Avatar f tn I am a 65 year old gal having cataract surgery in 2 weeks. What is the best lens choice for an avid tennis player? My doctor thinks it's ReSTOR. After reading about problems, I'm not sure. Is there a tennis player out there who is happy with ReSTOR? My 3.5 Super Senior Team won the state of Florida and is going to Nationals. Of course I would love not having to use reading glasses but not if it's a vision sacrifice.
Avatar f tn My pain is in the front of my knee. I am a tennis player, 63, and am going crazy from not being able to play.

Avatar n tn Our kids played tennis, mostly singles, but some doubles. Tennis requires quite a bit of stamina, but playing doubles might be something to consider. I'd definitely get the doctor's approval. There are some great websites for families dealing with LQTS. My EP is a specialist in the disorder and I know there is a lot of ongoing research.
Avatar f tn My 13 yr has been complaining of her hip "popping". She is a soccer player and it occasionally bothers her while playing but yesterday about 4 hrs after the game was over and she was sitting in the car- she had sharp stabbing pain in her hip. She was absolutely hysterical with the pain. She is not a dramatic child and she actually was starting to scare me. Could it just be a groin strain?
Avatar n tn I'm 15 and due to changing my eating habits, I went from 142 to 113. I'm 5'5" and a half and am a tennis player. I've missed my period 6 times in a row now, does this mean that when I grow up I can't have kids?
Avatar m tn My mother is a nurse who disagrees with me that you need a structured diet and fitness program from a doctor to truly lose weight. She is giving loads of grief because I want to the lose weight but I have not done any exercising till I have seen the specialist concerning it. I told her I wanted to make the appointment but told me to pretty much run 3 miles and eat whatever I want. I am not a nurse but that does not sound correct to me.
Avatar m tn Usually the main predictors of aortic dissection are family history, aortic size, and aortic flexibility. For someone of your aortic size, I would take it easy. Try the ARB approach with a max or ultra-max high dosage (as long as your doctor lets you) and see if that reduces aortic size and aortic flexibility (the "pulse pressure" is one way to estimate the flexibility - Google it). If so, then perhaps you can talk to your doctor about athletics.
Avatar n tn t have any foot problems or anything, but as a baby and toddler, my sister was fanatical about him not wearing shoes, over concern for his feet developing properly, and attaining correct balance and flexibility, etc. She showed me several articles by different pediatric orthopedists. The articles made a strong point, and convinced me she was doing right, but that was back when he was 2 ½ years old.
Avatar m tn I am a regular and quite good tennis player, and I am having great difficulty playing as well as I was accustomed. The best way to discribe the problem is that I am having trouble focusing on moving objects. I can see very well at a stationary scene, but am getting hit by balls that I used to hit well. Is this a condition that I will get used to over time, or is the imbalance between the focal lengths in my eyes beyond the limit that the brain can adjust to?
Avatar m tn It is really important that you add a proper strength training program with a progressive core program that will help your cardiovascular system to not be out of breath. Remember the stronger your muscles are the better for your heart, your blood pressure and your physical conditioning. Think of any sports player they have specific strength training programs that help them enable perform better at the field.
Avatar m tn Hi Ed, As a fellow tennis player I feel for you! I'm sorry about your injury. The rotator cuff is a common injury with tennis players (besides tennis elbow). I would rest it and take NSAID's like Ibuproin or naproxin for about a week or two if you can. I don't mean don't use it but just don't strain it. Also, try icing it of and on. Then start your own PT at home. Get in the the shower and warm up the shoulder and arm.
Avatar f tn I'm a pretty serious doubles/ tennis player. Often, I feel horrible when I first get on the court. I'm fatigued, and "foggy headed." It's really tough, as my partner wants to win.... Then, after forcing myself to stick with it, I almost always feel better after about an hour or so. I think the adrenaline, may work to reverse some of the neuron issues that brought on the fatigue......
Avatar n tn I have a bulging L5 - S1 that has been causing problems for just over a year now. I've had 4 epidurals, and have been taking pain pills daily. About 6 month ago I started getting really bad upper back spasms, I had an MRI, CT Scan, and Ultra Sound that all came back clear. I got another epidural about a month ago and the back spasms went away (they are starting to come back as the epidural is wearing off).
Avatar f tn I still exercise by walking, but feel I would feel better without it. This is after being a tennis player for years and having to stop because the more I played the more I suffered afterwards as far as being exhausted the next day.
Avatar n tn I'm 35yrs old and received Lasik surgery 2 years ago (had a -2.75 prescription with a very small astigmatism). One of the main reasons I did the surgery was because I'm an avid tennis player and skier, and I wanted to not have to wear contacts when I engaged in my favorite sports. The surgery went well with no complications. Two years later, the vision in my left eye is 20/20, but my right eye is around -0.5.
Avatar n tn Once you have that you will need to build up gradually rather than jump right into a high intensity/impact activity like tennis. A cardiac rehab program might be able to guide you along the best path to build your strength and endurance.
Avatar f tn My baby is a tennis player. She plays between 2am and 5am. Keeping me awake.

Avatar f tn Kaul, My 13 year-old son, who is a very competitive swimmer and table tennis player, has also diagnosed with OCD in his right elbow started June last year. The last year December MRI told that his joint was still intact with a piece of shadow and some effusion. He has stopped playing table tennis which is considered the one that likely caused the problem but been swimming kind of 'normally', which is considered might be even 'helpful'.
Avatar f tn I recently have beed diagnosed with a tear in the rotator cuff but much more painful is the tear of the deltoid.
