Avatar f tn anyone have any good body stretches? I'm looking for new ones or ones I haven't seen before... Contortionist type stretches are welcome too!!
Avatar n tn Perform yoga or stretches after each exercise session to improve your flexibility and reduce your risk of soreness and injuries. Stretching helps to elongate your muscles to give your legs a leaner appearance. No excess sodium and improve your diet to reduce water retention. Your knees and other areas appear larger when you carry excess water. Cut out processed meat, table salt, salty snack foods, canned foods and most frozen dinners.
Avatar m tn s uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old. I had an X-ray taken in December that my Internal Med. Physician initially said revealed dehydrated discs around the S1 area but later said they looked fine. I have been doing yoga 3-5 times a week the past 1.
Avatar m tn My pain started about 3-4 months ago with mild hamstring pain in both legs. It was a dull sometime shooting pain. I had very little flexibility in my hamstrings until I stretched them. The pain has become more extreme and is now hurting in my lower legs (shin splints and ankle), hips, butt, hamstrings etc. The pain was in both legs but now is 90% in my right leg. Its at its worst in the am when I wake up and pretty much never feels 100% even after NSAIDs.
Avatar m tn Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar f tn It has the correct stretches for every sport. Your shin pain and plantar fasciitis may be related. When your shin hurts you may be adjusting your movement and huring your heel. Once you have the right shoes, both conditions will be helped by stretching.
1936411 tn?1333831849 One other thing they have me do is stand on foam with my legs together and close my eyes. stand there for 30 seconds 5 times. this too is good with another person - This has helped my balance tremendously.\ I hope this helps - This is a sample of what I do every time at pt. My PT sessions are around 2 hours long. In addition I do other exercises and then walk on treadmill, walk the facility frontwards, back wards, sidewards, and then walk over hurdles.
Avatar f tn Rolling hips slowly around like a hula hoop is good. Wide squats are good for flexibility and leg and glute strength, but sometimes aggrivate my sciatic. Swinging your arms as they dangle at your sides, in a circle, stretches your back and whole middle body. Rolling ankles helps blood flow and soreness. I like downward facing dog or modified child's pose (with belly on floor and legs out to make space) to stretch back and to relieve pelvic pressure.
Avatar f tn I have a hard time walking sometimes in the mornings when I first get up or have been sitting for awhile. I feel all stiff in my legs. Is this from the chemo treatments and will it ever get better? My ovarian cancer was found in stage 1a and chemo was an option for me and I chose to have it and I am still glad that I did because if my cancer ever comes back I will know that I did all I could to help myself with no regrets but I just wish I could get my legs feeling better.
333672 tn?1273792789 ve just been doing various leg stretches and not for a real long time (maybe 10 breaths? for each stretch twice a day) Also does anybody do any kind of hand or finger stretches? My fingers get pretty stiff to so maybe I should be doing something there (or does typing count?) I feel less discomfort since I started stretching, although I don't think I'm actually walking any better or farther.
Avatar f tn Warming up with gentle stretching can help get your body ready for your workout. Gentle stretches such as side bends, shoulder shrugs, arm circles, overhead stretches, and bending to reach (but not touch) your toes are all good warm-up exercises. Do three to five repetitions of each. If you are swimming or walking, you can also warm up with a slower swim or walk. If you have OA in your knees or hips, you want to avoid any jolting exercise like jogging that causes your feet to pound the ground.
Avatar n tn Vigorous low-impact exercise is beneficial – for your joints, as well as for cardiovascular, pulmonary, and other systems in your body. If you can't do vigorous exercise, try walking, tai chi and yoga. If you're overweight then you need to diet. Drink concentrated tart cherry juice. it contains anthocyanins and bioflavonoids, which help support a healthy immune response for your joints. Make sure you're getting your vit. D, omega-3 fatty acids from krill or high quality fish oil.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how to deal with restless leg syndrome? I guess that's what I have, idk. But I can't sleep because my legs won't stop moving and it's really frustrating. I'm to the point of crying because I'm so dang sleepy.
Avatar n tn These simple but effective sciatica stretches are indicated for relaxing the lower back, pelvic floor, buttocks and legs. They also work to help you strengthen these key areas for reducing or preventing sciatica pain by allowing the spine to return to its natural, functional alignment. For best results, repeat these several times a day until your pain subsides. Before you begin, lay flat on your back with your arms at your sides and legs outstretched.

Avatar f tn So, I just had my first prenatal yoga class and it was amazing. The stretches helped my lower back soooo much. I highly recommend it!
Avatar n tn m sitting at my desk and stretching my arms back. It stretches my back/upper torso and arms, but when I do it I seem to hold my breathe a bit and it causes a very intense pain on the very top of my head. The intensity goes down after a few moments and then a small headache lingers from a few minutes to a few hours. I don't try to hold my breathe though and I don't hold the stretch for more than a few seconds.
Avatar n tn warm baths/hot showers....loose socks and therapeutic gel on my burning feet and stretches help(stretches for the shoulders/arms/wrists/hands) and I tried to avoid sitting for too long and also looking upwards brought on the pain.
Avatar n tn The trainer certainly used some new muscles, my legs were like rubber for the first few days, and I only used it for a few minutes. After one week, I go on it for 5 minutes at a low setting, but I've been stopping because my heart rate goes up to 140. Is that normal for someone who hasn't done any hard exercise for decades? I'm not that out of breath, no chest pains or anything like that, and my legs aren't that tired.
Avatar m tn Usually the main predictors of aortic dissection are family history, aortic size, and aortic flexibility. For someone of your aortic size, I would take it easy. Try the ARB approach with a max or ultra-max high dosage (as long as your doctor lets you) and see if that reduces aortic size and aortic flexibility (the "pulse pressure" is one way to estimate the flexibility - Google it). If so, then perhaps you can talk to your doctor about athletics.
Avatar m tn Yoga is a fantastic way to stay active and healthy, but it's important to have the right equipment to help you perform your poses with ease and safety. One of the most essential items in your yoga kit is a non-slip yoga mat, which can help prevent slips and falls and provide better stability during your practice. Additionally, a yoga stretching strap can be an invaluable tool for deepening your stretches and improving your flexibility.
Avatar f tn t bounce around or exert too much. It is amazing for strength and flexibility and burns calories too.
Avatar m tn I may try to see my orthopedic doctor and maybe get an MRI. I tried hip abductor stretches, also ice and muscle strengthing. Last night I could not a lay a way that did not hurt. I use motrin. Advice and tips welcome.
Avatar f tn I had back pain around then too, turns out I had a UTI. Nothing I did help mine, I'm guessing that's cuz I had the UTI. Now, the back pain comes when I don't sleep right and a little rubbing helps.
Avatar f tn Google stretches for SPD!! I had the same issue and you can find some good info online...I ended up going to physical therapy it has done wonders! See if your ins will cover it and your see if your doc will send you!
