Avatar n tn t have any foot problems or anything, but as a baby and toddler, my sister was fanatical about him not wearing shoes, over concern for his feet developing properly, and attaining correct balance and flexibility, etc. She showed me several articles by different pediatric orthopedists. The articles made a strong point, and convinced me she was doing right, but that was back when he was 2 ½ years old.
Avatar f tn I am going to describe some neck stretches that really helped keep my neck pain down when I went to PT. I also do them now that PT is over. One: Put your right hand behind your back up between your shoulder blades. Lean your head to the right as far as you can with your ear toward your shoulder. Try to keep looking forward as you do this. Hold for a count of 20. Do the same with the left arm and lean to the left side. Do this about 5 times on each side.
Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar m tn (exercise bike, and stretches), you could end up damaging and tearing muscles and tendons, which you do not want. Same for singing. It is important to do "warm up" exercises to gently loosen up the vocal chords before starting to sing using the full vocal range. Again, damage can be caused to the vocal chords if these are strained. Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, a physical-culturist from Mönchengladbach, Germany.
Avatar n tn m sitting at my desk and stretching my arms back. It stretches my back/upper torso and arms, but when I do it I seem to hold my breathe a bit and it causes a very intense pain on the very top of my head. The intensity goes down after a few moments and then a small headache lingers from a few minutes to a few hours. I don't try to hold my breathe though and I don't hold the stretch for more than a few seconds.

Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with tennis elbow. Well, sort of. I went to an orthopedic clinic and the doctor listened to my complaint and my suspicion that it is in fact tennis elbow, and then said, yes, you have tennis elbow. He showed me some exercises, recommended hot packs, and sent me on my way. He never once touched my arm or ask me to move it in any certain way. He prescribed tylenol. On the tendon (?
Avatar n tn Perform yoga or stretches after each exercise session to improve your flexibility and reduce your risk of soreness and injuries. Stretching helps to elongate your muscles to give your legs a leaner appearance. No excess sodium and improve your diet to reduce water retention. Avatar m tn When you have sex it makes your uterine muscles contract, usually you don't notice too much but after having a baby everything is swollen and still hurts so it causes cramps because your uterus is contracting to get back to it's normal size. It stretches from the size of about a tennis ball to the size of a watermelon during pregnancy. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Avatar m tn First, the lacrosse ball might have been too hard. I find a tennis ball works better down there. It also might be the periformis muscle, which doesn't show up on MRIs. With many people the periformis muscle is right under the sciatic nerve, and when it gets inflamed it pinches that nerve and causes that pain to rove down the leg. As to what caused the pain in your lower back to begin with, who knows?

Avatar m tn I developed Achilles tendonitis in my left leg, which after all kinds of physio therapy and stretches has still not been resolved 2 years later. I am now developing the same issue in my right leg, and also tennis elbow in my left elbow. Dr did all the bloodwork and said all was normal, and just prescribed me Celebrex for pain, which I am not taking, I'm just living with the pain because I know taking NSAID's long term is not good.
Avatar n tn These kinds of things can happen in many ways, like playing volleyball, tennis, carrying your backpack at school, getting groceries out of the car, sleeping in a bad position, walking the dog and he jerked on the leash, etc. Find some different ways to stretch the particular area of your shoulder that is bothering you. Try putting your right hand on the back of your neck, then grab your right elbow with your left hand and slowly pull your elbow to the left.
