1697806 tn?1339083319 Powders and pills won't produce muscles!! Do no more than 20 sets per muscle group closer to 12 is even better. Your reps should be between six and 12 per set for the most muscle growth, and your workouts should never last much longer than 45 minutes. use heavier weights and move through each rep at a controlled speed. Your sets should last between 40 and 70 seconds any less, and you're not tensing your muscles long enough to shock them into growth.
Avatar n tn There is no special diet needed for weight training, especially for a teenager. The special diets, which are high on protein, are for people who want to get very large muscles, but that's different from weight training. Those diets are also unhealthy, as too much protein strains the kidneys and the supplements and shakes and all that contain a lot of harmful ingredients and produce a dietary imbalance.
Avatar n tn nooo weight lifting stunting growth is not true at all. It actually makes your muscles and bones stronger and healthier. But still, you need to be careful getting into strength training, you need to educate yourself about it. Some people can injure themselves doing it wrong (they only lift weights on their arms and it can be dangerous and almost crippling to their lower body). It is important to strengthen all over your body, not just one place.
Avatar m tn Also, not exercising causes your muscles, including your heart, to become deconditioned. Muscles that are not well conditioned do not work well and require extra effort to perform including your heart which can lead to heart disease. 30 mins of moderate exercise most days of the week is normally sufficient to help promote cardiac health.
Avatar f tn Finally, using good shoes (ideally compensating for individual foot differences) is important. The shin can be trained for greater static and dynamic flexibility through adaptation, which will diminish the contracting reflex, and allow the muscles to handle the rapid stretch. The key to this is to stretch the shins regularly. However, static stretching might not be enough. To adapt a muscle to rapid, eccentric contraction, it has to acquire greater dynamic flexibility as well.
Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar m tn Ok so I think I may have ehlers Danlos. Selma perhaps you could give me some insight. 2 of my 3 daughters are hypermobile. I am not very but my wife is (although I show signs of eds). I have had Eds symptoms for over 12 years which I investigated neurologically instead of from a rheumatology. So all my tests always came back normal. I had an LP in 2008 which led to a spinal headache that would not go away for about 4 months. Possibly due to Eds lack of healing.
Avatar f tn (I am 29 and exercise routinely with HIIT and strength training.). I have never had hip pain before, but I have had aches like this that have improved with rest and gradual return to my exercise routine. I exercised fine for about two weeks with that dull, intermittent pain in my hip. But for about a month now, my hip pain has become very severe. I have been unable to exercise or do much stretching at all. I even bought a cane to help me hobble around!
Avatar f tn Stretching isn't the best way to improve flexibility—lifting weights through a full range of motion is, according to a recent study at the University of North Dakota. Pausing for 2 to 3 seconds at the "down" position of the lift (where you feel the stretch) without relaxing your muscles is even more effective.
Avatar m tn My daughter came homefrom nursey about 4 weeks ago with a cold, after i caught it, ( suffering for 3-4 days with loads of catarh in morning totally blocking me up, constantly blowing my nose and bringing it up of my chest it seemed to clear,) since then i have noticed i get out of bretah more than usual, during exersice my muscles feel like they do normally, just my breathing.
Avatar m tn As you become better conditioned, there is a better demand/supply oxygenation match for your muscles including your heart. Your heart and muscles use oxygen more efficiently as you become better conditioned In the absence of chest pain and the fact that your heart rate returned to a normal range with rest, suggests nothing out of the norm. I would consider some interval training as part of your workout.
Avatar n tn So as far as I now, the more muscle you have, the harder it is to lose the fat, and that's kind of my problem now. As a kid, when I started to take my training seriously, I didn't really lose my fat first. A few years later and I'm pretty muscular (I actually want to lose that, too...), it's really hard for me to lose weight. What kind of exercise should I be doing (that will go along with a diet) that I'll be able to lose weight more effectively?
Avatar m tn If you can understand that with increasing age the flexibility decreases and you can regain that with much practice and concentration. You need to strengthen your feet with proper exercise and control over a period of time, we are sure you can do better than what you are doing now and under a good trainer. Take care!
Avatar f tn Then he had me do a couple sets of lunges, again it was hard but not overly painful. A couple minutes afterwards, though, my thigh muscles cramped up like crazy. My legs also felt super weird going down a flight of stairs (kind of felt like my thigh muscles didn't even exist). Today, the next day, I'm in a LOT of pain when I go down stairs or go to sit down. Is this a normal muscular response to this?
1007653 tn?1259385967 The reason is that, for one, huge muscles inhibit flexibility, and flexibility is much more important to human survival and reflex movement than huge muscles, and, second, muscle requires too much nutrition, which makes survival harder. So if you want muscles that go beyond what your genetics will allow, you have to cheat one way or the other, including eating too much protein or taking substances not meant to be taken such as creatine or steroids.
4724796 tn?1361061158 Cardio, and stregth training , sqwats, weights , lunges type stuff. I lost my muscles want them back lol. Just dont wantbto hurt baby.
Avatar n tn Toes lose sensation, have wierd sensations spasms in toes, bottom of foot, ankle and legs. The uncomfortableness of it really makes it hard to sleep. I do also get spasms in my buttocks, back and face and neck as well.
20893158 tn?1579358911 s wise to alternate activities at least some, and getting some resistance training in as well and flexibility training can at least potentially reduce the costs of running. Peace.
Avatar f tn To stretch or foam roll begin with warm muscles. Stretch all the muscles that work at your various joints, not just the ones that feel tight. An example, if you stretch your hamstrings, make sure to also stretch your quadriceps and gluteal muscles, and your inner and outer thighs. Stretching is most effective when you hold your muscle at its longest length for 15 seconds to one minute or longer. Relax into your stretch, and do not bounce.
192055 tn?1263555537 t want to use bolts since it would make it a fixed joint (there is suppose to be a little play) so I would lose some flexibility. Well my doc now said that he thinks that my neck muscle could be too tight which is causing my pain that I am having. I go back to the doctor tomorrow to see if I need a second surgery. If I do need one, I would not mind bolts, I already lost some flexibility and it won't strain any muscles. Has anyone had any surgeries like this? Should I do the second surgery?
Avatar f tn ve never experienced scrotum pain, but I have had pain around the buttocks. There are muscles there and they can be tight and can be weak. Tight muscles or inflammation in the area can pinch on nerves that run through that area as well. The periformis muscle can cause the rectal issues, as a form of sciatica, though that would usually run down the outside of the affected buttock and down the leg. Hip problems can be felt in the groin area.
Avatar f tn Thanks for post. It’s really informative stuff. I really like to read.Hope to learn a lot and have a nice experience here! my best regards guys! ----------------------- weight training--weight training [URL="http://www.trainwithmeonline.
Avatar n tn Lift as much weight as you can (ALWAYS tighten your abs when lifting and engage your pelvic floor -the muscles you use to stop the peeing- to protect your low back). You can do fewer reps, but with more weight and stop only when you can't take anymore. Rest about 30 sec and do a few more-- even just 2 at maximum weight. Rest than do even just one more. By now (if you are using enough weight) your muscle should be screaming. Eat protein within 1/2 hour of lifting.
Avatar f tn It also has to do with the flexibility of your stomach muscles and ligaments, body structure and how active you stay. Some women don't start showing well into 20 almost 30 weeks.
