Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility training basketball

flexibility

Avatar f tn Running and other strenuous lower limb activities, like basketball and other sports which include flexing the muscle, should be avoided until the pain subsides and is no longer elicited by activity. In conjunction with rest, anti-inflammatory treatments such as icing and drugs, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (in particular, NSAID gel) may be used. Over-the-counter pain relievers can also be taken, though there is some controversy over their effectiveness.
700000 tn?1231287536 The only problem I have is that it is kind of a bummer in that without the flexibility in my wrist, some of my basketball and martial arts activities that I participate in currently are limited. I still live a normal life as an engineer and go to the gym 5 - 6 times per week and never feel any pain except on REALLY cold days. I recently landscaped my backyard with no problems. As far as flexibility, I was barely able to do a flat handed push up 3 years ago. I am 30 years old currently.
Avatar n tn I just got into weight training but I dint know how to eat right. Can someone please guide me and show me a plan for teens or something.HELP.
20893158 tn?1579358911 s wise to alternate activities at least some, and getting some resistance training in as well and flexibility training can at least potentially reduce the costs of running. Peace.

Avatar m tn He plays baseball and basketball for the high school teams. The Doctor tells us his only restrictions are, not to lift more than 1/3 his body weight, no pushups and no pull ups. He must also take an antibiotic one hour prior to having any dental work done. My son is about 5'8" and weighs 140 lbs. He needs to add a little weight and do some considerable strength training if he is going to be able to compete in these sports.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if this issue I had at birth could be effecting me when playing sports? My ankles tend to be quite weak so I always wear basketball boots to support them when exercising. I broke my leg and ankle quite badly a couple of years back and since then I've found it difficult to excercise and play sports the way I did before. As I was in a cast for 6 months I couldn't train and since then my ankles have remained weak and I sometimes get foot cramps when running.
Avatar f tn Use the workouts that make use of flexibility and stretching, strength training and aerobics for the best results. Fitting in regular sessions of weightlifting, calisthenics or other strength activities can help increase muscle mass and keep the body toned and strong. Aerobics will help with burning calories, endurance and weight management, and stretching helps prevent injuries and prepare the body for more intense movements.
Avatar f tn You should only stick to exercise you wwere already doing before pregnancy. Ask a doctor. If you didn't exercise stick to moderate walking or gentle swimming. Don't push yourself beyond yourkimits.
Avatar n tn That's the interesting thing about this current interval training fad. It seems to be a big seller for people who don't want to work out very long but get the same results. My wife has started doing it, but I had to caution her to go more slowly -- she's had achilles tendon problems recently but started running for her interval training.
Avatar m tn I’m 49 years old and have been training since I was 10. From running to playing tennis, soccer , basketball etc. I also weightlift . When I was 25 I started doing sets of jump ropes that would last 45 minutes long and immediately after would lift weights. That’s when it happened first time. I got this heavy head. I can’t call it a headache it was more of a head pressure that would spread from left side of my head to the right .
Avatar m tn s getting to the point that I literally cannot miss a single training session. If I do the pain starts coming. It then only starts to go away after two or three training sessions. More info about the pain: It hurts when I look down, and it restricts my flexibility (it hurts to much to touch my toes). When it hurts I constantly move around because it relieves the pain (kind of like when you have to urinate) The pain feels almost like the growth pains that I use to get in my legs as a child.
Avatar n tn s a combination of strength training to build your muscles, and decreasing body fat through calories. The best upper-body exercise that uses most of the muscles in your entire arm is the overhead shoulder press, Called the Arnold press. Do the Arnold presses twice a week as part of your upper-body routine to strengthen and tone your arms. Exercise all three areas of your shoulders to build the right size and shape.
Avatar f tn (I am 29 and exercise routinely with HIIT and strength training.). I have never had hip pain before, but I have had aches like this that have improved with rest and gradual return to my exercise routine. I exercised fine for about two weeks with that dull, intermittent pain in my hip. But for about a month now, my hip pain has become very severe. I have been unable to exercise or do much stretching at all. I even bought a cane to help me hobble around!
Avatar n tn They consist of stretching and holding different joint and muscle groups for 10 to 30 seconds each. Stretching improves flexibility, and daily stretching is the basis for any exercise program. Strength exercises involve working the muscle against resistance. This can be either with or without weights. Resistance training strengthens the muscle and increases the amount of activity you can do pain-free. Conditioning exercise, also called aerobic exercise, improves cardiovascular fitness.
Avatar m tn pt did evaluation and said he has two postions on lower pack where the five nerves are not moving property down the leg....my son has little to no flexibility in his hips/legs and is suffering spasms and pin needle pain/ numbness in legs and all threw back...this has not been diagnosed by a doc just the pt and he is telling me after a month of therapy is he still having pain maybehe will need more extensive xrays...doesnt the doc give the pt instructions...
Avatar n tn But you can certainly be extremely muscular without being overweight -- I was referring to the gym rats who just enjoy lifting weights, but most professional athletes today especially in basketball and football but in almost every sport are pretty well built nowadays. Except for the ones who are fat on purpose (like football linemen) they're definitely not fat, but many of them use steroids as well and know how to get away with it. Or they blood dope or use HGH.
Avatar m tn Then he stopped going to basketball training, stopped seeing friends and started to close to himself. He has hypothyroid problem so he takes T4. As far as his behavioral image is concerned, he rarely talks about girls or looks at girls (although maybe 14 is a good age to start doing so). Moreover he never exhibited any of the classic gay symptoms (basically he never showed anything that would make us believe he is trying to be the opposite sex).
Avatar m tn Thank you for your answer I have been to MRI few times and it says nothing! Im also training and very active but the sprints and jumps from basketball are those who are killing me. The MRI showed that the disk is not pressing any nerve so I have not really had a nerve pain all this time. Only lower back pain. I have a Khyropractor who is the best here in Iceland and he fixed my hip and it released a lot of pain. I just want to be pain free and it seems impossible.
Avatar n tn Today I played basketball 3on 3 for like an hour. I eat a cerael for breakfast have a good lunch and for a snack a bannana and for dinner a apple. Am I safe drink a gallon a day? What are the symtoms for drinking too much water? I go too the bathroom about 7 times a day since I started drinking a gallon a day. I just read about water intoxication and am freaking out what are the symtoms?
Avatar n tn I'm a 23-year old female, 5' 4", and about 110 pounds. I run 5 days a week for an hour, and bike to get around. I've been wearing a heart rate monitor, and I find that between the hour of running and the hour or so of biking I tend to do in a day, I burn 900-1100 calories. On the weekends I don't run, but I do do the same approximate amount of biking, so I burn probably 300-400 calories those days. What I don't know is what that means in terms of my calorie intake.
Avatar m tn Ok so I think I may have ehlers Danlos. Selma perhaps you could give me some insight. 2 of my 3 daughters are hypermobile. I am not very but my wife is (although I show signs of eds). I have had Eds symptoms for over 12 years which I investigated neurologically instead of from a rheumatology. So all my tests always came back normal. I had an LP in 2008 which led to a spinal headache that would not go away for about 4 months. Possibly due to Eds lack of healing.

Avatar f tn It doesn't look crooked or anything like that so I don't think it's dislocated (at least I hope it's not... I haven't seen a doctor).
