Avatar f tn Back when I lived in Maryland, my whole life revolved around lacrosse. I became a runner to stay in shape for lacrosse and started running races and training for a half marathon. That was the best thing that happened to me; it kept me close to my dad that had the same passion but lived 3,000 miles away. Now that I've moved to Colorado, this being my parent's idea, I can't accomplish the same dreams.
Avatar n tn I just got into weight training but I dint know how to eat right. Can someone please guide me and show me a plan for teens or something.HELP.
1387575 tn?1279684381 Its a little lengthy so bare with me. First off, I am a very active person. Before the injury I weight lifted on a regular basis, played lacrosse throughout high school (i just finished my freshman year in college), and I frequently took trips to the rock gym and various outdoor rocks for climbing. In January I started the Crossfit fitness program (www.crossfit.com). This program combined strength training, agility work, running, gymnastic, olympic lifting, balance, mobility, and flexibility.

Avatar m tn My husband mentioned this and then today after cutting the grass it happened again. He said it is excruciating. Like most of the others he played contact sports, Lacrosse in his case, most of his life. Lifted weights for many years but has not in a while and is carrying extra weight in the mid section. Thank you all for posting I am going to get him to see a dr ASAP. Just an fyi- he also has a low testosterone count which is common for men who have had head injuries.

Avatar m tn I'm a college athlete (I play both varsity soccer and lacrosse) so we have lifting/running programs for the offseason. I've been lifting for a while now and I've noticed that my left pec is larger than my right. The left one is about the size I want it to be, maybe a bit smaller, but my right one really needs to grow. I'm wondering how I could fix this problem.
Avatar m tn I also use to have high blood pressure and I might still do. I am active though with football training, lacrosse, and some sailing. I have chest pains at random times during the day it feels more to than the center then to the left or right. I want to know whats causing this and how to get rid of this and ways of prevention too.
Avatar f tn Use the workouts that make use of flexibility and stretching, strength training and aerobics for the best results. Fitting in regular sessions of weightlifting, calisthenics or other strength activities can help increase muscle mass and keep the body toned and strong. Aerobics will help with burning calories, endurance and weight management, and stretching helps prevent injuries and prepare the body for more intense movements.
Avatar f tn It rained .. but we went to a lacrosse game. I also cleaned out my closet of old clothing that will never fit .. and I donated a few bags! And, of course, did some sneezing from the dust!
Avatar f tn I love watching Lacrosse - not on TV but live. And for myself I love archery, kick-boxing and skating. Speed skating is the next thing I want to learn.
Avatar f tn History-Last march I injured my right knee playing lacrosse, I am 13 years old.I was sprinting and pivoted on my knee and heard and felt a pop. There was some swelling after the initial injury. I saw an orthopedic surgeon and was told it was either a possible tear in my acl, strain, or cartilage damage. The MRI came back negative. I decided to just play through the pain because it wasnt unbearable and the season was almost over. I went to lacrosse camp and it really started bothering me.
Avatar m tn s getting to the point that I literally cannot miss a single training session. If I do the pain starts coming. It then only starts to go away after two or three training sessions. More info about the pain: It hurts when I look down, and it restricts my flexibility (it hurts to much to touch my toes). When it hurts I constantly move around because it relieves the pain (kind of like when you have to urinate) The pain feels almost like the growth pains that I use to get in my legs as a child.
Avatar f tn Finally, using good shoes (ideally compensating for individual foot differences) is important. The shin can be trained for greater static and dynamic flexibility through adaptation, which will diminish the contracting reflex, and allow the muscles to handle the rapid stretch. The key to this is to stretch the shins regularly. However, static stretching might not be enough. To adapt a muscle to rapid, eccentric contraction, it has to acquire greater dynamic flexibility as well.
Avatar f tn (I am 29 and exercise routinely with HIIT and strength training.). I have never had hip pain before, but I have had aches like this that have improved with rest and gradual return to my exercise routine. I exercised fine for about two weeks with that dull, intermittent pain in my hip. But for about a month now, my hip pain has become very severe. I have been unable to exercise or do much stretching at all. I even bought a cane to help me hobble around!
Avatar n tn They consist of stretching and holding different joint and muscle groups for 10 to 30 seconds each. Stretching improves flexibility, and daily stretching is the basis for any exercise program. Strength exercises involve working the muscle against resistance. This can be either with or without weights. Resistance training strengthens the muscle and increases the amount of activity you can do pain-free. Conditioning exercise, also called aerobic exercise, improves cardiovascular fitness.

Avatar m tn constant headaches, more extreme when she plays lacrosse and does her gymnastics. She is very athletic and is going to be very sad if she needs to stop all of her sports.
Avatar f tn I right with my right and I thought maybe this has started happening because of me taking the season off from lacrosse but at this point i just need to know whats going to happen.
Avatar n tn My son is 23 years old. He is an accomplished athlete who played soccer, lacrosse and football at the collegiate level (kicker). He stopped running the 800 in high school after having a bout of PACs. His heart occasionally goes out of normal rythym which he assumes are more PACs. He recently graduated from college and stopped daily training in May. He is currently working long hours often including weekends.
Avatar n tn after a celebratory win a few weeks ago, my lacrosse team and I got into the highschool (not ours) pool and swam around yada yada... Anyways I found a speedo in the waterpolo bin and wore it for maybe 25 minutes. In and out of the water. About two weeks after the incident i realized some red bumps above my penis where the elastic waistband would be. I immediately freaked and looked online, I read that first outbreak comes with a strong stomach ache, which came the next day.
Avatar m tn My son experiences burning feet, like thier on fire and when he plays Lacrosse he is miserable and it dominates his mind. We went to all the specialists and they perscribed him gabapentin and it doesn't work and they say that he should up the dose, but it makes him tired especially at school. We are at our wits end and need advice on what might work. Thanks in advance.
