoga. many times i ran too far and too long and didn t pay attention to feeling bad.

Avatar f tn I am trying to train for a 5K which I used to do 6 years ago before effexor. I find myself having more bad training sessions than good. I have been experiencing dizziness with a heavinress or tightness in the chest. Pulse is normally low in the 50s but does manage to get into the low 60s with training. Blood pressure remains unchanged. No arm or jaw pain, but I really feel like I can not catch enough oxygen and I may pass out.
Avatar m tn I am a distance runner that had a left side inguinal surgery last April. After a two month recovery, I started running again. I've never really run correctly in the past year. Working with a chiropractor, I got a hip flexor malady adjusted; the PT said I needed to work on flexibility. My left leg kind of 'hangs/float' and doesn't extend out normally. I feel it even when I'm walking. The odd part is that I can't really self-correct it with mental striving.
Avatar n tn Cardiovascular conditioning can be maintained by stationary bicycling, pool running, or swimming (flutter kick). Reviewing any changes in training prior to chondromalacia patella pain, as well as examining running shoes for proper biomechanical fit are critical to avoid repeating the painful cycle. Generally, full squat exercises with weights are avoided. Occasionally, bracing with patellar centering devices are required.
Avatar n tn Having obvious joint laxity while pregnant can cause weight training to be difficult but strong muscles can only benefit you with the softening, by holding things together. I've only read positive things about weight training but I'm sorta nervous about how clumsy I can be. I haven't seen anything about round ligament pain connected to a specific excessive but after a week of running for me I can feel soreness there. Sorry if I didn't help much.

Avatar n tn When I got to the gym part of my workout routine includes running for 1 hour on the treadmill.I read in Men's Health magazine that doing intervals (for example:run at 6mph for 2 minutes then run at 3mph or rest for 2 minutes) will be more effective in losing weight than if I ran or walked at a steady pace.Is there any truth to this>?
